Great location close to both Trang An and Tam Coc. Very friendly and helpful staff who spoke excellent English. A welcome drink upon arrival along with a map and advice on activities in the local area. Breakfast included. I got a free room upgrade to nice clean room with clean bathroom and balcony. The restaurant serves dinner, lunch and drinks. I highly recommend this homestay as a base for exploring Ninh Binh. Table and tea making facilities in the room, as well as a bench and clothes hangers. A place to park your motorbike or bicycle.

Although my room had a table and tea making facilities, it lacked a chair. A chair for the balcony would have earned a 10/10 rating. The shower head had a leak and sprayed water everywhere. Apart from these small things I would give 10/10.

Yen was waiting for my arrival and welcomed me with a refreshment. After check in, I have received information about what to do and visit, with a map prepared from Yen, with the location, the prices, tips about the parking. Was invited to join an aniversary dinner of a family member in the evening. After lunch, a delicious cooked plate, I have decided to have breakfast, lunch and dinner at Ha Lan. Excelent preparation of your choice from Yen and the family, I have enjoyed all of the menus I have ordered. Music adapted to the moment. Ha Lan is in the country side, I have found strategicaly positioned for your visits. Room was clean, cosy, with nice view, was made every day. Had everything you may need for your personal care. Pool was clean, on the other side of the road. Covered motorbike parking. Family very friendly and helpfull about any information you need. I highly recomend Ha Lan Homestay and i will return again.

We loved our stay here. Location was excellent. Homestay was very clean. Staff were excellent especially with my children. Very friendly. Food was excellent. We are vegans and they even went out to buy us more tofu. Breakfast was fabulous. Nice hot shower. Coffee every morning and fresh towels. Thank you

The bicycle and scooters could be maintained better. Scooter was battered.

Yen and her family provide a most memorable experience. The homestay is clean, comfortable, and more than adequate for a short stay in this beautiful region. The food is excellent, with a full menu available until 2200hrs every evening. The bedrooms are basic, spacious, clean, and comfortable - exactly as depicted on the website. The location of the property afforded a great opportunity to witness the daily rhythm of life in a rural hamlet. The highlight of our stay was our interaction with the host family. When words failed us, which was very often the case, online translators filled in the gaps. Highly recommended, without any reservations.

There was nothing not to like. Perhaps the towels could be bigger, or the bicycles a bit better - but these are trivial matters.

The owners were so lovely and so accommodating the entire time, they gave recommendations on travel spots and even delivered us to our bus station at the end of the stay. The homestay is in a nice location that is quiet and also close to local attractions. They also had great food and the best coconut coffee i’ve ever had.

This has been the nicest place we have stayed in our entire South East Asia trip. The staff were incredibly friendly and helped us out with loads of really good tips and information. We rented a scooter from the homestay which was very easy. They did our laundry and returned it only a few hours later. The room was the biggest we have stayed in and it was very clean and we were given fresh towels and water every day. The bed was massive and very comfortable. The location is so beautiful and by scooter you can travel into the old town/to all of the major attractions (eg. boat tours/pagodas) easily and quickly. The breakfast each morning was delicious and really filling. We also ate a few meals here and they were all lovely as well. The stay was also insanely good value. I would really recommend a stay with Ha Lan. Thank you so much Yen and the family!

I have to say that this homestay truly provides top level customer service, beyond what was expected. The host was very responsive to all my inquiries. When I booked the wrong room (1 bed) she offered to room my friend and I to another (2 bed) at no additional charge. She was quite helpful and informative regarding planning my daily activities during my stay. She helped with organizing transport to and from the Hanoi airport directly, so I did not need to personally figure out the logistics of transportation…and to boot, the price of the transportation was quite reasonable in comparison to what is typical. Finally, on my day out, I needed to store my luggage in Hanoi as I had a late flight and wanted to explore the capital, and she even called in a few favors among her friends to arrange for that. I don’t think this is an actual service, so I would caution having this as an expectation. The homestay itself was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. The staff were friendly and all smiles. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again. I felt that the host really wanted me to have the best experience in Ninh Binh that I could and did everything she can to help me.

This is not really a negative, but more of a suggestion. If the menu (they have a restaurant downstairs) had photos of the food that were prepared, I would have been more inclined to order more. I don’t think there needs to be a photo for every dish, but possibly the house specialties.

The room is simply decorated but beautiful and clean, the bathroom is spotless. The included breakfast was delicious with many options. The homestay also has a restaurant with many delicious dishes. The location is very close to Trang An and Hang Mua, convenient for transportation. The highlight of this place is that Yen and her family are very cheerful and friendly, they will always support whatever you need. If I return to Ninh Binh, I will still choose Ha Lan Homestay.

I wish I could stay longer

Room was lovely and clean and ready early for us which we really appreciated after a night bus. Motorbike hire was easy at 150K and bicycle options were available for 40k. Location was decent walkable distance to the hang Mua view point and a short bikes ride to the boat tours. Despite not speaking much English the staff were fantastic and so lovely. Restaurant has affordable prices and the included breakfast is amazing We had an amazing stay
