We stayed at Ben Miller Inn several years ago and loved it. We wanted to take a few days away and to celebrate an anniversary. When we arrived we realised that it was a little more difficult then we remembered. Both my husband and I have mobility issues and unfortunately Ben Millar is not accessible but we managed as we had a ground floor room booked with a lovely view over the pond with a balcony. The room was huge. As you enter the room there is a huge closet and in the same area a lovely little coffee station with Keurig and fridge. This is behind doors. The main part of the room has a king size bed and night tables and the bedside lamps have places to plug in mobile phones etc. The other part of the room has a large flat screen tv with a 3 seater couch two large chairs with overhead lamps and a coffee table made from parts of machinary from the old woolen mill Incredible. The room also had patio doors out to the balcony overlooking the pond. There is plenty of room to put clothes away with 4 drawer dresser and other nooks and cranies. One great feature was there was a bar in the shower to grab onto is you need it. We were in the dinning room twice ,the first night our server was Madelaine and she was absolutely superb we would give her and 11 out of 10! The second night our server was Jackson and he also was superb another 11 out of 10. We enjoyed both evenings and the food was delicious, We did not go far the first two days as we took time to relax, read and knit. The third day we ventured into Goderich but unfortunatly the Courthouse Square had construction going on and we could not go to the places we wanted to but had a great meal at West side Willies, The drive to Goderich and back was lovely the scenery peaceful. All in all a great trip..

Being somewhat disabled there were a lot of steps to manage but as we were on the ground floor no stairs. This is a converted woolen mill with more than one building and it would be difficult to make it totally accessible. We managed.

- we ate our meals on the beautiful terrace, surrounded by flowers. Very attentive serving staff. - beautiful pool, very modern and clean.

- I would have liked more fruit on the menu, especially during this time of peak Ontario fruit harvest. - the main lodge has nowhere to sit outside except at the restaurant patio and a gazebo that is marked as 'smoking', and smells of smoke. It's a shame because there is a lovely stream and waterfall where it would be nice to have a few tables and benches beside. - the 'classic rooms' in the main lodge are small, with window AC units. Rooms in the other buildings are much nicer with lovely river views.

The setting was so beautiful: lovely, well-kept grounds, walks and gardens. It was clean and neat. The main floor lobby was appealing because of its heritage woodwork, comfortable chairs and atmosphere.

The room was very small, with only one comfy chair to relax - it needed another chair so that two of us could sit and read. There was no housekeeping for the three nights, so we had to use the same towels and the bed was not made. We had one breakfast in the dining room and i was really peeved to have to pay $4 for coffee and $4 for juice after paying $16.50 for the meal. There was no indication on the menu of the extra charges. There was elevator (which I knew and did not mind) but the curved staircase to the second floor was kind of dangerous for carrying up a suitcase.

Rooms were large and clean and very bright. Bedding was so nice and bed was super comfy. We faced the pond..it was peaceful.

Hotel stay was great..probably wouldn't return to restaurant. Food seemed dated. Stuffed mushroom were not good ..my chicken was dry. Husbands lambshank was very good. It was hot..there was a floor fan. Server was great.

Friendly staff. Beautiful rooms and setting. Historical buildings with character. Delicious food.

Room had light curtains for lower windows. Curved window above ,while beautiful, led to inability to sleep past 5 am…too bright if you’re used to sleeping in darkened rooms. Using air conditioner to lessen humidity. We sweated if we used the duvet or got too cold with just the sheet. Could not find happy medium. We therefore did not experience a good night’s sleep.

Love the ambience of the historic property and beautiful gardens. The dining room is lovely and the food was really good. Our room was very comfortable and spacious.

On the weekend of May 18, there were a lot of mayflies next to the river, so we could not really enjoy the patio. It was fine to go for a walk, just not for sitting. on the plus side there were a lot of birds too. It would have been better to stay in one of the rooms in the main inn.

Atmosphere was very nice, laid back, no need to rush

Food from the kitchen at dinner was less than to be desired. Cool potatoes, quantity was less than expected. The duck was over cooked. Drinks from the bar took forever to arrive, seemed to short staffed the evening we used the restaurant The hot tube needs a serious upgrade.

I loved the olde charm & what they could update in the Inn they did, like a super comfy bed, fresh smelling linens and heated bathrooms floors! Plus they brought us scones, not sure if that was to go with the tea or just what you get at breakfast but they were delish. Staff were all so kind and accommodating, plus helpful beyond what I expected

The prices of the regular breakfast were rather steep, but the Sunday brunch was absolutely worth it. The soap offered was good but I didnt like the shampoo or conditioner. The shampoo either didnt smell good or was old.

What a beautiful, serene setting! Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. We stayed in the Woollen Mill building. It was like stepping back in time. Our breakfast was included and it was delicious! We didn’t have dinner but had drinks on the patio when dinners were being brought out and they all looked like very generous portions.

What was not to like?

The setting and grounds were beautiful and clearly well maintained. As a country property along a creek it has a great deal of character.

There were no water bottles or ice machine available in our building. We had to go to the restaurant or bar to get these things.
