This is the second time I have stayed at Generator. It is great when you arrive after midnight by plane because it is 15 mn walk from Plaza Catalunya Aerobús bus stop. I was afraid the room will be stuffy and noisy but the opposite was true.The aircondition was perfect, neither too low/high.The bed was really comfortable, soft, wide enough with a decent blanket.Everything perfectly clean. The staff was very helpful, nice and efficient, special thanks to Mohamed and Jono.Although it is a large hostel,it has great atmosphere and is literally close to everything.

Nothing to do with the hostel itself, but I am always amazed how inconsiderate people can be - leaving lights on after they have left the room for good at 2 in the morning etc.

The pictures showed the bunk beds with the head part covered, with a small part for privacy. However, one of the bunk beds of the room didn't have it. I had to stay there and there was no space to place your stuff. It was kind of uncomfortable

Was surprised to find a mini club in the premises, friendly and helpful staff who helped me with a faulty under-the-bed locker. Excellent central location as well!

The hairdryer only switches on once, if you release the power button and attempt to switch it on again it will not work. Either bring your own hairdryer or wait 5 minutes for the hairdryer to work again.

Generator is a big and reliable franchise and that applies here as well. The place is sleek and modern, with a lot of useful spaces, including a working area, coffee/breakfast area, club section and plenty of space to sit and hang out. 24/7 reception works great, so my check-in was a breeze even though my flight was late and I arrived well after midnight. Staff is professional and pleasant. There's a ton of activities organised for guests and the buffet breakfast is pretty satisfactory. Entrance to the room is via a key card, and wi-fi, while nothing special, will get the job done just fine. The 8 bunk-bed room was adequate and my bed had its own light, a tiny shelf and a wall socket for charging the phone over night.

I found the ensuite toilet and shower (separate) to be pretty uncomfortable. They are so tiny that one could barely move, and considering there's 8 people using them, they were constantly filled to the brim with other people's stuff, so there's nowhere to leave anything of your own. Wash basins are even completely unusable as the faucets are so low you can't get your hands under them, making simple hand washing impossible. So, there are some obvious flaws in the design. However, there are some additional shared bathrooms on each floor, which helped a lot, even though you may need to change floors to get to them.

Everything was very clean and the beds where comfortable. I loved that there was an affordable luggage storage service. The facility was easy to navigate.

When we arrived, our beds were being used by someone else. We saw that a notice that was left to that other visitor, but that added some confusion to the whole process. There should be a better record of who leaves and who stays. There should be a separation between the bed's area and the shower/toilet/dressing area. When someone staying at the same dorm arrives very late at night, there is no way to don't wake up everyone else with the light and noise. That separation would at least keep some light away from sleeping visitors. The toilet and shower rooms in the dorm were way too tight... They need some more surfaces or hooks to hang on things.

This truly is one of the most unpleasant places I have ever been. One of the girls at the reception behaved extremely arrogantly; the air conditioning wasn't working and there wasn't any air. The access card kept deactivating and we had to go to the reception to fix it.

My experience at Generator Hostel Barcelona was excellent. The place is clean, the location is great, and the overall vibe is safe and comfortable. What truly stood out was the staff – especially Mohamed at the reception. He was incredibly polite, respectful, and helpful. His professionalism and positive attitude made a big difference in my stay. Big thanks to him! I highly recommend this hostel.

The only issue I experienced was with the air conditioning. It was quite weak and was turned off at times, which made the room hot. On one day, the AC stopped working completely and the room became very uncomfortable. I hope this can be improved in the future.

The location was fabulous and the people at the front desk were so helpful and good humored in letting me practice Spanish with them although their English was perfect. Giuliana P was especially helpful in accommodating my late check-out request. Everything was clean and also very quiet at night.

For the price everything was good, but our "view" was of a wall and the beds were too soft for my preference. I also wish there had been a safe in our room (in the hotel portion of the building).

I booked one room with twin beds for my friend and me, and another for my parents. Since I wasn’t able to check in online, the two girls at reception were very kind and handled it for us. We received a free upgrade from a twin room to a room with a large bed and a terrace (they asked us first if we wanted it). We stayed for 3 and 4 nights. The beds were very comfortable, and we really liked the terrace because it allowed us to eat together. If you're staying longer and need your room cleaned, you just need to inform reception. The hotel is a 15-minute walk from Sagrada Familia, and we explored the city mostly on foot. There are lockers available if you arrive early and need to store your luggage before check-in. In our case, we had a morning flight and used a large locker for 5-6 hours, which cost around 5 euros. It was spacious enough for 4-5 backpacks, which was very convenient. We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel, so I can't comment on the food, but they seemed to offer a good selection. The coffee costs 2 euros and is quite good. The hotel is very colorful, with ping-pong tables and evening events, including parties. Considering the price and location, I highly recommend it. The neighborhood is safe, and you’ll find ALDI, LIDL, and some local markets just 2 minutes away. There is a bus station right on the street, and the metro station is only a 5-minute walk away, making it easy to get around the city. I also highly recommend trying the coffee at BYKATE, a café near the hotel. Overall, we had a great stay! <3 Just a small note: we had to pay an extra tourist fee of €5.50 per day per person.
