It was in a great location to stay for the Kitchener Bluesfest. They make the parking really easy at the lot across the street as they say. You get in and out privileges and just pay the hotel. It was so convenient. Great, comfy bed and pillows. Awesome shower. I didn’t like the coffee maker. I found it clunky and didn’t work properly. It was nice to have the little fridge. I stayed in a room backing onto the small courtyard. It was really quiet in spite of the music festival outside. There just isn’t a lot of light coming in the small window, but there is great lighting in the room. Check in and check out was lovely and easy. Great staff. Love the iced tea available as you check in.

The staff were lovely and very welcoming. Our King Room was very clean and well appointed. The parking arrangements were across the road in a new facility which was very high-tech.
We tried twice without success to reach the front desk by phone to inquire about parking arrangements for check-in and overnight. We ended up not knowing where to park for check-in so we drove around the block a couple of times before parking illegally for check-in. The was not clear on-line how the parking would work until it was explained to us at the front desk. The overnight parking arrangements ended up to be very good. Best to communicate by e-mail or through the website. The room size was very adequate for our purpose but felt smaller than the 28 m2 size, which I am sure it was.

Cute hotel, giant room. Very comfortable beds. Great location. The staff was attentive.
Parking was across the street, if you had a lot of luggage, it could be a haul getting it to the hotel. Also, once you're across the street, you had to step up on the curb, and up a step (or 2 I can't remember) to get into the hotel. On the floor we were on there were 2 steps to get to our room. We did not have any issues with that, but if you have mobility issues, you will want to ask if there is an easier way to get in and out especially with luggage.

The decor was so charming. I loved the sticky note of inspiration on the bathroom mirror. The signs in the parking garage that guided me to the hotel were perfect. I LOVED the nerf guns in the lobby. Staff were so friendly. I loved the “building awesome forts sign” as the do not disturb. Just a great vibe all around.
The bathroom door wouldn’t stay propped open if I wanted it to. The blinds still let in light from the windows. The room really wasn’t dark enough at night because the blinds didn’t cover the edges of the windows.

beautifully decorated and well kept. The staff were an absolute pleasure! Very helpful and friendly. You don't see that anymore so this was awesome! Loved the decor in the rooms and the bed was super comfortable!
The parking was a bit confusing. The enter and exit gates wouldn't open every time we left or came back although it was validated through the hotel. We had to call the parking garage multiple times to enter or exit which became frustrating for us. The only other thing I would say is that the bathroom fan/ceiling was rusty looking and could use a coat of paint. It didn't take away from our stay though.

This is a historic hotel that has been renovated. It is right downtown Kitchener, with lots of small restaurants, coffee shops and bars to keep you entertained. The room was beautiful and clean. The included breakfast was delicious.
Being a historic hotel right in the city centre, you could hear everything going on on the street. A white noise machine would have been preferable, but I made do with turning on the bathroom fan. Although the room was beautiful, it was awkwardly set up and did not allow for two people to watch TV while in bed. The service at breakfast was very long, but I was told someone did not show up for their shift that morning.

Hotel itself and the staff are amazing. They really make the vibe great for the stay. This was our 2nd or 3rd stay and we will definitely return.
Wish there was some kind of discount for parking, paying 40 for parking on top of stay is inconvenient compared to larger hotels with parking. There wasn't an option for a microwave in the room, not too many small towels, and our TV did not work. The staff advised us of the microwave downstairs and did offer to switch the rooms with a working TV, but it was okay. And extra towels and water was provided when asked. Again, having a great staff makes these hiccups better.

Location downtown Kitchener is great, nice old building with modern interior. Staff is very friendly and helpful. All looks clean and well maintained. Room perfect for short stay.
To call it “City View” maybe bit exaggerated but you can see the city out of the window. Not many parking options directly at the hotel, but parking garage the hotels recommends is very close. However, it’s expensive if you use your car during your stay. Also bit smelly and stairs seem to be kind of a meeting point/shelter for homeless persons or users. This is nothing the hotel can directly influence but still kind of impacts the stay.

The Walper is a beautiful, historic hotel that has been modernized without losing the feel and grandeur of its history and architecture. Well-appointed - from the lobby to its restaurant "TWH Social" and the Barrister Lounge the hotel is comfortable and highly appealing. Reception staff were amazing and provided me with information, directions and ensured that needs were met. Parking is easily accessible in a modern parking garage tower across the street. The hotel is centrally located. The system was down when I went to check out. There was a movie I'd rented that I wanted to pay for separately from my business card. The front desk clerk took my name and assured me that he would separate it out once the system was back up. He not only did that but actually didn't expense the movie to me in the second invoice. I thought that was a nice gesture. I'd definitely return. A very warm feeling at this hotel.
Although not an issue for me personally, I wasn't aware there were a couple steps to navigate when arriving off the elevator at your floor and entering the hallways that house the rooms. Not a challenge except if you have a trolley for your suitcase/personal belongings. Something just to keep in mind for accessibility. I was looking for change so that I might leave for housekeeping in my room but the front desk had none and directed me to the Barrister's Lounge but they also said they don't manage currency. I left without having ability to leave a tip.

The room was quiet, clean, and comfortable and served my needs well during my business trip. I was jet lagged and appreciated the peace and quiet so I could get to bed early. The WiFi was excellent.
There were no major issues during my stay and I would be happy to stay here again. A hot tub or pool would have been nice.
