This is a pleasant,well set up hostal with good common spaces

It was the most expensive place I stayed in a number of weeks travelling round Argentina. As soon as you book you get an automatic message from them saying you must expect to pay 25% more than you have booked for which was not a very welcoming message, though you are then given the option of cancelling. This is because they do not use the official dollar exchange rate as did every other place I stayed, but instead they use the MEP electronic rate.

The best hostel and breakfast. Better than some hotels. Lots of fresh fruit variety and cooked eggs as well. Lovely communal seating areas, garden and free coffee all day! Kitchen well equiped and good to see sharing fridge/cupboards which helps save food waste.

I would have preferred privacy/thin blind on windows. My view was lovely as direct into garden but also direct into people in garden so curtains had to be closed for privacy.

Everyone from Hostal Schilling was amazing, from the front desk crew to the lovely lady who made breakfast. I had all my tours and airport shuttle booked very efficiently and they made sure I had everything sorted properly prior. Regardless the time of the day, the crew always greets you with a smile and are super friendly. The location is also close to the main street where the supermarket and restaurants are located at. You do have to go up/down a small slope everyday to get to the main street.

It’s a small issue but it would be nice to have a hairdryer in the room.

As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by very friendly and helpful staff who explain the hostal to you and show you the room. Our room had a super king bed which was comfortable and clean. The shower took a bit of time to heat up but once it did, it was nice. The hostal is extremely well organised. They offer a next-day laundry service, a packed lunch service (the quality was super), a money exchange at good rate and so on. Everyone has a unique code to get in. They even had umbrellas we could borrow! The Internet was good. They let us store our bags after check out and called us a taxi to the airport. Would definitely stay here again. Very affordable too.

The breakfast is quite basic. But to be fair, many hostals don't even do one.

This Hostal is in a great location, a block and a half from the main street where all the restaurants, bars, and shops are--just far enough to be quiet at night, but close enough to be very convenient. The staff was friendly, and breakfast was good, including eggs made to order if you wanted but no sliced meat. If you are going to do a day trip into the Parque, make sure to order a lunch the day before (cash only, but pesos are fine)-- the mini quiche is particularly good, and it comes with the chicken sandwich.

The bathroom shower had problems with hot water, spitting and cutting off at times. The bedroom was also really noisy whenever anyone was in the hall or in the next room--even opening a cabinet door in the adjacent room was super loud.

really good location, 5 mins walk from the main street. the loveliest staff - everyone was so nice! the two guys on reception were so kind and helpful, the people serving breakfast were friendly. decent kitchen facilities. clean rooms - we stayed in a double with a private bathroom and it also had a heater. strongly recommend!

The staff is super friendly and helpful throughout, they speak very decent English. They can coordinate trips for you and prepare lunch bags for your day trips. This is also cheaper than booking it on GetYourGuide or Viator. Breakfast is included and even has vegan options.

Given that this place is a hostel be aware that it is basic. While there is a very comfortable shared space to hang out, the room itself is very functional and not luxurious. This is not really something negative but just what you would expect from a hostel.

Nice hostel in a cool building. Good vibe without being a party hostel. Well equipped kitchen and a nice area to eat. Room was large and quite comfortable. Shutters on the window keep it really dark in the morning. Staff were very helpful. Due to availability I had two separate bookings for two different room types and expected to have to move during my stay, but they were able to rearrange things so I could stay in the same room the whole time. Location is great. 2 minutes to the main road and 15 minutes to the bus station.

Shower takes about 5 minutes to get hot. Walls are very thin so you can hear every word from the next room. WiFi is atrocious; seriously, 802.11g in 2024? 'Double' bed was two singles pushed together with a double sheet over the top.

I highly recommend Hostal Schilling! I stayed here for 3 nights in a private room w private bathroom. Loved my stay here. The bedroom, common areas, patio, garden, dining area are very clean, well maintained. They provide decent breakfast, unlimited coffee/tea, soap & towel. They are very responsive via WhatsApp. They helped me quickly resolve the issue of my transfer back to the airport. It is centrally located, and a short walk away from cool bars, restaurants and downtown stores. I’ll definitely stay here for my future Calafate trip!!

Outstanding, freindly staff. Willing to find out wiht any information we needed. Booked a bus for us to go to the airport when departing. Easy to arrange for laundry to be washed - returned next day about the same time you drop it off. Great kitchen facility. Loads of selection for the included breakfast. Location is very handy - took about 25 minutes walking from bus depot with our backpacks and is a short walk from the main central area. Can buy a packed lunch if going on an early tour the next day - it will be waiting in a fridge the next morning with your name on the bag. The two of us shared a lunch and it was plenty of food!

Sound echos throughout so if people are talking late into the night or early in the morning, it is loud. Location is wonderful - close to downtown, but lots of noise throughout night from cars racing (?) on the main street a block and a half away. There was confusion about paying as price was different in US$ (when paying) than ARS (when booked) and would have to pay more ARS if paying in cash. I understand the financial crisis makes everything difficult for people living in Argentina and this is a fluid situation.
