The facilities were clean, the staff and lobby were welcoming, and the breakfast was good! The luggage storage facility was also good. I only stayed for a night, but I was satisfied with everything. I'm glad that this offering exists - everything I needed and nothing more, for a good price. Good atmosphere too - there was a nice open mic going on in the night. There was also a convenience store right next door - handy when I was rushing out and wanted something on-the-go.

My only major complaint was that the bunk bed was creaky and rickety - I came in after everyone was asleep, and I did my best to climb to the top and make my bed without waking the person below, but the bunk bed frame just made so much noise... Even after I was in bed, I had to be very careful to not move too much to plug in my phone, drink water, etc. because the bed frame made so much noise even then. Also, I don't know if a courtesy morning bathroom schedule whiteboard or something in the shared room would be useful? :)

Samesun Hostel in downtown Banff is a great budget-friendly option for those visiting the National Park solo or with a few friends. The property has everything you would expect from a hostel, and more. I would like to mention the awesome breakfast, the laundry service available for $10, and the super friendly and helpful staff.

The beds were rather creaky, so if the person above or below you tosses around a lot, hard luck. Not all the towels they gave me smelt super fresh. What also bothered me is the lack of place to keep stuff, like shelves or drawers. The place to hang towels and clothes was also rather limited for a room beign shared by six people.

My stay at Samesun Banff, being my first ever hostel stay, exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend solo female travelers stay in the 6-female bunk dormw ith ensuite bathroom. It never felt overcrowded and it was such a great way to make new friends. The bar was always lively for socializing, the rooms were spacious and clean, the beds comfortable, and the kitchen very accessible.

I do wish there were somewhat of a better parking situation for rental cars, but the free parking on Rabbit Street was close enough, so I honestly can't complain! And if you're relying on ROAM transit, there is a stop within very short walking distance from the hostel.

Stayed in a 14 room mixed on July 2025. It splits into 2 adjacent rooms and one of the rooms has AC and the air flows between rooms. 1 bathroom with shower in it. Room and the bathroom are cleaned daily. Hang out area is clean. Kitchen has lots of utensil and big. Lovely and friendly staff. Breakfast was 7:30-10 and has coffee, tea, pancake, toasts, brownies, hard boiled eggs and oranges. The bar puts up an event each night and also has an outdoor sitting area.

Small lockers and the relatively small backpack doesn't fit. Also, there is no light in locker area and can't see the numbers on the lock, a little overhead light would've be nice.

What a great hostel! I stayed in the female dorm room for 7 nights which is pretty long. The staff are super friendly and respectful, they definitely helped me out with a few logistic issues that I had, which I really appreciated. There is a hostel restaurant / bar, you'd think you could hear the noise in the rooms but nope! It's very sound proof. The location is perfect, everything in town is walkable and the bus stop to go to the nature is nearby. The breakfast is great, especially for a hostel. There are oats, oat milk, cows milk, some fruits, muffins, pancakes and toast. It is also possible to eat the breakfast in another common room so you can heat up the oats (and add cinnamon!). If I was returning to Banff on my own, I would definitely go to this hostel again!

The only thing they could improve in, is the maintenance of some things in the rooms. I believe 3/6 lockers in my dorm couldn't lock properly and there were some lights that didn't work.

One of the best hostels I've stayed in! Staff were very friendly! Big Thank you to Linzi who gave us the best advice about what to do in Banff, local recommendations on where to eat and took us out to some cool viewpoints! Linzi really went over and above to make our stay special! Great facilities, we stayed in the 6 bed female dorm and it was so nice to have our own bathroom. Good privacy with curtains on the bunks and our own little fans. Beds were comfy and we slept well. Samesun is a short walk to the main restaurants and bars. Beaver Bar is fab! Enjoyed open mic night, reasonable prices for drinks! Good breakfast, loved the pancakes! Shout out to all the other staff including Larissa, Yvi and of course Katie! Thanks for making us feel so welcome!

This hostel was in a great location, a short walk from the centre of Banff and with a bus stop right outside when travelling further afield. The room was very big, with plenty of space to keep everyone's things and lockers to keep valuables. Bathroom was nice and everything was always very clean. Having curtains on the beds was great for some extra privacy.

The bed was very creaky and often woke me up without earplugs. As a solo traveller, it was initially difficult to get to know others as a lot of people knew each other well due to living there full-time. There were more people just visiting over the weekends, which made it easier to meet others.

Samesun is in an amazing location to enjoy Banff and the surrounding areas. The dorm room was very spacious and great with 6 females, there was plenty of space for all our belongings, etc. Breakfast was very reasonable, much better than I expected. The online pre-check in made check in very seamless. The staff were very helpful. It was great that there was such a mix of ages of guests, I was worried it was going to be all very young people, but I met a range of people from early twenties, thirties and forties which was really good!

Very minor things, a few of the lockers in the dorm didnt lock, the staff said someone would come to fix these but that didnt happen in the time I was there.

I am happy that you have the 'grab & go' boxes, it comes in handy esp if you've an early start. The room is fine and I think I'm lucky to have a bed by the window so there's an extra space to put my belongings and the room mates are great. Location is prefect, easy access to all local amenities.

Not so sure but I guess it was unlucky for me. Tummy wasn't feeling good after having breakfast but on a happy note I was always lucky I managed to get to the toilet on time! Housekeeping some days great, some days not so.
