February 2025

I visited with a group of friends, and appreciated the fact that all rooms opened onto a common lounge area, providing a great space to gather before heading down Baker street. The rooftop hot tub and downstairs sauna were perfect after two big days at Whitewater.

I was unable to reserve an evening spot before heading out to ski for the day (no one was at the desk when we left, and when we returned they seemed to not have gotten the message I left), but we got the time we wanted on returning later that afternoon. I would have been disappointed if it had been busier and was already booked, since this was the main reason we chose the Savoy over other hotels in town.

Room and second floor lounge area were nicely renovated, quiet, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was notable for a multi-head surround shower and heated towel rack. The king bed was comfortable with a heavier duvet cover. The hvac kept the room at a comfortable temperature and shuts off automatically when a window is open, which is an appreciated energy saving feature. The communal kitchen was convenient, although we only used it to boil water for tea. We didn’t use the hot tub or the roof top patio so cannot comment on those amenities.

The checkin area was located in a hallway-like area, normally vacant and somewhat utilitarian. The staff, once summoned, were efficient but not overly friendly or welcoming. Other minor disappointments were painting equipment and supplies spread out in the second floor lounge area when we checked in (later removed and tidied) and an ottoman with a broken hinge that left the top askew.

The room was nicely decorated, just slightly small. There is a microwave in the common area and a big thank you to the staff for helping us find 2 bowls that could be used for heating. There is also a hot tub on the roof and a sauna in the building that requires a reservation

Attention: There is no 24-hour free parking in the town, including the 3 spaces in front of the hotel entrance and other street parking, which is free from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m. Be careful to get up early and drive away before 9 a.m.

The location of the Savoy Hotel can't be beat. It's right on Baker Street in the heart of Nelson. The room is nicely furnished and modern. The staff were great and the check-in/out process was very easy. The rooftop veranda is nice, we didn't get in the hot tub but it looked like a great soak.

The shower is interesting but seems to have some features that don't work (steam, extra nozzles etc....). The room was clean but not spotless, especially the bathroom. A Nespresso machine is a nice touch but there was no creamer of any kind to put in your coffee.

This little hotel has old school, down-to-earth appeal. And, with two restaurants and a nightclub down below, it has a vibe! There's even a little hot-tub on the roof which is a nice touch. The location was easy to find after a long drive, and just a short walk from Baker street which we loved exploring. Unlike the other hotels we stayed at during our trip, the Savoy was excellent with communication and was a great value.

We didn't have any real complaints. We enjoyed our stay.

The location is fab - the rooms are clean and well appointed - the lounge area is lovely - the staff were excellent

Our room was very small and also noisy due to the aircon installation just outside . The staff were great , they understood our issues and took the room out of use. They had no other spare rooms so we moved hotels. They did not charge us for the night we stayed due to the shortcomings. We could not have asked for the issue to be dealt with any better .

The rooftop hot tub was absolutely fabulous. We booked it for sunset and we weren't disappointed 😁 There's no elevator, so pack light. Staff was very kind and assisted me with my bags. Also, nespresso (coffee) machines in the room #amazing Beautiful showers (multi head sprayers) and heated bathroom floors and towel racks...❤

No parking at the hotel, there's 2 or 3 (pay) street parking spaces. free hotel parking is 5ish blocks away, I elected to park in the pay parking structure next to the Hume hotel 2 (blocks away) as its very secure. (I feel anyway) No elevator...although staff are happy to assist you.

Great location; helpful staff; enjoyed sauna and hot tub. Convenient parking.

I've stayed at the Savoy before. This time, my room (#4) was small in comparison to a previous stay. The three shower dispensers should be labeled (no idea which was soap, shampoo, conditioner).

Room comfort, furnishing and amenities very good. Loved the bathroom tile work, delux shower and towel heaters. Comfortable bed. Nice, clean sauna close to room and central sitting and kitchen area. Roof top lounge and hot tub area has great views of the city and mountains.

Hot tub was clean but water greenish with algae. Water needs to be changed and rebalanced.

The service from Ben, and his staff was outstanding. We asked for help and advice and they were most accommodating. The location was great so close to town. Parking was allocated for 8 out of 11 rooms which was good for us, as we arrived early.

Saturday night is nightclub night, so earplugs were necessary. There is a general common lounge area which, on our night, was noisy due to patrons having a party. We were in room 11, which is small, as the web page advises and has a tiny window, more of a skylight. The bathroom has a good window with views of the mountains.
