Beautiful historic building in the harbour. Close to sights downtown. Well maintained and clean. Spacious and comfortable room We arrived at midnight. The night attendant Erica, was so welcoming and attentive. À great start to our holiday in Newfoundland. Thank you Erica! The continental breakfast was not elaborate but adequate.

Unfortunatly, we did not get the same warmth from the day attendants. We never got a good morning or a hello as we came in or out during our 3 nights stay. Most of the time, they were not busy behind the counter. Most were on there mobile phones. On our last morning, as we paid our bill, the only words from the attendant was..do you want a paper copy? No goodbye , no “enjoy your trip!”, no “thank you for staying with us” , or no “how was your stay?” There was only one other client leaving..3 attendants behind the counter….🤷🏻‍♀️ just disappointing. A reminder that a smile and greeting people goes a long way😃

The hotel was in a great location, right across from the harbour. They had a private parking lot and a pass was required. The front desk staff were very polite and helpful when I asked about city tours. Our room was huge with a huge bed that had crispy white sheets. The room also had a whirlpool bath that was relaxing after a long day of driving and a fireplace. The actual bathroom was very large with a glass doored shower that was shiny clean. A towel warmer was outside the shower and provided warm, cozy luxury after using the three shower heads. The breakfast was standard continental style with assorted pastries and coffee and juice. The inside of the building and rooms had exposed wooden beams that I think were part of the original structure.

The elevator was very shaky and bumpy and made loud clunking noises. I was a bit scared the first time I used it. The luggage cart carpet was worn and dirty. The breakfast was sufficient and the five tables that were provided were all taken so we ate breakfast on chairs using the coffee table. The croissants were not the freshest.

Very large (as in huge!) room, truly excellent location for getting to know St John’s, very friendly staff. Also, the hotel preserves a couple of historic buildings in the middle of town. For this alone it is to be highly commended - a wonderful thing to do to keep the town authentic and alive!

The continental breakfast (included in the room charge) was ok, but not something we would necessarily write home about. For example, offering some plain toast as an additional option to muffins and croissants would be nice, or some cold milk to go along with a cereal. Not a big deal, but maybe worth considering.

The things we liked about the hotel was the great location in proximity to the downtown core of St. John's, the free parking, the size and the character or the rooms.

The hotel could have been cleaner in the common areas, particularly the hallways floors and corners. We stayed at the property 4 nights and asked for the maid staff to clean our room once. The quality of the cleaning we received was mediocre. An upgrade in bedding by getting rid of blankets and bedspreads that you know are not washed with each stay. Replacing them with a duvet system featuring removable duvet covers would elevate the hotel experience to the next level.

Our check in was quick and easy. The room was great - big, had all the amenities, bed was comfy, two nice chairs instead of just one and the bathroom was big. The continental breakfast was what you would expect - variety of muffins, yogurt, coffee/tea, oatmeal packets and fruit. The shower/jacuzzi tub was great although we didn't use the jacuzzi tub, just the shower.

There was "Alexa" in the room that you could use for music, news or whatever. The problem was it was program for a wale up call at 7:20am which we did not set. The first morning we told her to shut up and she did. Later that morning, we told her to cancel the alarm. She didn't. For the three mornings straight, she woke us up at 7:20am. The management said they would fix it. Also, our room was down the hall up four steps and down the hall again. I use a walker so it was difficult. Unfortunately, the hotel was full so I couldn't switch rooms. The bathroom sink was slow to drain.

The location is amazing and very central , staff are very helpful and efficient. safe parking The have coffee, tea and yogurt available 24×7 Bathrooms n linen are well provided Are open to assist for early check in If you head up the steps from the back to Queens Road you will find a small convenience store or there is Dolarama on the left of the Hotel On Queens road is a pharmacy should you need meds or a dr Further down is a liquor store

As the roads are blocked poor Google gets confused.. just stick to Harbour drive and opposite to Kegs steakhouse is the entry. They dont provide a kettle in the room. Breakfast is very basic . Lighting is poor in the new block The elevator is not marked and am sure u will not find it..

Location, location. This hotel is conveniently located within a close walking distance to everything. It's a charming property. Staff were inviting and accommodating. The king-size suite with fireplace was large and clean. We loved the Spa shower and definitely appreciated the heated bathroom floors. The bed and pillows allowed for a comfortable nights sleep.We would definitely book again.

Although the hotel has tons of character, it's dark, the carpet in the rooms makes it feel dated. Although it didn't bother us, street noise( pub music) and other guest rooms could be heard easily through the walls.

STAFF always efficient and friendly. BREAKFAST a generous continental offering. Limited number of tables at breakfast but the manager kindly suggested we take any comfy chairs in the entry area and those had small tables. FACILITIES included a welcome possibility to do laundry in their nearby establishment. ROOM was very spacious and comfortable. Loved the exposed stone and wood ceiling beams. LOCATION was fabulously close to downtown.

Nothing to flag. Was a "lingering odour" in room but definitely not a deal breaker.

The breakfast was fine. Yogurt, muffins, coffee, fruit, granola bars. Clean & tidy. The location was FANTASTIC! Right in the middle of the tourist area with entrance onto Water Street with restaurants, shops, tour headquarters, etc. This was the main reason we chose this hotel.

The bed pillows were huge, lumpy and made of chipped foam. Ugh! I was on a trip to St. John's with my 14-year-old granddaughter. The suite we got might have been a honeymoon suite and that required a bit of adjustment on our part. There were glass walls from the sitting area into the bathtub area and also into the bedroom. Hmmm! But we managed. Didn't feel the need to complain or to request a change.

The building was beautiful and the room was very attractive, clean, and comfortable. The staff was very nice and helpful. The lobby was nicely decorated, as were the rooms. Very nice bathrooms (with heated towel racks, and a whirlpool tub), and lovely furnishings.

The a/c in our room was not working well at all, so we had to open our windows, which was hot for the first few hours of trying to sleep, but better when things cooled down. The weather was unseasonably hot, apparently. We should have let the staff know, but we figured that was a big job that probably couldn't be fixed quickly or easily, so we didn't say anything (our fault). Although there were many lamps in the room, it was still very dark, difficult to see anything, except in the bathroom.
