What a great hotel. The location is perfect for visiting Ypres with a short journey (about 5 minutes) to the Menin Gate. The hotel is in the grounds of some WW1 trenches which is now simple tourist attraction (if that is the right word) available for 1 Euro. Next door is the Hooge Crater Museum which is over the road from the cemetery. Upon arrival the lady on reception was very helpful. The breakfast whilst simple is exactly what one would hope to start the day.... Coffee, meats and cheese and enough pastry's and bread. Finally, a lovely bar.... On our first night this was open as we returned and we could have a nice couple of drinks with no rushing as we were the last two in. The second night the bar was not open (but it was later) and I wonder if they close up when nobody is about. An excellent hotel and one not only would I recommend, but I would also use again

I booked a single room. My ensuite room was spacious, clean and functional. The windows if opened had mosquito mesh in the frame, so in hot weather the room could be aired without the worry of critters. Daily room service was great, breakfast provided a good choice of continental and cereal and the atmosphere was warm and relaxing. This hotel provides good car parking and is located conveniently to nearby places of interest and cycle routes. 3 out of the 5 mornings I had to be away before breakfast so they provided a packed breakfast/lunch to take with me!

I was happy with everything as it was.

This hotel is well worth a stay,have been loads of times. Love to stay in the hotel it's self,every room different nothing matches which adds to the character and charm.stayed in new block this time,which has very very large rooms kitchen you can use tea coffee cooker microwave. So clean you can eat off ALL THE FLOORS

other than them now not cooking at weekends(understand why)loads of eating places. There isn't anything bad to say. And we are always remembered and asked what we have been doing.

We stayed here last year when exploring the WW1 sites, coming back from Germany on a motorcycle tour, we needed a hotel not too far from the Chunnel. Accordingly, we stayed here again. Lovely hotel, we had beds in the old part this year, not the more modern separate block. It is situated in an WW1 battlefield and has an outdoor museum, the lake is an old mine crater! Just as good as last year and we had a pleasant stay. I would certainly recommend this hotel and would stay here again if needed.

It was all good, nothing bad to say.

Bedroom and bathroom were very spacious. Beds were comfortable too. The breakfast is superb with lots of lovely fresh choices. The breakfast room itself is gorgeous, decorated so nice for Christmas. The staff were so helpful and friendly, always greeting us with a smile. The grounds are what is truly amazing, an outdoor museum of WWI artifacts.

An electric kettle in the rooms would be a nice touch. Other than that I can’t think of anything I didn’t like.

We stayed in the new building and it was a nice room very clean. Due to the fact that we were early in the season we couldn’t use the terras and all the other facilities. It is nice however that they take care over the Hooghe Krater which is a remnant of the Great War and you cannot understand the idea that about 100 years ago here men did battle for 4 year over 300 m of frontline.

At the time we were there we had some problems getting to Ypres as the road was closed and you could only reach the hotel from one way. Hopefully this will be solved quickly.

Great location for Bellewarde Park. Lovely room/hotel and wonderful staff. It also has a WW1 site in it's grounds, which you can walk around (and have the sheep follow you). - it costs 1 Euro to do so. It is quiet, and picturesque. Short walking distances from further WW1 sites/cemeteries and museums. It is also less then 10 mins drive from Ypres, so is an ideal location if you are looking to do a WW1 tour in the area. Continental breakfast was nice, and ample on site parking.

Location, food, and hospitality staff are so friendly and helpful, beautifully surroundings, a lovely light room. Also convenient for public transport into Ypres centre.

Only a few things, two single beds, pushed together rather than a double.. A chest of drawers would have been more convenient rather than living out of a suitcase. But that's not a complaint. A hot drink facility would have complimented a lovely room.

Excellent place to stay if you are visiting any of the World War 1 locations. The hotel has a very interesting history and is adjacent to the Hooge crater museum. For us it was a much better option than staying in Ypres itself Our room was on the ground floor and it was excellent, comfortable bed, and great shower over the bath. Excellent breakfast ..really nice croissants We had dinner in the restaurant on a Monday night; Small menu but excellent quality.

Nothing we didn't like here.

We came here for the battlefields and chose the hotel for the trenches in its gardens, which were even more extensive than the pictures indicated with informative boards around explaining what happened here in WW1. Kids will love clambering about the trenches; my son certainly did notwithstanding the wet weather. Our room was in the new block and was spacious and quiet (thank you, double glazing). Breakfast was the standard continental type but Belgium isn’t the best place for gluten-free eaters.

It’s not walking distance to town but we knew that when we booked. Free on site parking was the bonus.
