I had been hoping to stay at the Gîte au p'tit bonheur for some time. It always looked great on Booking.com. But it was always booked on the dates I needed it. Finally, I had my chance last week. It was everything I needed and everything I liked. It was exactly as advertised. Nicely appointed rooms, comfortable beds, a dog friendly environment, reasonable rates, friendly hosts... All that plus an excellent breakfast of coffee, warm croissants with salted caramel and an assortment of fresh fruit, all served early as I'd requested. It really was a home away from home in beautiful and historic Coaticook. Merci, Patrick et Nathalie!

This is a bit of a complicated review....at first, I was a little taken aback..this is a house and they rent out the basement. I guess I didn't read the details. When we arrived, we hesitated but past reviews have been good. The office is set up in the living room. This is an old style B&B similar to ones I have stayed in many time in Europe. I rant about corporate travel and sterile experiences and here I was, hesitating. I didn't hesitate in Morocco or the very odd place in England where we ate breakfast with the family. They had grandchildren coming over for supper. The back yard is a playground. The place is spotless. The tree rooms downstairs have a nice sitting area. They have thought of a million details. The bed is comfortable. Wait until they as if you want breakfast downstairs in the sitting area, in their kitchen or outside on the back deck. Wait until you see the breakfast: fresh fruit, very good croissants, juice coffee and more. There is even a coffee maker downstairs all set up and ready to go, with real coffee, milk in the refrigerator. There are tons of books. The husband is bilingual but the wife may not be. She was busy in the kitchen. He waited for me to start conversations.

The three rooms downstairs share a bathroom but we were the only guests. That could be a problem but that also can improve an experience. We have had shared baths in Sweden a few years ago and at other times before.

The location was great - although it's a small town but I still liked the location. It was quite and nice area. The staff was helpful and nice. I liked the fact that the room was clean and really well organized. They also offered a bunch of entertainment like books and movies.

I did not notice that this was a shared bathroom hotel - this was on me as we had to change our plans last minute so it was a bit hard to find another hotel that fits our plan. This has nothing to do with the hotel but rather I think they had provided sufficient information on the details of the room. Just a reminder to anyone who may not be okay with shared bathroom. The other thing is that the rooms are located in basement - again, just a reminder.

The hosts were so kind and welcoming. Nice rooms and decorations. Everything was more than clean. A typical B&B place as I know it from Ireland/UK. Such a wonderful breakfast with pancakes, blueberry cake. And a large plate of fruit. Coaticook itself is a nice place as well with beautiful surroundings (parks, farms, mountain views), totally underestimated in Quebec. Unfortunately we only had one night there but we would have loved to stay longer

I stayed with my partner and my dog. Patrick and Nathalie were absolutely welcoming. They prepared a comfy blanket for the dog and provided some welcome treats for her. We used the hot top and it was absolutely relaxing and amazing. The room was big and the bed was very comfortable. Everything was super clean and the common area felt like home. We thought it can't be better, but then they gave us their homemade breakfast. We eat vegan and they provided vegan waffles and muffins and a lot of fruit. That was the cherry on the cake for sure! Thanks Patrick and Nathalie! 1000% recommended!

Patrick was waiting at the door for me with a warm smile. His wife said hello with a nice smile. The check in was 2 minutes. I was escorted downstairs stairs and shown my room. Every thing was available to me and explained properly. Breakfast was huge !!!! Yummmy !!! 5 could barely finish it. Literally a 5 minute wto central Coaticook Very quiet and serene. This is definitely my go to place. If you want to book during the summer, I suggest booking early

Patrick, the host, is a wonderful person and made us feel very welcomed. Breakfast in the morning was amazing, especially the fresh made crepes, they were delicious.

Unfortunately I was not at all impressed by Nathalie's lack of welcoming us in her home. When Patrick introduced us, she didn't even come out from the kitchen to say hello. It was somewhat upsetting, and didn't really sit well with me.

Breakfast was outstanding and nice change from meat and eggs. Croissants were warm and very tasty

We were the only quests that night so it was excellent. Would have been inconvenient if the two other rooms had been booked with one bathroom

Super clean room with shared bath in the basement with a sitting room and coffee maker. Gracious host and a hearty breakfast.

We would have liked some protein at breakfast. It was mostly carbs and fruit (really good fruit!).

The place is located in the most amazing surroundings, it is extremely beautiful just to drive around in the area. And the town itself is also lovely! The hosts are amazing people, very kind! They gave us a detailed map of the town, with all the restaurants! The breakfast is handmade, and VERY delicious, especially the croissants! I can highly recommend this place!
