The room was great, very clean. The view from the room is great too. The staff is very helpful. It's a little far from the center, but we knew that before booking, so just know you might need a car. There's parking so no problem.

The internet only works near the main house, so it doesn't work in the whole room. The kitchen is very simple, don't expect a fully furnished kitchen, and it's kind of far from the room.

The breakfast was absolutely delicious and the location could not have been better. The area is very lush and interspersed with beautiful gardens. Wildlife of bounds including at least two troops of squirrel monkeys who regularly visit in the morning. The owner was extremely accommodating and even went as far as to knock on my door to let me know of a beautiful boa constrictor that was outside, soon after sunset. On my departure day, the owner actually gave me a ride into town so as to avoid the cost of a taxi. I could not recommend La Parruja more!

My only suggestion might be that the dogs living here sometimes chase wildlife, something which I am not a fan. On the flipside, the owners do you live at this establishment so it is hard to be too critical.

Since it wasn’t our first visit to his lodge, we knew him (the owner) and the area around it already. The fact that we have been here 3 times, should speak for itself. The rooms are modest and the nature around it, is unbelievable. Breakfast with monkeys and Tucans will be unforgettable. The owner is very forthcoming, he even took the time to help us with our car troubles.

Situated in the middle of the rainforest, the Purruja Lodge offers a nice, green space to relax and watch the wildlife. The stuff was friendly and uncomplicated. We asked for breakfast at arrival and it was really nice and also cheap.

The distance from Golfito is not to be underestimated - even though there are buses (hourly) and taxis passing. A precise bus schedule is not available. The pool was under maintainment when we were there.

La Purruja Lodge is a real bargain. My room was light and spacious and the property is really beautiful, with tonnes of animals. Walter and Rosy are fantastic hosts who have been in Golfito for decades. I also found Golfito itself to be surprisingly charming. There is a bay, surrounded by jungle clad hillsides and lots of old wooden buildings from the American banana company - it feels like the setting of a novel.

The Lodge was not in Golfito itself so if you don't have a car you'll have to get a bus into town. Then again Golfito is more like a long strip along one road, so anywhere you stay requires some driving/bus - Walter kindly dropped me off in town several times.

Lots of nature around, breathtaking sounds from the surrounding forest, tasty, decent breakfast for a $5

Lock of hot water, during my four nights stay, at least. Air-conditioning would be a great improvement in the quality of sleep, specially for the visitors from the far north.

we had a really nice time in Purruja lodge! the owners are very friendly and helped us with everything. there is a kitchen to coock, a fridge to store foods and internet. we also saw tons of animals: agouti’s, toucans, monkeys…

The host Walter and Rosie were great and very accomodating. The grounds where the lodge is situated are beautiful and peaceful. The Wi-fi in the room was good and allowed me to do some work.

The room design/decor was outdated and some of the window panels were broken or missing, though the window screens helped to keep mosquitoes and other critters out.

You can reach the lodge really easily by public bus transport. Just ask the bus driver to stop at the bus stop near the lodge. It is great to see the monkeys in the trees and hear all the birds in the morning. The staff is really friendly and helpful. If you like you can walk to Golfito and get a cheap taxi ride back.

Breakfast was very good. Grounds were beautiful and well maintained. Birds were plentiful and the squirrel monkeys were common. We saw @ 40 of the monkeys up close feeding. Owner was very nice and the staff was friendly. I have stayed here before and will definitely return.

Everything was great. This place is great for birding and viewing squirrel monkeys.
