We were really pleased to have had a last minute booking at the Rui Monica as friends had recommended the hotel. We had a wonderful check in, staff were extremely friendly and helpful and polite. We were fortunate to get an early checkin as our room was ready early. Which was a lovely surprise for us as we had an early start. The hotel was on a half board basis. Which offered an amazing selection of high quality array of fresh and home cooked meal. I’ve stayed in other hotels on this basis so I wasn’t expecting much. The food options were so good we didn’t eat out. The rooms were extremely comfortable. House keeping couldn’t do enough for you. Rooms were spotless clean. We loved the location as close to the beach.

Nothing.

Location, big comfortable rooms, comfortable beds, big selection at meal times, nice food, friendly and helpful staff, nice pool area. Entertainment at night. Drinks were around the same price as outside the hotel. Food labels, I dint eat gluten. Not a big selection of food for vegetarians.

Our room was noisy with old pipes running through the walls so was woken at 6.30am for 2 days with hundreds of flushing toilet noises. The staff very kindly moved us higher up the building and we enjoyed the rest of our stay. It’s an old building with old plumbing but staff are accommodating. I didn’t realise the demographic of the hotel until we arrived. We were much younger than everyone else there although the quiet at night was much appreciated. Dining room gets very busy at meal times which can feel a bit overwhelming ! I’m gluten free and many of the labelling on the food was inaccurate, but I was able to confirm ingredients with staff.

Excellent junior suite. Friendly staff, particularly Carmen who cleaned our room and Nico on the front desk. Right on the beach. Wines were astonishingly cheap.

Ridiculous that the main bar was not open at lunchtime for even a coffee. Only option was the small pool bar. We were offered one dinner at the speciality Spanish restaurant, which fell very short of expectations. The food was no different and there was less choice than in the main restaurant. It had no authentic Spanish atmosphere at all. Staff seemed eager to shut up shop as soon as they could.

Lovely hotel, huge varied selection of food. Drinks prices very reasonable. Indoor pool great, bit too cold for outside pool but all looks spot on. Right on the beach. A few bars nearby but a good 20- 30 mins walk to the main area (Balcona De Europe) which is well worth the walk. Only thing to note is that even though it's adult only I wasn't expecting the average age of the other guests to be about 75!! Not often at 48 in a room full of 200 people I'm the youngest! Certainly felt like making any kind of noise, pool splashing, music etc would be frowned upon! Entertainment each night a bit cheesy we had Elvis and ABBA tributes but all good fun I guess!

Have stayed here before. The staff are exceptional and the ambiance, size of the rooms and facilities. Another great reason for booking this hotel is the excellent entertainment programme.

I think that the food standards have fallen a lot over the last few years. Dinner had no red meat option except burgers on this particular evening, chicken, fish and pasta were the main choices. My chicken was dry and pretty tasteless. my friend's fish was also disappointing. It was obvious that the management was cutting costs with inferior produce. For example even since November last smoked salmon has disappeared from the selection. However, breakfast was good apart from undrinkable coffee.

Book! It’s a wonderful hotel. This is a really high quality place in Nerja and I am not surprised that people come back year after year. The staff make it get extra points from me as they are so pleasant, professional and welcoming. The rooms are so comfortable (not mega fancy but immaculate & spacious ) and the food is REALLY excellent - a very high standard for a buffet set-up. Wow again the staff run the busy dining room like a theatre. It’s v impressive.

Amazing break. The hotel has thought of anything you could want, and the staff were always available and eager to help. Food in the restaurant was a mix of different types and tastes - was brilliant to be able to pick and try a selection to discover what you liked best. The pool bar also had a selection of snacks - what we tried was really nice. Both pools were great. I enjoyed an early morning swim in the indoor pool each morning and spent time relaxing by outdoor pool in between walking on the connected beach or wondering down the centre of Nerja. Nerja is so beautiful, and the hotel's location and facilities make it a perfect place to experience it.

Just home and still buzzing from the experience - I can't think of anything I didn't like - so much so that we are already looking at going back.

For me everything was perfect. My room was spotless clean, bright, modern and spacious. I was concerned at first being on the lower ground level but I actually wouldn’t have changed it. I had a great view over the gardens to the sea which was peaceful, beautiful and quiet. The food and choice of food was amazing, I was really surprised at the different choices there were. The staff were fantastic…they were very friendly and very helpful. Location was also really good. There was also a really nice gesture from the hotel, being my birthday, I returned to my room to find a bottle of champagne!🥳

Probably the best breakfast we have had in any hotel! The coffee was HOT as was all the hot food including the hot plates. Even the toasters produced proper toast - first time!!

Truthfully can't think of anything! You did not ask any questions about "Staff" So for the record I would put them in the "Excellent " category!!

This is my third stay at the Monica, the staff are so friendly and attentive, everything is spotless and the rooms are huge with great walk in showers.

There was only one problem. Previously there were English TV channels other than the news channels, i.e. BBC1, 2 ITV, Ch4 and Ch 5. About 18 months ago the satellite went down and so all these channels came up No Signal. I live a short distance away and this problem can be solved and I don't know why the hotels are so slow to do something about it. When travelling alone some watchable TV s important.
