The hotel is very pretty once you enter the building and see it inside. The restaurant food is good and the staff are super friendly and helpful. The room was huge and very comfortable. Located near everything.

The city itself is dirty, homeless people everywhere asking for money and the smell of urine everywhere. The hotel room windows need repairs or maybe curtains should be installed. My room had a few broken window pieces (they are wood) and you could see into the rooms. The lighting in the bathroom is a bit dim and while shaving I had to use my cellphone flashlight to check myself.

Staff very pleasant and attentive. We loved our room which had a balcony overlooking the pool in the main courtyard. There is also a jacuzzi and small pool on the roof terrace and a second pool also on the ground floor. The whole place was very clean and well maintained. The breakfast was great, a buffet offering a continental style breakfast of bread, meat, cheese, fresh fruit and pastries and also cooked to order dishes from the kitchen. We ate our evening meal in the hotel restaurant twice and the food is of a very high standard, as is the drinks selection with nice wines and cocktails. Previous reviews have mentioned that the hotel is located in a 'sketchy' neighbourhood. We've been in a lot more rougher places and didn't feel nervous or unsafe at all. I'd definitely stay at Casa Carolina again and would recommend it 100%

I'm not sure this is in the Hotel's control, but it was a bit noisy at night from noise drifting from nearby bars/clubs.

The breakfast options were much better than anticipated, and the quality and quantity of the food was beyond expectations. One really wouldn't need to eat again until late afternoon. The staff was exceptional in their service and indulgence of any request. They also provide free water, tea, and coffee all day long to guests, saving the need to purchase bottled water and contribute to yet more plastic waste. The coffee, as in much of Colombia, was excellent. The room was spacious and the air conditioning worked well, along with a dehumidifier. It was quiet at night and unlike many other travelers we encountered in Santa Marta, we were never awoken by noise. The fresh water pool is clean albeit small, so mostly for a cool soak, but there's no chlorine.

We did get a king sized bed, but it was old and the mattress did not give good support, such that one of us did not sleep well.

MY husband and I really like Hotel Boutique Casa Carolina. This is our 3rd stay. I ready like the rooms and how clean the common area is kept. The breakfast that is made to order always hot coffee, tea in the dining area. The staff is always great, always a smile ready to accommodate you for whatever you may need, from extra toiletries to an iron. I also love the smell of fresh baked cookies and the bread that they make for the restaurant. It is also close to the beach to all the attractions shopping and restaurants. Thank you again for a great stay.

What I don't like about the hotel I don't think they have much control of, and that is the area where the hotel is located. The property is beautiful, but it is located in a pretty rough area.

We liked the space, the cleanliness, the staff, and the breakfast. The suite was well appointed and spacious. Eli's Restaurant produces excellent food. Leonardo was professional and very helpful, as ware all of the staff members we encountered.

The WIFI was inoperative a couple of times but it came back on within a half hour or so. Our only other problem was outside, and the hotel had no control over it. On the corner of Calle 12 and Carretera 4, there was a lot of garbage, the smell of urine and a few rather unsavory locals. This corner was less than 100 meters away. Once we realized that, we always turned toward Carretera 3 when we left the hotel. Although nobody approached us on the corner of 12th and 4th, it was slightly unsettling. But as I said, this was beyond the control of Casa Carolina.

We stayed 2 nights at Casa Carolina and we loved it. We had a room on the main floor, was a bit afraid of the noise but it was actually super quiet. Our room was spacious and the AC was already on for us when we arrived. The staff was super friendly and helped us for everything. We also took a massage pack: IT WAS AMAZING!!! Really worth the price!!!

The only improvement I could suggest is about the sunbeds: they look slightly dirty, I think they could be changed (but seeing how some guests have no respect and lay on them with dirty shoes, no doubt why they look so…).

This beautifully arranged hotel is located in the center, but we did not have problems with noise (try to ask in advance for a room that does not look at the street). Pools are great for relaxing after the day in the heat, and they serve meals next to the pools, or you can grab a drink. Room is very comfortable, with aircon, large bed, lots of space. The location is very convenient - 10 mins on foot from bus stop for Tayrona, 10-15 mins on foot to the marina, and even less to the central squares, some small shops around. Breakfast is nice and varied, we had dinner in the restaurant once as well - affordable, but waited for food long.

Beautiful small hotel.  Rooms are a good size, clean, lovely decor. Bathroom is clean and huge and I love the plants along the wall!  Mattresses are extremely hard....like sleeping on the floor, for me it wasn't that bad as I like firm, but it was tough on my husband.  Turns out they were pillow tops but flipped upside down. Staff is friendly and speak quite good English. The pool is lovely.  The one on the main floor is lovely, good temperature.  The smaller one on the top floor is like a large hot tub and because it's on the roof and small, it heats up, so it's very warm.  The gentleman who takes care of the pool every morning does a great job as the pool is very clean. They have free filtered water available all day for guests. We filled up our water bottles as needed.  Great not having to worry about going out and buying bottled water. The wifi in the rooms is brutal. Videos take forever to load and can't get streaming services at times, even just going to websites takes a while and might not always work.  Not a big deal most of the time if you're on vacation, but could affect people if they need to work.  Ate at the restaurant for dinner one of the nights and it was quite good.  The waitress was lovely and the food was tasty and reasonably priced for a nice meal.  The guac was especially delicious!

Great service by staff, the decor was beautiful, all appliances worked perfectly. Very clean and organized! Food was fresh and at a great price, bar staff and cooks are very nice! Front staff met all our needs and were very cordial and kind.

The food/Bar service should be extended pass the current time. Also for the HOT TUB and Pool...people that visit are on vacation more than likely, we want to stay up later in a safe nice hotel... The street noise was very obnoxious and loud throughout our trip day and night! Smoking should be permitted in a safe designated outside space, the only option offered is out in a very dark scary street and there is not even ashtrays. On-site parking not available.

This hotel is amazing. It is like an oasis hidden within the city centre. The hotel is beautifully decorated and styled. Everything is beautiful to see and experience. It has four small pools on different floors, which makes the whole experience amazing. The breakfast is very tasty and diverse, full of local cuisine. I also had lunch and dinner, and they offered nice, tasty options. My room was big and spacious, with a nice bed, a balcony, and a very big and nice shower. My room also has a small fridge, which is very nice. The hotel offers complimentary coffee/tea and water the entire day, which is a very nice touch. All the staff was very nice and friendly.

I did not like three things. The first is that during the weekend, it is very noisy outside with loud music (at least in the room I was in), so you need to sleep with earplugs. The second is that the pillows are very hard, so if you like fluffy pillows, it is annoying. The third one is that you cannot smoke in the balconies, which I think is annoying as they are in the open air. But probably most people will actually consider this a positive thing. However, none of these things will stop me from staying in this beautiful hotel.
