We loved this colourful hotel! Staff were so lovely and friendly, helped us book tours and transfers. It is right next to the beach and National Park Jaguar trail so close to see wildlife on the beach and in the National park. A short walk from the main street and the pool was so nice to have a cool down when it was a hot day. Rooms are spacious, have air-con, very clean. The cleaner also brought us clean towels. Breakfast and dinner were also delicious. We would recommend: Turtle tour, night tour and kayak tour. We had the best time and didn't want to leave.

Great location, breakfast ok (Costa Rica specialty or pancakes). Easy to book with the hotel tours ahead of time or on the spot. Great guides very knowledgeable (thanks Ricardo!) AC in the room. Swan bath towels on the bed :)

A blanket. Yes it is hot and stuffy in costa rica BUT there was only a very thin sheet on top of the bed (there was another very thin sheet on the mattress), instead of a blanket so with the AC working (fine for husband) it was freezing for me. So busy doing tours that we never did find time to ask at the reception.

The staff was incredibly helpful with helping me organize all sorts of activities and my transport in and out of the island. The breakfast was simple yet delicious. I really felt like the hotel cared about my needs. Bonus is a very cute cat that has elected the hotel as ita home.

It's not exactly the hotel's fault, but be ready for power outages during the rainy season. Also, it was a bit hard getting used to finding the place from the main road. It could be helpful for the hotel to hand out a map to help people navigate.

It is in front of the sea and next to the park entrance. I thought I wouldn't use the pool but it worked out to be mandatory to swim! Humidity is high in Tortuguero. Good patio for each room. The room has the essentials, like beds and a shelf however, being on the Tortuguero you would realize that they live with the minimum things. I thought it was a plus. The kitchen is clean and the food was tasty. The gallo pinto is delicious and the chef is very good at her job. They do laundry if you need.

It is not due to the hotel, but at night you walk 200 metres in the dark to reach the hotel from the main road. The dinner's choices are limited to three options. There is no hot water.

Really friendly and helpful staff who booked tours for us. The tours were great, would highly recommend the morning canoe trip. We had to cut our stay short which was very unfortunate as we would have loved to have stayed for longer. AC was great and very much needed. We also used the laundry service which was fast and fairly priced. Great gallo pinto at breakfast too.

Very sweet hotel with extraordinarily friendly staff, great star fruit juice, very clean, good air condition (recommended :)), little nice pool and beautiful beach. Extraordinarily well organized! The hotel sent perfect information about where to park and how to get to the ferry. Both at the Parking lot and the ferry Harbour at tortuguro there were hotel guides to support with payment, directions etc. It was easy to prebook tours, we liked the kayak morning tour a lot. Do bring cash.

Nice location: quiet and close to the sea, but still very close to everything ( the whole village is pretty small). Very clean inside, nice bathroom. Cheerful colours. Very attentive stuff. They took care of everything, including meeting us in La Pavone and Tortuquero, organising our tours. He pool is in the hotel itself , just next to the reception and restaurant. We stayed in a superieur quadruple room with a/c, and everything was fine there, good beds and bedsheets, nice new towels. Reading bad reviews, I think the quality of rooms depends on a room type. Just book a more expensive room with airconditioning :) The room furniture is pretty basic, but the price is also not high comparing with other hotels in Tortuquero. It is an island, everything is more expensive on an island.

The WiFi our room was weak.

The staff were amazing. Very friendly and made sure you felt at home with them. If it was raining it was relaxing to just stay on the property to read a book and chill on a couch. Food was also good. Loved it. Pura Vida!

If you have a suitcase you will have to carry it for a bit because the last part to the accommodation isn’t paved. Bring a backpack. Easier.

Located on the other side of the town centre but directly on tortugero beach. The hotel is simple and there was not a lot of people when we were so there was no dining options offered but you can be in town in 5 mins walk (it’s a bit dark in some streets but we did not feel unsafe). There is a nice pool perfect to cool down. The rooms and amenities are very basic, there is no aircon but fans ( no windows anyway it’s fly nets) but it did not bother us for sleeping. The staff is friendly.

We loved our stay at Hotel El Icaco! The direct access to the beach, hearing the sounds of the waves, and every single staff person was wonderful, friendly, and very thoughtful. We liked how quite and peaceful it was.

I don't think there was much we didn't like about our stay. Our shower only had a diving curtain, so the floor in the bathroom was a little wet at times.
