American family of 3 staying 1 night as a stop off hotel, driving from England to Germany. Pleasantly surprised. Booked 2 days in advance. Large, flat car park on the grounds with convenient, secure, inexpensive parking. CLEAN and well maintained hotel and room. Large attic level family room with pull out couch. Walked about 5 mins to a Pizza Hut take out opposite the church. Plenty more shops and restaurants in this area too. TV with loads of English speaking channels - hard to find in Europe. Comfy bed and strong, hot shower. Breakfast was FANTASTIC!! Much improved over previous reviews with many choices hot and cold and a great coffee machine. Interesting history with it being an old prison building. 100 % would stay again next time we drive over. Cannot speak to Vilvoorde, other than a nice looking town, easy to get to off of the ring road and convenient for our road trip. Affordable room. Thank you - staff was great!

Honestly, nothing for our short one nighter but just a note that the lift only goes to floor level 2. If staying in family rooms on the 3rd level, you will need to walk up 1 flight of stairs.

The building is amazing , wonderful spaces , high ceilings, lovely old and new combinations . For somewhere with maybe a slightly dark past , it felt peaceful and positive. The staff were fantastic , and the breakfast was the best continental breakfast I've had ( and I've stayed in a lot of hotels ) we only stayed for one night but next time we would like to stay longer .

Personally, there was nothing I didn't like , the car park doesn't belong to the Hotel so you have to pay for it but it's a lovely court yard safe feeling car park right next to the Hotel so I think it was a bonus and not a negative.

Better air conditioning would be good as we were really hot!

The staff at the reception desk and in the kitchen were very friendly and accomodating. I loved the buffet style breakfast served and the delicious coffee. My room had everything I needed, a comfortable bed, a fine bathroom with hot water and a heater, and overall it was very quiet. Also, the location of the lodge is ideal and in walking distance of many places I liked to go to. I very much enjoyed going for walks in the surrounding area.

There was nothing I disliked in particular.

Excellent breakfast, friendly and helpful staff, great location. Has adjacent public parking for 6 EUR a day or by the hour if needed. Room was clean and spacious. Rooms enough for 2 adults and 2 children (10+) to share the sofa bed. Room had a small fridge and kettle but no coffee or tea.

The.decor and lighting in our room was very modern but very atmospheric (i.e. dark) and perhaps a little too much for a family. Room was warm, air conditioning was not adjustable but the window could be opened nice and wide so not a big problem. Would stay again, no question.

Excellent location, great breakfast and very nice staff. 10 min away from the train station and bus station, close to very good restaurants for all budgets, 5 min away from a public playground. Breakfast is the same every morning, but excellent options, hot and always refilled. The hotel itself is great, a perfect blend of the present with the past, very modern equipped but with a historical nostalgy. The staff we have interacted with have been very, very pleseant and helpfull. We visited bruxelles for 5 days (initially we only booked for 2 nights stay but we extended our stay with 2 more nights) and the staying at this hotel made our holiday a lot easier.

The only downside of all was the housekeeping, which was not at the standards of the hotel when we first arrived. But letting the reception know our concerns, things have improved significantly.

Great hotel, clean and comfortable. Nice and charming environment. I had to be at an event in ING Arena (former Palais12) which was only a 12 minutes drive from the hotel. I would stay here again.

If I had to pick one point of improvement it was that at arrival there was nobody at the reception because the lady doing the check-in was serving people at the cafe. Nevertheless, the lady was very nice and professional and apologized for the delay and I was not in a rush so it did not bother me that much.

The breakfast and staff were excellent. The location was convenient, with restaurants and nature nearby. The rooms were clean and comfortable.

I noticed that the room I was staying in had a very strong perfume scent. I left the window open the entire afternoon and into the next morning and it was still persistent. If the scent is from an air freshener or other ambient source, please consider using a lighter fragrance in the future, as strong scents can trigger migraines for some individuals. Really nice location, everything super clean. My place was huge! Giant room with lot of space around the bed, directly under the roof with wooden beams, really beautiful! Also big bathroom with bathtub and all the facilities into the room. All the people so nice and international breakfast served. If I will be back in Belgium, I will stay there again!

My stay was too short.

We stayed here a few times after events close by, and the value for money is very good compared to staying in Brussels. Very friendly staff at the desk and spacious, clean rooms. 24/7 Desk for check-in as well for late arrivals. The history of the building (old prison) adds to the experience, and the story is told throughout the building with small informational texts/displays.
