The spacious room, the service from cleaning, the peace and quiet. The shower itself lovely, the fact that we could put our blue bikes in the hotel so we wouldn't have to be scared that these would get stolen. Fast service on the check-in or when other things are needed like toothpaste etc.

The water from the shower would run all over the floor in the bathroom which I didn't liked a lot of since the drain system don't seem to work so good for the amount of water pouring through the shower, hence why there is so much water on the bathroom floor.

Nice hotel with interior design, to bad they are building around the hotel so it looks little dirty. But surely after the renovation it will look even nicer. Very friendly staff

Breakfast - we came around 9.40 and lot of things were gone (when mentioned to the staff they just say yes it is like this?!). As a family with 3 children it takes time for us to eat our breakfast and at 10.33 (as promised) ALL the food was just gone. Not really what u expect from such prices (23eur per person).

The room was great and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was also nice with lots of choices. I think the hotel will be amazing once the renovations will be over, I am pretty sure the view from the chamber we got will be wonderful.

Everything was great! The only problem was that we were unlucky to visit the hotel during the renovation of the surroundings. Lots of noise, even on the Saturday morning we could hear hammers being used (they avoided using loud machines, but couldn't do anything but continue working with less noisy tools... that were still pretty noisy).

Due to construction on site the place is not very welcoming from this perspective, but that is not much the hotel can do about, so just take it as information. All other aspects of the stay were very fine, especially quality of breakfast was really nice and reception personnel always pleasant to talk to. Was not able due to time constrains enjoy the rest of the hotel services.

Soft bed, but that is very personal preference. If you enjoy soft beds, then great for you, I would more enjoy more firm bed, but was still within limits.

We (family with 2 kids) went on holidays with our dog (6 month old puppy) for the first time and our first night was in this hotel, the experience was perfect, it set the standard for the rest of our holidays and gave great comfort. Mechelen is a beautiful city, easy to reach via the waterside walk, enjoy! Thank you team for having us, we will be back :)

Awesome. Fresh products. Very courteous and welcoming staff looked after me even thought I was running late for breakfast.

The construction work around the hotel can only add to the local regeneration. However, this then caused some difficulty of transferring luggage over some distance personal cars or taxis could not get close access to hotel.

Nice hotel in the heart of the town (not too far on foot from the train station btw), very cozy room, friendly stuff, excellent breakfast. The restaurant is also very good and value for money.

Noisy construction works around the hotel start at 7am, so forget about sleeping longer. Nothing else to complain. I understand it is not hotel's fault and is hopefully temporary, but I think worth mentioning.

All except my view was a construction site and our taxi Uber could not find you. Maybe he should have just entered Hotel Mechelen which should be the bigger name when I booked but instead there was confusion between Van der Valk and Hotel Mechelen.

This hotel is set in a historical building and they have designed a beautiful hotel around all of it’s exquisite features. The staff are sublime, welcoming, efficient and they really care. The food is exceptional, I had the Tuna Nicoise salad and it was the yummiest I’ve ever had! The rooms are chic and spotless, the beds are beyond comfy and I really did not want to leave.

The shower is temperamental. One second mild to warm, then so hot it could scald.

Liked the size of the room and everything about the room except for the pillows, and would have liked to have a bigger fridge. The hotel is really beautiful and will definitely stay there again:)
