The hotel is located in a great spot, close to restaurants, bars, shops and the water bus.. The family room we stayed in was spotless, comfortable and large (its air conditioning and mini fridge really helped in the hot weather). Breakfast was busy after 9am, but had a super selection of all things breakfasty! Children were well catered for and ate for free. There was a toy area under the stairs and table football upstairs. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. We would highly recommended the hotel. It was great value for money.

It's a very cosy hotel, not too highly priced, in Mechelen, a town that is well connected with Brussels and Antwerpen (and many other places, but this would make it very convenient even for a business trip) - a lot of train lines frequently pass through, and the town has a much safe feel and a charming vibe. It was a wonderful starting point for exploring Belgium. Not to mention Mechelen itself is a bit underrated - there's plenty to see there. The hotel is clean, beds are comfortable, it has a late checkout as a standard, it has a small fridge in rooms, which come very handy when travelling. It's 10 minutes walk from the train station.

Everything would be just perfect if the breakfast was a little bit more affordable, but then again, Belgium is pretty expensive when it comes to food, and breakfast in this hotel is completely free for kids.

I love the reception, how friendly everyone was and one thing that caught my attention was how easy it was for them to change my room after I complained. My room was changed with no complications. At the bar, the reception there was was amazing, friendly and comfortable to be around. Even when we were checking out and waiting for our taxi, the reception proposed we keep our bags in the luggage room while we wait, always with a smile on their face.

There's nothing I didn't like

The location was close to everything you needed, quick Uber from the train station and a short walking distance to bus stops. The room was a good price for 3 people considering it was during Tomorrowland. We didn’t use the facilities so I can’t comment on that. The hotel is older but this isn’t an issue for us.

There was black mould in the shower and the ceiling fan didn’t work - other than that it was very clean. They also don’t have signs to put on the door to say no house keeping so we were interrupted by the cleaners each day. There was a slight smell - it didn’t smell gross, but was a bit overbearing & there was this random loud buzzing noise every 5/10/15 (etc) minutes.

The room is nice and spacious. The location very central but calm. There is a supermarket open 7 days a week just around the corner, and many bars and restaurants nearby.

The room is large but the bed is placed so weirdly that the bathroom door has to be forced to open and close. No sockets where there is a mirror. No mirrors in the room but just in the bathroom. Thing could be cleaner. There was still hair on the wall of the shower when I arrived. The showe is rather tiny.

The location is excellent - very close to the main town square, the cathedral and the old town centre. The breakfast is very good, with a wide selection of hot and cold dishes, and is available from 6:30 through till 10:00. The bar has at least two beers from the local Het Anker brewery, and there are several other bars and restaurants within just a few minutes' walking distance, including Bier Central in the main square with a choice of over 300 beers available.

The breakfast is maybe a bit pricey at 22 euros - but you may eat as much as you're able to. The hotel is about 20 minutes' walk from the railway station - but a bus is available for anyone not willing or able to walk that far.

Location of the hotel was perfect - we travel with low CO2, by train and on foot - and walking form the station to the hotel, mostly by the river pedestrian path was great! The welcome and the service was excellent, including a small gift for our son. The room was perfect for our needs, also very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was varied and we appreciated that over the weekend it is extended until 11.00n allowing us to indulge into sleeping later.

Our only regret is that, due to external factors, we could not stay longer. There is much to explore and enjoy in and around Mechelen and Novotel offers a perfect "home-base".

Noise from the room above- things dropping and moving everytime they closed a door something fell in my room. Awful. Bathroom wasn’t clean- hairs in bath and shower Bedding was torn Had to pay for water everyday

Perfect hotel in perfect location. Took the regular room which was extremly spacious and luxrious. Gym was great and the Hamam was wonderful. Location is in the center and there is a parking under the hotel. The vibe of the hotel and the energy there is of fun and good vibes. Loved it!

There were no gluten free option on the resturant menu. No coffee machine in room - but they gave me espresso for free at the lobby.

The hotel is clean, has a good variety of breakfast options and is well located for a visit to Mechelen.

The staff member at the reception desk on arrival spoke only English. In general staff at the reception desk (if they were at the desk) was more factual than friendly, not greeting hotel guests.
