What stood out the most is the friendliness of the staff. The hotel operations manager is a GEM. The villa had a really cozy style, and was very spacious. The hotel is right on the beach, and we made the most of it. There was never more than 10 people around, for kilometers. Absolutely dreamy. The hotel pool is so warm, you could spend hours in there. Highly recommend the ceviche at the hotel restaurant, it was by far the best ceviches we had in Costa Rica! There are no nearby restaurants or bars, but honestly didn't bother given that we found really tasty and decently priced options at the hotel. We'd absolutely go back here for a few relaxed days.

The portions at the restaurant can be reaaaally big, like, too big for our French tastes. I recommend sticking to the ceviches because they were absolutely amazing and well-portioned.

1. This was truly last-minute reservation as our initial reservation elsewhere nearby fell through due to a loss of power. 2. Staff was friendly and engaging and willing to put up with my meager (but getting better) Spanish. 3. Restaurant wait staff was also friendly (actually they were simply downright pleasant and similarly engaging) and willing to put up with my meager (but now getting much better) Spanish. 4. Breakfast (complementary) and dinner were both excellent. 5. The room was lovely and, as might be advertised, literally steps from the pool AND just a few more steps from a lovely expansive beach. 6. An easy birding walk can be had right from the room (Bare-throated Tiger Heron, Common Black Hawk, Wood Stork, five species of flycatchers, several species of parrots/parakeets, etc.)

The best hotel I stayed in Costa Rica. Lovely atmosphere, great vibes, right on a stunning, endless beach. Amazing sunsets. Roberto, Renzo and Randall were brilliant. The food was great. The room was very spacious, so was the pool. Prefect place to relax and process all the adventures I had so far. Would love to come back one day. Only negative points: The bed was a little bit to soft for me and they didn't change the towels on my 4 night stay but I had a set for 2pax, so I was fine.

The hacienda beachfront feel to the property was really nice with great views of the sea. The food was tasty and plentiful and the chef was always happy to accommodate. The staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and the bed was amazing. The sound of the waves from the sea help for a great sleep. The gym was well equipped and a nice touch for us who like to workout early. The pool was refreshing and a great place to chill with a cocktail. I enjoyed my two nights at Sunset Del Mar and highly recommend it. I will be back.

Roberto who is the Operations Manager is one of the best people I have ever seen in the hospitality industry. He could be running a 5-Star resort with his level of commitment. The hotel is a great place to get away from it all and just chill. Go there with an open mind and understand that this place is being run by a small group of amazing workers. Get a car and drive to a ton of fun things to do in the area.

- The staff : Daria, Rebecca, Javier at the reception, Jan Carlos and his team at the bar, the kitchen team that works behind the scene Maria, Nataly and Isabel and the cleaning team who leaves the room super clean everyday - The location beachfront and quiet is amazing to rest away from the crowd. A very long beach so can walk for hours. The sunset is amazing

Nothing to mention

The location of this hotel could not have been better (for us!). Beautiful beach to enjoy right at your fingertips! I have personally never experienced ocean water that was that WARM!!! This hotel is full of charm, and we really enjoyed our stay, and meeting the staff members. Everything was kept spotlessly cleaned, and daily room touch up was available as well.

The staff was very helpful and nice. We needed transportation and they arranged airport transfer and also into Jaco for entertainment. It was an extremely relaxing place to. Beautiful beach.

Although there were some food dishes I liked but the food was not very good. But my husbands a chef so that might have been why I expect better meals.

Smoothies and yogurt would have been enjoyed. More choices for children would be valuable. The meals were very tasty.

Shower mats and facecloths would be an asset. Quick laundry services would be appreciated in the rainy season. Coffee maker was faulty. Some of the screens in the 4 bedroom villa need repair.

The staff were amazing. Friendly, and so attentive. The room was so clean and the food yummy. Location great as well

I would suggest that they put a little attention to their beach and out out some nice lounge chairs and umbrellas. It would make sitting and swimming other ocean more enjoyable
