I recently celebrated my 61st birthday with a 6-night stay at the BijBlauw Hotel, and I couldn’t have chosen a better place for such a special occasion. From the moment I arrived, the experience was nothing short of magical. The location is unbeatable—right on the ocean, with gorgeous views, a calming breeze, and easy walking access to all the charm of Pietermaai and downtown Willemstad. The room was beautiful, minimalist yet warm, and incredibly comfortable. But what made it truly special was the personal touch—a surprise balloon setup waiting in my room for my birthday! That gesture meant the world to me. Thank you so much to the team—you were amazing, and your attention to detail made my birthday unforgettable. Some mornings, I enjoyed the on-site restaurant, sipping ginger tea while watching the waves roll in. The service throughout my stay was thoughtful, friendly, and always genuine. The location is absolutely perfect! Lots of restaurants in the vicinity and just a few minutes from historic downtown. The inn is charming as is the restaurant that overlooks the water and serves excellent food. I wish we had spent a bit more and arranged for a medium size room. We had the smallest room which was big enough for the bed but had very little space for our belongings. Streetside parking was always easy to find.

The staff was super friendly and helpful. Luke went out of his way to fix a light.

The hotel should provide written instructions to the guest about evening procedures. A guest was banging on the steel gate at 1.15am because they did not remember to use the room key to let themselves in. Also, the security guard was not present at that time.

Very nice and old Dutch style property. Paint was solid colors and looked like it was recently done. Great decorations and made the room very cozy. Good shower head as I like big shower heads.

Shared this with the team and they did share their apologies and have plans for repairs on some items. Bathroom is a bit weird for me since it is all open with no doors. Not sure if this is normal in Dutch culture but it was a bit difficult to adapt.

Location and vibe of hotel and restaurant. Hotel is so close to so many great restaurants.

Construction that is going on next door, but this is out of BijBlauw's control and is also happening all over the Pietermaai district, as an up and coming area.

We love the location, the staff was pretty great. The hotel has an amazing restaurant, we've ate there a couple times (the food is trully great). We had un upgrade because the room we were suposed to be in was near a construction, so that was the highlight of our stay.

The staff were very nice and accommodating. They remembered my name throughout my stay, and were very responsive if I had a question. The location was perfect, and the restaurant has stunning views and great cuisine. Would definitely stay there again.

The aesthetics and decor of the place is beautiful! The service at the hotel's restaurant is very good too!Good bed and good shower!

Unfortunately I saw some cockroaches outside the room and in the hotel lobby. I told the staff, who were kind and used insecticide, however, the cockroaches continued to appear. Despite that, inside the room was clean.

The location is absolutely stunning- All of Willemstadt is within walking distance, the waterfront is super beautiful, the restaurant amazing, and the seaside rendez-vous room we had came with the most amazing terrace.
