Beautiful historic and character-filled home on scenic, quiet Hermans Island, 10 minute drive from Mahone Bay and 15 from Lunenburg. It was an ideal stay for our family gathering (extra appreciated that it was dog friendly). The house was much more spacious than expected based on the photos. We enjoyed watching the sailboats, birds, and deer from the porch and backyard, and making big meals in the modern kitchen. Note that the “abandoned pool” referenced in some older reviews has been removed and landscaped over. Would return.

There were a few items missing from the kitchen, so if you’re self catering, plan ahead and pack accordingly.

Very cute room with awesome decor. The room was also super quiet, even with the neighbour's barking dogs; they sounded very muffled. The room was very very clean and had everything we needed. The location was perfect too! Just a few doors down was and NSLC within walking distance, but the restaurant, Betty's has a very large wine list if you don't feel like walking that far. We also had dinner at Betty's and it was incredible. Wood fire oven pizza, a baked brie and a half baked chocolate chip cookie with a glass of wine on the side and we were in heaven. If you go, I recommend the pizza with buffalo sauce. It wasn't spicy, but very rich in flavour and easily our favourite! The staff was also super friendly and easy to talk too and very kind. The environment was cozy and romantic too. 10/10 would both stay at the Kitch'inn and eat at Betty's again!

We had a good time all around! My only comment would be for traveller's who have difficulty with stairs, from what I could tell, it seems all the rooms are up a flight of stairs, so keep that in mind when making your booking. We enjoyed the views personally!

The place was lovely. It only has three rooms, but the one I stayed in was very clean and comfortable and well put together. There was coffee and snacks in the room, the shower was hot and had great pressure, and the owner Danielle was very nice and helpful. There is a pizza place on the same property, which I did not try, but I could smell it and it smelled like it was probably good! Also I had my bike with me, and Danielle let me put it in her garage overnight.

The check in is not until 4 pm, which is a little late, and I did request an early arrival through Booking, but only got a form email back saying that the property would assess early check in when I arrived. However, when I arrived at 3 pm, there was nobody there and no instructions on what I was supposed to do (it is a self check in, but this was not made clear to me beforehand). It would have been nice for the form email to either say that early check in was strictly not available, or give instructions that my key would be left in a certain location and I could check in, or give instructions to call someone when I arrived. I was left feeling a little confused as to what I was supposed to do when I arrived.

It’s the perfect place to stay in Mahone Bay - close enough to the historic town of Lunenberg for an easy day trip and far enough away to miss the hordes of tourists. The Kitch’inn had everything we needed for a relaxing stay - a grill, comfortable bed, great restaurant a step away and even wine and spirits store right across the street! Loved all the hiking trails close by and the amazing scenery. We even stayed an extra day thanks to our accomadating host. I can’t say enough good things about this sweet spot in a beautiful town slightly off the beaten path!!

Loved it all!

The room was large and bright and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Great A/C and netflix, and lovely attention to detail with almost everything you may have forgotten in the room such as hair dryer and straightener, charging cords and toiletries. Even a little breakfast of granola bars and yogurt in the fridge along with a lovely nesspresso maker for coffee in the morning. The resturanut downstairs (Betty's) is delicious with an awesome wood burning pizza stove. The staff were friendly and charming. It was the best stay of our entire trip!

The stairs up to the room are a bit steep as it's an old house. No problem for us but could be an problem fo guests with mobility issues.

We had a wonderful two night stay at Kitch'inn which was a great base for exploring beautiful Mahone Bay and nearby Lunenburg. Our "Taco Room" was very comfortable and had everything we needed for a weekend stay. We LOVED the wine bar downstairs - especially the delicious woodfired pizza. Yummo! And the fabulous musician on Saturday night. We enjoyed ourselves so much we went back again the following night and tried the camembert baked in the woodfired oven - delish. The staff were all very friendly and efficient. Loved that we could self check in and out.

Loved loved loved this unique and quirky bed & breakfast! Well-appointed space, very clean and it had all we needed for our 2-night stay! The host provided some breakfast bars, snacks, and some yogurt which was much appreciated! Having Betty's restaurant just downstairs was a PLUS! Excellent food and wonderful, friendly, and helpful staff! Check-in was easy peasy and parking very convenient! The location was also very convenient to explore Mahone Bay and the town of Lunenburg, a UNESCO Heritage site was just a short drive away!

There is no elevator and all suites are on the second floor. The stairs are narrow and steep so if you have trouble carrying heavy luggage or navigating stairs this might be a challenge. The property is located on a major road. While it was quiet during sleeping hours, the traffic can be quite heavy early AM and late afternoon.

Very comfie. Two of us shared one room and the third person the other. Perfect as we could wander back and forth between the two rooms. Close to the downtown which made it easy for walking.

We weren’t entirely sure about the locking arrangements for the front door when going out. We entered the code when we first got there to get in with no problem but weren’t entirely sure what to do when we went out to lock up again. The door was unlocked when we came back although we were sure we had locked it as we checked it before leaving. Tried both phone numbers given to check but no answer at either.

We had room #1 which has an avocado/taco theme ( very cute ). It is located directly above the restaurant which worried us a little when we first checked in but there was minimal noise that evening . The small kitchenette with everything you need for a quick breakfast ( including Nespresso machine and pods ) was perfect. And the location is great - just a quick walk down to ‘town’ or up to the trail system that we like walking on. Just a wonderful stay for our 5th anniversary!

This is our second stay at the Kitch, and I have to say Danielle and staff NEVER disapoint! The room is fully stocked with coffee and snacks, has a bathroom with a spa tub and all the bath items you could ever want, including fluffy bathrobes, AC, huge tv and the most important...a very comfy bed! We also booked dinner downstairs and had a wonderful meal on the patio while listening to an excellant singer, Doug Hawko. Another perfect stay at The Kitch!

Absolutely nothing! It was all perfect!
