Beautiful rooms in a lovely Art Nouveau house. The location was perfect: quiet, but just around the corner from the main square with cafes and shops. Getting to a hotel after a long flight is always tiring, so it was a comfort and a joy to meet the welcoming, wise, helpful, and entertaining host. A bountiful, gourmet, made-to-order breakfast was served in the charming kitchen, warmed by an Aga stove. Mechelen is a wonderful city to visit, a convenient taxi ride from the airport, and perfect entry point for a trip to Belgium and France. We hope to stay at Lunatree again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Luna Tree - Serge, our host, was hugely informative and helpful. His breakfasts were AMAZING - a cooked breakfast every morning with a variety of freshly made bread from the local bakers every morning, fruit, muesli, the works ... And the private bathroom for the room came with the hugest bathtub and a great shower. Amazing furniture and details throughout. And a fabulous location, just minutes away from Grote Markt.

The two flights of steep stairs to get to our room were a bit of a challenge at the end of the day, but Serge was brilliant and helped with our luggage on arrival and departure.

Breakfast was terrific - a huge range of fresh fruit, cheese, bread, charcuterie & cooked breakfast. Serge is a generous and hospitable host who offered fascinating insight into Mechelen, his home and interests. The house is beautiful to spend time in and we very much appreciated the lovely decor and the interesting conversations we had. Location is superb - literally 2 minute walk to the centre and main cathedral. You couldn’t get a better place to stay . Thank you, Serge.

Serge and Ingrid are excellent hosts and are both thoughtful and helpful. The apartment is outstanding. It is very spacious, quiet, clean, comfortable and affordable. The treehouse room near the garden is perfect for relaxing and listening to music. You can listen to music in each room in the apartment which is fantastic. The collected works of Shakespeare in the main bedroom helps too. The breakfast is of exceptional quality. The apartment is in a great neighborhood that is within walking distance of really interesting attractions. I wish I could have stayed longer. Thanks again to the hosts for a fabulous experience.

This is a lovely place to stay , conveniently situated near the centre of delightful Mechelen , Lunatree is in a delightful old house that is lovingly tended by owner Serge. The room was fine , good bed , chair and even a section of CD's that could be played on an excellent sound system. The bathroom was very large and tastefully appointed , all the products were of good quality with an eye to their environmental impact. Breakfast was good with cooked food on offer as well as a continental offering , all the food was really high quality and clearly sourced with care. Serge is an excellent host , available for advice and for a chat but not obtrusive. We will certainly return to Lunatree.

It was all good but bear in mind that the letting rooms are on the top floors of an old property so a reasonable level of physical fitness is required , also bathrooms , although private are down a flight of stairs from the bedrooms.

Serge is a fabulous host. The house, built in the early 1900s, is fabulous. Spacious, full of original featuers. But Serge has made it into an ode to 20th century design. Every item of furniture and every appliance has been picked carefully. The rooms are large and airy and the location is perfect for the centre of Mechelen. You can see the cathedral tower from one of the bedrooms. The breakfast is fabulous, with everything served on designer crockery. Highly recommended.

This B&B is something else: a unique house filled with a Pandora's box of design. We rented the suite, which has a living room, a garden terrace and a sitting room with wood burner - in addition to the double bedroom. Quiet, comfortable and clean, and a lovely host to welcome you and make you a yummy breakfast. The cathedral and city centre are a few minutes walk, and a car park is located under the cathedral.

This is not a place for the less mobile: there are many (narrow) staircases to climb. Note that you do not have your own kitchen facilities - but if you ask the host nicely, he can heat things up for you. There are coffee & tea making appliances in the bedroom though.

An amazingly beautiful house in the heart of Mechelen. Vintage and beautifully decorated. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was made with love by the owner. We only came for one night for Tomorrowland, but we'll make sure to come back to visit Mechelen; the owners can give you a lot of tips and tell you a lot of stories about the history of the city. We can surely recommend the location; you will get a fantastic vibe!

Everything was perfect

Lunatree is in a great location, within easy walking distance of the main attractions and restaurants in the historical centre. The property has an eclectic mix of furniture and furnishings, including antique items, that provide for a wonderful stay. Serge is keen to share the history and provenance of his house and items contained therein - about which he is most engaging and enthusiastic. The breakfast is well-prepared and includes a range of local cheeses and breads, with eggs and bacon to order. Overall, a memorable stay. Lunatree and Mechelen are well worth repeat visits.

Excellent central location within five minutes walk from the stunning tower of St. Rumbold's Cathedral and the Grote Markt. Also, very close to Het Anker Brewery and the UNESCO listed Large Beguinage. Serge the owner's creativity shone throughout the house in which we were made to feel very welcome. A fascinating layout and mixture of furniture, art and music. Wished we could have stayed longer asking questions about the property and Mechelen. An artisan breakfast fuelled us for our day on the bike!
