I absolutely loved Campbell River and the Above Tide was a great place to stay. Paul on reception couldn't have been more helpful and checking in and out was simple and quick. The apartment was great with loads of room for the two of us. The views are stunning, and I loved watching the resident hummingbirds and bald eagle every morning and evening. The bed is big and comfortable, the kitchen well equipped (though a dishwasher would be a good addition) and the bathroom is roomy with a decent shower. The balcony was the highlight for me and I think we spent more time out on it than in the room. We saw an amazing moon rise and the stars were incredible. We only stayed two nights, but could easily have stayed for a week, and I will definitely stay again if I'm ever lucky enough to visit Campbell River in the future.

The balcony could have been a little wider and I would have loved a slimline dishwasher in the kitchen, otherwise I wouldn't change a thing :)

Friendly staff and quickly accommodated any requests ie extra towels.

The very noisy road in the back of the hotel which is located dirctely on that busy road with traffic going by very late and very early. ****I ONLY book hotels that have air conditioning. This hotel stated it had Air Conditioning.....this is very misleading since I DONOT consider upright fans in each room air conditioning!!! There is a tiny approx 12”x18” AC unit in the bedroom window, which hardly does anything. We had to open the sliding door and back door on the noisy highway side to get it cooled off.

Balcony and view were great - very nice place to sit and have coffee, read, etc. Bed was quite comfortable. Location was very good - close enough to town and it's nice being right on the water. Be aware that the location means that the tradeoff for your proximity to the water and the lovely view is a lot of highway noise from the other side of your room. It's not hard to tune out, but it's not a super peaceful getaway place.

The bug infestation (small flies) that kept erupting from the overflow drain of the bathroom sink was a downer, as it got worse over the course of our stay. Walls do not muffle sound very well and rooms are fairly small - the baby next door cried a LONG time and we got to hear it all, both through the walls and through the open (screened) sliding door to our balcony - assuming the neighbors' door was open as well, which made sense, as the temperature was cool in the evenings and the in-wall old-fashioned AC unit was EXTREMELY loud. Parking is a bit cramped - not easy to get in and out of the spaces, but doable in our car.

The beds were comfortable, and Paul was very friendly and helpful. View from the room was very nice, and there was a lovely breeze coming in from the water. Nice sites close by, and close (by car) to lots of shopping and restaurant experiences. (Beautiful waterfall views at Elk Falls.)

Parking lot was very tight and sometimes a challenge to get an SUV in. But, that is not really something that can be helped due to the limited distance between the front of the motel and the road. Locks on doors could be updated. Coversation from upstairs neighbors could be heard clearly late into the night.

My wife and I have stayed in Campbell river on our travels from the UK several times and always choose this motel as our preferred choice. It is located right on the coastal highway and gives easy access to and from the town. The view from the room balcony as the sun rises really is a great start to the day. We have, over the years seen humpback 🐋 Wales from the balcony and this last visit had a pod of dolphins go past against the tide barely 50 metres from the shore. There are laundry facilities on site, at 3 dollars for washing and the same to dry.

Although there is parking in front of the rooms, take care when entering as space between large vehicles and a retaining wall can be a bit tight.

THE VIEW! You can’t beat it! I had a king suite and it had two big beds - one in a separate bedroom and a full kitchen, dining table, outside seating etc! No housekeeping unless you ask which I liked. Coffee machine and supplies provided.

From the outside it looks like a boring motel. It’s a little dated inside but the view makes up for it. The room got very hot! I didn’t use the AC because they said it I didn’t have it (maybe it just didn’t work) the sea breeze is great but you need front and back open to make it actually cool the room down.

Really helpful and understanding host. We had heard it was possible to see black bears, and the host was happy to explain where in the area was a good place to see them catching salmon from the river. We had a comfortable room with sufficient beds for the four of us. Fridge and coffee maker. Would we recommend? Yes. Would we stay again? Definitely!

Two double beds rather than one double and two twin, but we knew this would be the case, as as it seems to be usual across Canada at our budget end of the market we were happy to work with this.

The view from our room and balcony was amazing. We spent our spare time looking for wildlife whilst sat on the balcony. Unfortunately we didn’t see any whales but we did see hummingbirds, herons and eagles. The room was well equipped with a kettle, coffee maker, fridge and microwave. There wasn’t any crockery or cutlery but that’s fairly standard in a motel. Everywhere was spotless and everyone was very obliging providing more coffee when we’d run out.

The woman at check in was exceedingly kind. Our flight got delayed, which then affected our ferry to the island. She was willing to alter our reservation to accommodate our sudden change in plans. She was also very kind and helpful during our stay. The view from the room and balcony was very beautiful and peaceful. I spent one morning just watching the hummingbirds and tide roll in. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again if in the area!

Lana on reception was extremely friendly and helpful during our stay. The room had a great view over the ocean and we were lucky enough to see humpback whales, bald eagles and hummingbirds from outside our room. At reception we could get cutlery so that we could have some food in the room. The bed was comfortable, we had a table and a coffee machine and the shower was warm.
