I had stayed at the Arbutus last year with my sister and we had a lovely suite with kitchen. This year I was on my own so asked for only a small room. It was certainly small as advertised. This was the least expensive room in the hotel with a double bed and about two feet of walking around space. Since I was mostly in the room to sleep, it wasn't too bad, but I would not recommend it for a longer stay.

The National Car Rental site is at the hotel and people were washing cars outside my window from early morning. The air conditioner was needed in the small space and it did not work terribly well. It was also very noisy.

I wanted a room with two beds when I made the reservation from the picture I saw on the internet. As I continued with the web page I was asked how many adults. Now I'm alarmed, as the picture shows two beds. I request two beds and get a reservation and I'm told they will honor my request at no additional charge. When we arrive I'm told I reserved a room with one king bed. Fortunately a two bedroom suite was available at a modest price increase so everything worked out.

We are 82 and 78 years old and we had to carry our luggage up a flight of stairs. Not enough soap for two people.

This old hotel is adorable!! Super cute and clean! Staff was warm and friendly, check in was a breeze. They lock the door to the floors and rooms after a certain hour due to the demographic in the area. I appreciated that and felt safe there.

Its unfortunate that this super cute, clean and with awesome staff is where it is. Its so close to downtown but unfortunately surrounded by homeless people using drugs. Zombies downing out everywhere. Felt like my vehicle may be unsafe, however we did not have any problems.

Kitchen supplies were adequate. Large fridge. The TV was not working on our arrival. The staff were very responsive and gave us a small room price discount for the days without TV. . When removing the TV , it became clear that more thorough regular dusting and cleaning would be essential. The room price was OK as hotel prices in Victoria are quite high. But the total bill included an additional 19% due to a city charge and a 3% energy surcharge being added to the gst and hst.

A group of seven of us stayed for two nights as we were competing in a Dragon Boat Pentathlon. The location was perfect to get to the Gorge waterway The rooms were spacious very clean and quite. There was plenty of parking on site. The bathroom was very clean with a big shower. I would definitely recommend this motel for a short stay, it was not far to downtown

Location was great, easy to find our way downtown etc The front foyer was lovely and inviting. The hotel was clean and tidy. Rooms were a great size and comfortable beds. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

I would suggest updating the air-conditioning units. They are extremely loud. We were a little confused that there was no restocking or housekeeping over our multiple nights stay. It would have been nice to get our tea and coffees, milk and sugar restocked even if our beds were not remade.

We were looking for a one night stop in Victoria before we picked up a car and headed north. Arbutus Inn was chosen and paid for well in advance and proved to be perfect for our needs. Reception were friendly, welcoming and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. There is an excellent cafe (Spoons) across the road that does great coffee and breakfast. We had already booked our hire car from another provider but had we booked the accommodation first we could have used National desk located in the lobby.

There are no dining facilities on site (Dennys and Spoons nearby). It is a 45min walk with cases to the bus depot. We shoiuld have called a cab! The price we paid was very high compared to what we could have paid in the day. That's the price of certainty that we had somewhere to sleep, I guess.

We booked two rooms. The rooms were very good, very clean. The beds were comfortable.

The circuits may need additional maintainence. When we heated instant food with microwave, the power went out. We were in a hurry, so we used other room's microwave. The ventilation may need improvement too. We had to open window for fresh air.

The whole Inn seems to be renovated and it is better from inside than our looks from the outside.

They didn't accept the same card I used to make the reservation (a KOHO card) for some strange reason that I've never heard of before (I was on a road trip, and I used this same card in all bookings without any problems), something about the card not being an actual credit card, what it is not a valid claim as I use it everywhere, even overseas. I had another card with me, so I had to use it , but by doing that, I missed the rewards I would get from the partnership between KOHO and Booking.com

Surprisingly nice hotel. Felt very safe here although the area didnt look that safe outside.
