We stayed at this hotel previously and like the location for visiting the Dresden Striezelmarkt. The hotel is right on the market square and we got a room looking over the Altmarkt. It is also within easy reach of Dresden's other Christmas markets. There are plenty of shops and food places in the Altmarkt Galerie shopping mall.

Instead of providing a hand towel each, they provided one large towel for the two room occupants to share. We thought this was the weirdest practice to share towels and somewhat unhygienic too.

Location is amazing! Walked out and crossed the street to the cathedral and main plaza with lots of restaurant choices. There is a huge mall just across the plaza as well. Parking garage located under the plaza very close to the hotel. Staff was able to move us to a better room after realizing our room was not cooling! Hotel gave us a discounted parking price! Only €20 instead of €28. During Christmas market time, this is an amazing place to stay!

Our room was very warm, but thought it was because it was very warm outside. After asking the front desk for a fan that they didn't have, they did move us to a cooler room! Price of breakfast seemed a bit much - €20 pp. So we walked across the plaza to a nice konditori and had a nice pastry and coffee/tee for less than one at the hotel.

Great location, beautiful building, no issues with random noise. Overall value for the money was excellent.

I would definitely consider staying here if I return to Dresden. That being said, I think there are a few improvements that could be made. Firstly, the day I checked in was extremely hot and the hotel is air conditioned but the base AC level is not very cool and you can only adjust it by up to 3 degrees. I was very warm the first night and had to take a cold shower to properly cool down. Second of all, the mattress was quite thin and I could feel the hard platform underneath. A bit more comfort would be appreciated. Finally, I found the floors and elevators consistently confusing. There could be more labelling of what goes where and how to find places, or better directions given by staff. But these are minor complaints. Overall the hotel is quite nice and a good value for the money.

We've stayed here a number of times now because this hotel is so amazing. Aside from the fact that the location is phenomenal, there is no extra fee for bringing a dog!! They also validate your ticket for the public parking lot, so it's 20 Euros for 24 hours. This isn't cheap, per se, but it's cheaper than the alternative(s) and it's extremely easy to access, which makes the hotel extra convenient. They also give you a voucher for the (very dog friendly) cafe downstairs if you don't need housekeeping services during your stay. Since we were only here for two nights this time, this worked out great for us and we had a some lovey cakes with our beverages before leaving. Finally the rooms are enormous (although I think they are bigger when facing the main square. This time our room was large, but not as insanely large as before. But since we were not facing the main square, this made it quieter, so maybe this is preferable for some!)

Loved how the hotel looks over the christmas market. Our room was nice and big, very comfortable. 20min walk from dresden central train station. Nice breakfast. If you go for a wonder you will find other christmas markets. There is a nice bar/restaurant in the square called whilma and you can pop there for a coffee, brunch lunch or dinner or drinks. The hotel has a cafe as you enter the hotel and you can sit and have a mulled wine to end the day that's open till 9.30/10pm looking at the christmas market which was nice. They also stored our luggage on check out so we could have a little wonder before our train to berlin.

Overall good hotel with comfortable (if slightly hard) beds. The personnel was friendly overall and extremely professional. Being located on the AltMarkt, the location is outstanding with transport links, parking and many restaurant options right in front of the door. I would also add that this was my first time in Dresden and it's a really great city to visit.

We booked a 4 person / family room and were very surprised (to say the least) that the bathroom did not have a door. Like. No door. At all. What was even worse, there was a mirror in the room which was placed in such a way that it was not possible NOT to see what was going on in the bathroom from one of the beds. I honestly don't know what group of 4 people this kind of setup works for except for swinger couples or something like that ... It was honestly one of the weirdest things I've ever seen in a hotel. Breakfast was average: okay variety but lacked some basic things (bacon, anyone?) and some things were not the freshest or best quality. Coffee was downright awful. Other than that, everything was great.

The location is amazing—right in the center of the old town and directly adjacent to the Striezelmarkt (Christmas Market). The buffet breakfast had everything that our family could possibly want, including vegetarian and vegan options, and sparkling wine for a mimosa toast. The rooms are clean and the beds comfortable. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, especially the front desk manager (the man with an American English accent—sorry, I didn’t write his name down). This is the second time we’ve stayed here, and hopefully we can do it again soon!

The location is fantastic. You can walk to the Frauenkirche, Zwinger, Opera, etc, within less than 10 minutes. There are great restaurants close by, and the hotel itself has a cute little cafe selling cake and coffee. The staff was friendly, the room was very clean and in our case very spacious.

The room itself was lovely. The only thing we didn't like as much was that the bathroom was divided into two separate 'rooms' for the toilet and then the shower where you also had the sink. I prefer being able to wash my hands without needing to slide the door open and go to a different area. Also, the shower area didn't have a door at all. This layout is not unique to this hotel and, for most, might not be an issue. It's more a personal preference of ours wanting the bathroom in one.

It created a pleasant environment to relax in. Overall, my stay at Hotel Dresden Altmarkt was very enjoyable. With its prime location, attentive staff, comfortable accommodations, and stylish design, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Dresden.

While the breakfast offered was decent, expanding the variety of options could cater to different dietary preferences and make the meal more enjoyable. Including more fresh fruits, local specialties, and healthier choices would be a great addition. If the hotel could offer a small fitness area or partnership with a nearby gym, it would be a great perk for guests who like to maintain their workout routines while traveling.

The hotel is in the city center, close to the shopping center right next to the tram stop. The room is spacious and clean. The great thing is that the bathroom and toilet are separate. There is a plenty of storage space in the room. We appreciated air conditioning in the hot weather. The breakfasts were rich, with a wide selection of salami, ham and cheese. You can treat yourself with prosecco already for breakfast, The coffee was of very good quality.

In our room, the wi-fi worked very poorly and there were no tea-making equipment in the room.
