I loved my stay at Sorell Barracks! I liked the self check-in. The room was gorgeous and there is info in the room about the history of the barracks. It's awesome staying at a historical site. The bed was very comfy and I had everything I needed. I didn't meet the hosts as I checked in later in the day and left early to catch a flight, but all the communication was welcoming and friendly and I knew I could reach out if I needed anything. It's an awesome area, nice and close to the airport. Would absolutely stay there again when I next return to Hobart.

The barrack have been tastefully renovated, the available space was of a good size. All the necessary facilities were provided with a toaster, kettle and sandwich maker in the kitchenette. The living space was clean, comfortable and tastefully decorated. access was easy, chocolates in the kitchen basket were a welcome treat upon our arrival. The bed was very comfortable. Plenty of off-street parking provided.

There was really nothing we didn't like and we would definitely stay there again. However, the entry stairs to our upstairs room, were quite steep and narrow which wasn't an issue for us, but could be for someone less steady on their feet. (There is ground floor accommodation available as well.)

the location of Sorell Barracks is great, short walk to the shops and places to eat. Beautiful old world interior and well presented

i would recommend the owners get new curtains for the bedroom area as they are very short, and the sun comes straight in very early and wakes you up. I would also recommend some sort of handrail in the stair well area as these steps are very steep and when carrying bags back down you have nothing to hold onto. Wouldn't be great for elderly people as they could fall down them.

Situated in a very quiet street, Sorrel Barracks is charming! We stayed 3 nights in the old supply store which is the stand alone building on the left end of the Barracks. The kitchen and bathroom were equipped with everything you need when on holidays, and the queen sized bed was very comfy. Sorrel is a close drive from the city, the beautiful village of Richmond, and is only a 10 minute drive from the airport. It was the perfect home base for day trips around the Hobart area. Would definitely recommend!

This wasn't a big issue, but there is no kitchen table in the room ( due to space). There is a side table, but this was where one of our suitcases sat, so the only tables we had were the ones outside. Fortunately, we had good weather so we ate outdoors, which was nice as the gardens are lovely!

If your looking for something a little different then the Sorrell Barracks are highly recommended. It is well restored 1840's building so does have a few features that may or not appeal but our family very much enjoyed our stay. The location is excellent, near the airport and wineries with Hobart just a short drive away. Sorrell has a good supermarket, bakery and coffee shop.

Nothing really if you accept that it is an old building. The stairs to the upper floor accommodation are very steep but not an issue if you take care and are reasonably active.

An amazing place. There can't be too many accommodation places in Australia that are nearly 200 years old! Naturally the building has some quirks when it is so old, such as people just weren't as tall back then. But that just adds to the charm, the distinctiveness and authenticity of it. The hosts are great, Sorrell is an easy place to visit, and the price point is terrific for something so unique.

Very cosy and comfortable. The little mini kitchen was very useful. Loved the quaint and charming historical atmosphere and decor. The outside seating areas were lovely and what a handy location. Characterful and cute. Outside dining spaces. Great location for exploring. Onsite parking. Good communication and easy key access. Groceries and eateries nearby.

Limited kitchenette- not detailed in booking summary. Sandwich press grilled meat ok too. Still no sharp knife supplied. Very cosy/cramped dining indoors.

Lovely heritage cottage with a kitchen and lounge area. Well furnished & comfortable. Easy drive from the airport and good value for money.

Unfortunately the light was not working in the lounge/kitchen area when we arrived (after dark). However, we were able to move a lamp in from one of the bedrooms, so it was only a minor inconvenience.

The Barracks are delightful. Handy to town and quiet location. Great to park off road. The gardens were lovely and the wonderful old world charm made this our best Stay overall our stops in Tassie. We definitely will be back.

Leaving. This is such a historic places. Lots to see in the area and we could have stayed longer.
