A lovely elegant hotel situated in a lively piazza. Our Superior double room had a small balcony overlooking the piazza. The entry foyer was a lovely place to enjoy a drink and meet up with others. It was a very popular area and enjoyable at the end of a hot wander around the sights. The roof top swimming pool although fairly small was very refreshing - adjoining deck had plenty of deck chairs and towels were provided near the pool. The Merida Palace was a perfect place to stay whilst visiting the ancient 2000 year old Roman amphitheatre to attend the fabulous IL VOLO concert.

Nothing - our stay was extremely pleasant and we would love to go back to Merida - so much interesting history.

This is the second time we've stayed in this hotel. It's very central, being on the Plaza de Espana and is an easy walk to all the cultural and historic sights. The hotel itself has an imposing facade, with a small terrace at the front. The interior is impressive and imposing, with an interior patio, and the staff are very welcoming. Getting to the hotel is straightforward but parking in Merida is a nightmare so on both occasions we've opted for the valet parking which is a very slick operation. If the room isn't ready on arrival they look after your luggage and leave it in the room for when you check in. The room was a great size with a very big bed which was comfortable and had good pillows. There was complimentary water and chocolates and also a box of chocolates on the bed for my husband whose birthday it was the day we arrived. Everywhere was very clean and the aircon was very good as it was constant instead of being either freezing cold or not cold enough. Also a lovely bar/restaurant on the square right opposite the hotel (a chiringuito rather than the bars in the buildings) which served fab food!

Whilst the rest of the staff in the hotel are wonderful the restaurant staff need some training! 1st night we ordered a plate of cheese for starters, then 1 fish, 1 stew. An hour later the cheese arrived, 5 mins later the main, we were still eating the cheese it must have been sitting around in the kitchen, forgetting about? Lunch the next day was a mad rush! The opposite. Then she only charged us for 1 meal, we had to tell her to correct and charge for 2?

Absolutely the best place to stay in Merida right on the plaza. It was a really nice, pampering treat. The beautiful tiled floors in the bathroom were heated. The room was wonderful and equipped, the bed comfortable, fabulous huge breakfast spread with freshly baked bread basket. Espresso maker and many tea choices. Beautiful lobby. Nice, attentive staff. It was such a nice place to return to after traveling and walking all over town looking at the archeological sites. Balcony door opened out to a beautiful city view and a really cute stork making a nest on the church bell tower.

The superior room was excellent in every way. The breakfast was very good, though not as good as others I have had in similar hotels. The hotel, on the Plaza de Espagna, was in the ideal position for both eating out and nightlife as well as visitng th Roman sites.

The restaurant. though open in the evenings, ws not promoted, no menu was presnted outside, and there appeared to be no wine list. We ate there the first night, and the food was excellent, but hardly anyone seemed to use it for evening meals. It was as if the guests were being put off using it, Also the bar operated very strangely, with no drinks menu, no bottles on the shelves to look at, and seemingly very low stocks - they ran out of some items during our visit and did not replace them. The staff, on the other hand , were very hard-working and friendly.

Superb hotel, right in the heart of the Town. 'Everything Roman' was within walking distance [one of the best preserved Roman towns in Spain with some spectacular ruins to explore] & the hotel looks out onto a lovely square lined with bars and restaurants! Fabulous and helpful staff throughout the hotel, very willing to give advice and recommendations for restaurants etc. Thee is no car parking at the hotel, but residents can drive up to the front doors to unload and there are public parking sites within 1/10 of a mile. Room was fabulous, really well appointed and lovely fixtures and fittings. Even though we looked out onto the Square, the noise levels at night weren't a problem. Super bar area and foyer, an eclectic mix of designs throughout the building (Roman & Moorish). Would certainly stay here again

The weather on Day 1, but that's not the hotel's fault! Plus they lent us an umbrella, so we'll make that a positive. Nothing else; great hotel, fantastic location, lovely staff

The location was great. We also appreciated the room size.

Although we had chosen a double bed, they gave us twin beds. Our room was facing a wall and was right next to the elevator, you could feel everything vibrating in the bathroom. The facilities of the hotel are not worthy for a 5-star hotel, the swimming pool looked more like a larger bath tub and there was only a basic bar service on the terrace. All in all we enjoyed our stay but do not expect to have the comfort and facilities you would normally find in 5 star hotels.

Everything was perfect!!! Beautiful facilities. Kept in immaculate condition! Staff super accommodating and nice!!! From the ladies cleaning the rooms to the managers. Food in the restaurant was delicious!!! Nice and relaxing! We travel a lot around the world and stay in beautiful hotels, but Ilunion stole our heart! We will try to stay in all of the Hotels in the chain! The manager and receptionist (sorry I can't remember their names) on the day we arrived (Saturday), deserved special.mention. Just a perfect day! As the song says, sometimes you just have a perfect day. We were driving from the UK to Portugal and it was a nightmare to say the least. But our one night at this hotel made up for so much. Utterly fabulous staff who welcomed us and our beloved greyhound to their historic hotel. Great room - really great. Great bathroom. A little terrace. Such comfy beds. A wonderful open reception area where we had drinks - and our greyhound was doted on by everyone. It was such a fabulous place. Valet parking - all done for us. Just wonderful.

Look - I can't find anything to complain about.

we slept so well here. the king size bed is the most comfortable bed EVER! crisp cotton sheets, lovely bathtub and getting into the bed with clean skin on clean cotton feels like HEAVEN. I don't remember the last time I Slept for 7 hours without waking up. Breakfast was delightful, amazing coffee, fresh fruit and everything I could wish for, we could sit in the courtyard looking at the water feature and the atmosphere was lovely. pool on rooftop closed in winter, but a nice view of the plaza de españa. Helpful guy on reception. We are very satidfied. 5 stars - Highly recommend!

Would have been great to have a bigger gym, a jacuzzi and heated swimming pool would be lush. but everything else made up for that, besides walking around the town while sightseeing is sufficient exercise.
