The cleaners, restaurant staff, valet service were all excellent, including most of reception and the bar staff. We were introduced to the hotel in May last time we were in Girne and made a point of staying there next time.

On arrival, we were put into a room exposed to road noise. I had specifically asked at time of booking that I wanted a room as far away from noisy areas and easily accessible by lift and non smoking floor. I went to reception that they have not taken any notice of what I asked even though, they did respond positively via Booking.com. The male reception said they did not get any special request and questioned my integrity. When I showed the email correspondence via Booking, he disappeared and another receptionist took over. Eventually we were put into a great room and we enjoyed the rest of our time. However I am still upset that I was questioned whether I was telling the truth. I wish that there would be no smoking in the hotel at all!

The restaurant on 4 the floor was fantastic and the Manager Azim and his staff are a credit to the hotel. Rooms were spotless and extremely comfortable.

On check in a VERY rude receptionist asked the porter to go through 1 of our bags and told me that I was FORBIDDEN to bring 2 bottles of wine and a bottle of water into the hotel. How dare she ask a porter to go through our bag. I was seething with anger. This really put our stay off to a bad start, it was only Azim in the fish restaurant that managed to change my mind of the hotel. Reception staff need training in customer care and a course of manners.

Breakfast VERY wide ranging and excellent. Only niggle was it took me a day to realise you could actually order other stuff like omelettes and fried eggs. It did not say so anywhere and there was no call order chef doing it in front of you. Massive selection so why they can't leave mustard, ketchup etc out is beyond me. Had to ask for it which is daft. Location is excellent because you are a very short walk from the harbour.

Smoking is a BIG problem in northern Cyprus. Our room smelled of smoke and it constantly came through the aircon. People are chain smoking around the pool which is unpleasant too. It's time the hotel management joined the 21st century and stopped this filthy habit.

The food was stellar! Breakfast is good, and dinner is fantastic. Both are open buffets. The selection is good. There are usually 6-8 main "dishes" for each course and many alternatives for salads and desserts. We stayed in a room with a balcony. Although the view is not great because there's a gas station in front, and it can get loud due to cars honking each other, enjoying the evening breeze on the balcony was pretty good. The room was clean and spacious. Comes with a lovely couch. The pillows were good, and the bed was comfortable. The hotel offers a free SPA, but we couldn't find any time to go there, so we have no comments on that. The staff was polite and attentive. They served us with their best smile.

The shuttle service from the airport to the hotel is expensive. We liked the ride, but the bus service called Kibhas also offers the same ride a lot cheaper. Compared to dinner, breakfast has fewer options in terms of main dishes.

Lovely room, nice and clean. The rooftop bar is great for a night cap, with lovely staff. Great location, just a short walk into the town centre, harbour etc.

The hotel provides 2 x 50ml bottles of water when you get into the room, however these are not replaced and if you want water you have to pay hotel rates for it. There is a market over the road, use this. I think for the price of a room drinking water should be included and not charged. Bathroom needs a handle for getting in/out of the bath for a shower, we did not have a stand alone shower and I found it difficult without having something to hold onto when climbing out of bath. Minimum bet of $50 for the blackjack is a bit steep.

ı believe the room reserved was a smoking room and there was an odor when we arrived. we immediately requested a room change however the hotel was fully booked and the staff offered an ozone cleaning, so we had to wait a bit until they did the cleaning. ıt was okay afterwards

the service, the stuff, the balcony. th space in the room for one person The reception guy who met nice at the begining was very nice and even got a basket of very delicous fruits and cookies. I did feel myself treated very well in this hotel

the balcony view was to the gaz station but I know that there is no other better option for the view. One person among all suff didn't speak very well english (at all) and she tried to stop us bring a bottle of water to our room. We were not notified in advance that we cannot bring EVEN water to the room. I don't feel that the water should have put us to a very weird position as a guest

We stayed on a bed + breakfast + dinner basis. Food was absolutely delicious with plenty of choice, thank you. Everybody, yes EVERYBODY, including Receptionists, Room cleaners, Dining Room staff, Porters, and the helpful young men who parked and retrieved our car for us, were so polite, friendly and helpful to us in our various needs during great stay at The Akin Colony. Many , many thanks for making it such a pleasurable experience for my wife and myself. Thank you to all.

This is no complaint but our room looked out onto an internal courtyard. Also one or two of the Dining Room staff did not understand our "Gluten-free" dietary needs so well as others but we quickly explained our needs to resolve the matter. But all the Dining Room staff were just great !

We had an excellent seven day stay. We had a waitress in breakfast named Merve she was wonderful and kind to our daughter and gave us amazing service. The food here was outstanding. The hotel is very clean and although there was some smell of smoke in hallways it was not in our room. The rooftop pool is beautiful. The service at the cafe upstairs is very slow and relaxed but we ate our breakfast and dinner mostly downstairs as it was part of our room. Front desk was always helpful. Bed was comfortable. Air conditioning worked great. The hotel even gave us a beautiful welcome tray of fruit and nuts and made our little one an omelette which they would not take money for when we arrived after 2am because our flight was delayed. It was sad the pool closed right at 7pm we would have liked it to use it a little bit in evening when it is cool. Other than that we had no complaints except that Kyrenia itself is LOUD. Traffic is insane. Noise of sirens and traffic is all day and all night ask for a room NOT facing street if you want to have it quiet. We would stay again!

Noise from street. Bad traffic at location. Very expensive laundry. Two little bags would have cost us $140 euros. Just north at the next alley and around the corner literally beside hotel is an amazing laundry lady who will do 2kg of clothes 200 Turkish lira!! Wonderful to find her next door.

Almost everything, breakfast was great, the room was very comfortable ,bathroom was new and nice, cocktails and bar staff by the pool was very good, The spa was very nice and new, would defiantly go back again

The checkout, on our booking it said, checkout between 11:30 to 12:30 the key card stopped working on one of our room at 11:50 and we had to go down to reception to get new key and they told us we should have evacuated the room by then. The valet parking, after waiting for 15 minutes for our car, they showed up with the wrong car. The smell of cigarette smoke in hallways.
