We would highly recommend the Metterra on Whyte!! The staff (Nisha, James and Garam) went above and beyond to ensure our comfort. The valet service is so reasonably priced and made coming and going so effortless. The location was superb in terms of walking about ... unique shopping and great eating!! The breakfast buffet was exceptional!! The rooms are clean and cozy. A nice large bathroom with excellent water pressure! I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.

The only concern we had was that the room was a bit warm ... a/c not available in October. We opened the window ... which helped. I also wished that they provided magnifying mirrors for 'old eyes'. Aside ftom those minor considerations, we had thf most magnificent stay!!

My stay at the hotel was very pleasant, everything was fine. What I especially liked was the size of the room – it was spacious and very comfortable, and the location of the hotel was excellent. The receptionist who welcomed me at check-in was very kind and helpful, which left a great first impression. I was also delighted to find a coffee machine in the room with plenty of capsules available at all times. A special touch was the bottle of water that the staff left after cleaning the room. Breakfast was tasty and varied. I would have liked the menu to change a little from time to time (for example, on weekends when breakfast lasts longer, I was hoping for waffles or pancakes), but that did not take away from the experience. Overall, my four nights at the hotel were excellent, and I would definitely recommend this accommodation to others.

The complimentary breakfast had many choices and all were fresh and hot. Coffee and juice refills were offered many times by staff walking around the breakfast area. The location is very convenient for us as we were going to the Cook Count Saloon which was only a couple of blocks away. The valet parking was wonderful and priced fairly. The delivery of the car on morning checkout was prompt.

On the weekends there is a bit of traffic noise issue on Whyte Ave., but earplugs are placed in the room. We ask for a room in the back of the hotel to lessen this. this request has always been fulfilled.

The coffee was wonderful, once I figured out the Illy machine. The breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I have had. Walks distance to so many restaurants and pubs. Short drive to the U of A hospital where we had an appointment. The staff were very friendly. Quite clean and comfortable.

There was no place to park for the valet parking (full) and no instructions on where to park for the self parking option. Drove around the bloke numerous times before finding a place to park around the corner…but then had to hope no tickets would be given before the valet moved our car. I had booked partially based on pictures showing bathtub in rooms. There was not one. Very disappointing. The beds were comfortable but very low. Anyone older or with mobility issues would have a difficult time with them. This should be noted when people are booking. The charging station on the night table needed cleaning.

I'd stayed at the other two properties owned by this group before- the Varscona just up the street and the Matrix downtown. Of the three, the Meterra was by far the least expensive option and I've walked by it many times on previous visits to Edmonton, so I decided to give it a chance. I'm very happy that I did! My room was huge, with a very, VERY comfortable bed, good HVAC and operable windows. It was also quiet. I slept really well. The location on Whyte Ave is superb with many dining and coffee (really excellent coffee at Labo!) options steps away. Included breakfast is very adequate. I'll stay here again.

This is the first time for us to stay at this hotel. We have stayed 4 nights. It is very enjoyable. Everyone there is very friendly. The hotel is on Whyte Avenue that has lots of history of old Edmonton. The place is super safe too. The room is clean. The breakfast is very good. Last but noy least, the front desk staff's services are excellent. We specifically should mention Goby and Graham. They are very nice, thoughtful and willing to help. Thank you !

The location is great for walking around Whyte Ave. Great views of downtown. Spacious room with very comfortable bed. Great shower and bathtub, nice and hot and great water pressure! Breakfast is very good, something for everyone.

Fireplace in my first room didn't work, staff were very helpful in switching me to another room. The second fireplace worked, technically, but would often go out unexpectedly and then flare up...which was a bit alarming. I noticed a carbon monoxide detector, which was good, but still not ideal.

great hotel, but old, but they advertise balcony rooms, charge extra, they don't have balconies, they do not they are locked, you can't open them, no smoking hotel, which is fine, but you can normally smoke on a balcony or enjoy the view, how is it right to charge extra, and not give you access to a balcony???? Also so many drug addicts, but I guess that's all of Edmonton

The breakfast buffet was very good. It was small but always fresh and was continually replenished. The 'happy hour' glass of wine and half-off appetizers in the evening was a nice touch. The valet parking was good. Self parking is a bit cheaper but I would go with valet again. Wifi is great and fast. Despite being on Whyte Ave, we found the room quite quiet which was nice.

When we checked the first room we were given the bed spread had a stain on it. When we complained to the front desk they did correct it, gave us a nicer room, and gave complementary valet parking for the stay.

Hotel offers a buffet style breakfast. Options include scrambled and boiled eggs, bacon, sausage, and potatoes along with an assortment of bread, muffins and other baked items and yogurt and fruits. Coffee and juices were also available. Overall breakfast was very good and the breakfast location was nice and cosy. Hotel location is great! Close to dozens of restaurants and boutique shops. The hotel is also linked to Ampersand 27 (restaurant) and you get a 10% at the restaurant for staying at the hotel. I tied Ampersand 27 and food was very good but more expensive than some surrounding restaurants.

My room had 2 queen beds. One was in good shape, the other had a very old mattress that needed replacement. Bathroom and room was clean but the walls did have some stains on them. Looked like oil type stains.
