The room was very clean and house keeping was exceptional. The beach was great and very easy access. Tons of entertainment. The food was good, they have everything you would want. The gym was nicer than expected.
We found excursions close by so we would not have to travel. See Jason on the beach and he will make it happen for you. To visit the volcanos and rainforest you have to travel a bit (3 hours total). Saving those for next time!

Beach is nice
We got food poisoning at one of the restaurants but the hotel doesn’t take responsibility for this which is concerning.

Meals were excellent. Property was wonderful.
First, there was a $600 credit for each room. Was unable to use any credit. Asked staff many times to clarify credits. Was told go to website, not able to use towards any excursion, not helpful. Should not offer these if cannot be used for much. Gimmick. Rooms need to be revamped. Was here 10 plus yrs ago. Rooms have nit been updated. Also, my long cable to charge phone was taken from room, asked housekeeping if they saw it and was told No. left in room and one day it was gone.

We were very satisfied with our stay at Rio Guanacaste. The hotel fully met our expectations, both from what we read on Booking.com and in reality. We stayed in a renovated room in a new building — it was spacious and comfortable. The food quality was consistently good across breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a wide variety to choose from. Nothing extraordinary, but everyone will find something they like. The staff works hard, they’re friendly and responsive, always trying to help and move quickly. Cleanliness is well maintained, even when the hotel is busy. We also really liked the location — the beachfront is beautiful, the pools are great, and the bar service was solid. Nothing over-the-top, but overall a great value for the price. It’s slightly expensive for Latin America, but reasonable considering Costa Rica is one of the pricier countries in the region - its OK.
The only minor issues were a slightly noisy AC system and the fact that the bathroom ventilation never turns off, but these didn’t affect our overall experience.

Location,size,pool,beach,food and entertainment.
The rooms need update. Things like: usb charging outlet, keyless entry doors, more outlets by the bed(there is only one to one side of the bed only), better Tv and better antena or cable connection.updated iron board, etc.the staff is great except for the front desk.the young girl that we spoked to was rude and kind of offensive. We upgraded our room and they were supposed to bring an adicional bed to our room ; well , that took 3 phone calls to the front desks and about 6-7 hour to get it to our room , we were tired from our trip so imaging.

I can say everything was good to excellent, food has very good varieties everyday, pools were very good end of March and beginning of April the weather was excellent, everyday activities were nice, services during the restaurants were so good. Beach very good and clean warm water
I didn’t like the road from Airport to the resort (RIU Guanacaste) hardly paved with bumps. Room supplies Shampoo and body wash not good and sometimes missing. Flushing water in our bathroom was slow and not okay. Air condition was barely okay. Elevators of the main building needs all a replacement

Nice location beach was great staff made us feel comfortable
We had dinner at The Octantal restaurant and had to did not feel comfortable with the family of raccoons begging food and getting on tables to eat leftovers. This practice will lead to the possibility of something bad happening

Food had great selections! I think that was the highlight of the trip. No cooking and everyone found food they liked. Fresh fruit and veggies were amazing! There wasn’t any limits on the all-inclusive food or drinks. Would have enjoyed some gluten-free bread or rice cakes. Enjoyed the pool games. Staff was excellent! Water park was fun. I’ll be honest, some of the reviews I read ahead made me nervous—but we had a really lovely trip!
Nighttime music was so loud inside our room too late into the night. Hot tub wasn’t hot, barely warmer than the pool. Beds in our room were not adequate for a family of four. Even if they had been two queens instead of one large and one tiny bed.

The breakfast was in the buffet area. There were many options for eggs, meat, bread (pancakes, donuts, croissants, etc.), fruit, yogurt. Everything was fresh and good. The omelet bar was phenomenal. Opens at 6:30 AM on the dot. The pool and bar are wonderful. Daily drink specials to help you mix it up.
The food outside of breakfast, is very bland. We tried all the restaurants. The Asian or steakhouse is best, but very inconsistent. Sometimes the food is over cooked, sometimes undercooked and very rarely spiced to the level you would desire and expect. Don't go for the food.

The staff are great. They went out of their way to accommodate us, for example by changing our room to a quieter zone of the hotel and in helping us organizing a small party for our daughter's birthday (thanks, Franklin!). The location of the hotel is lovely as well, and the sea is great for bodyboarding and if you are lucky you might see whales from the beach. The waterpark is a great plus for kids (and daddies who still want to feel like a kid).
The facilities are a bit outdated. Although our room was really comfy, the toilet got clogged a bit too often and there were issues with the only elevator in our part of the building. (So at least we got a decent workout every other day coming.) The food was varied but it can be quite busy at the sit-in restaurants (which means standing in line at 17:40 to secure a spot for the 18:00 sitting). And probably something mentioned by most people: the road leading to the hotel definitely needs some maintenance. Too many potholes...
