The location was great—just a short walk to the station. The room was getting cleaned daily. Also, there was a gathering area to meet my relatives, and even the restaurant offered drinks for us to have a gathering time.

The second elevator was not in service at the moment of our stay. It made it hard to get to our room during peak times. The hotel should consider adding a gym since the pool is no longer an option.

My wife's family live in Himeji & Amaji so the Nikko was ideally situated for visiting family and the train station is within easy walk. We have dined there in the Nikko restaurants over many years but never had the pleasure of staying there. This was our first stay. Without realising, the room we initially booked was far too small for us which was definitely our fault. The reception staff were extremely helpful in finding us two alternative rooms over the 9 nights which was not easy due to the hotel being heavily booked over the new year holiday period. The reception staff went out of their way to make our stay a positive one including organising for our luggage to be forwarded to our next hotel in Kyoto using Yamato Courier Service. A coffee catchup with family in the lounge was delightful especially the delicious sweet treats! The teppanyaki restaurant is one of our favourite dining places whenever we return to Himeji. The breakfast buffet incorporating Western and Japanese offerings was excellent. As were the friendly dining room staff who recognised us each morning during our lengthy stay. My wife particularly appreciated the kind assistance offered to her as she was wearing a hand brace. Will definitely stay at the Nikko again. Thankyou for looking after us!!!

Nothing to dislike. Everyone we encountered at the Nikko made our prolonged stay over a busy time of year one of the most memorable in recent years.

Mar 30-Apr 1. Hotel is just next to train station. Exit is the other side from Himeji Castle. Room was clean and comfortable although we found the bed a bit small. (We are mid sized Asians). Reception is on second floor. Walk to the other station exit and the buses to Himeji attractions are just there. There is a tourist info centre at the train station. Lots of eateries near train station and along the walk to Himeji Castle.

It is an old fashioned hotel. Still using key to room and turning knobs in bathroom. No big issue.

We stayed at Hotel Nikko Himeji after trying to decide between Osaka and Himeji-- we settled on convenience for seeing Himeji Castle. Immediately across from the train station and a 20 min walk to the castle, this hotel was very convenient! I was also surprised at how nice it was for a smaller town. The lobby is impressive with tall multi floor ceilings and chandeliers. The room was on the smaller side but with an extremely comfortable bed. The buffet breakfast was delicious with many options and we had a view out over the whole town since it's on an upper floor.

At times I needed to use my translation app with staff but that was not a big deal. Everything else about our stay was great!

The breakfast is stupendous. Everyone should experience it at least once. There is something for everybody, East and West. The front desk kindly tried to give me a Japanese newspaper, even though I could not read it. I had a deadline to meet, so essentially, I used the room as an office. I could not have chosen a better location. For breaks, a walk around the town was just what the doctor ordered.

Nothing. Perhaps given me the Saturday edition of the Japan Times (actually it is the weekend edition!) instead of the Sunday edition of a Japanese newspaper I could not read. But what of it? I had a deadline to meet, so I had no business procrastinating with a newspaper anyway, complimentary or otherwise. Oh, and I wish there had been complimentary coffee somewhere in the morning. I would have hugged a desk clerk had that happened.

Reception made calls to look for my favourite sake unavailable outside of Himeiji and she found it! Great effort.

Breakfast buffet staff training - I arrived at 9:35 unaware that breakfast closes at 9:30 on weekdays (I arrived on Sunday) and they were moving food away. The staff just keep telling me they are closing.. I said I just wanted something to eat and grab whatever that's still there. They didn't even offer me fork or knife, when I grabbed a fork they said it's for desert! What a start to my full day of explanation!

The dinner was superb. It was the first time we had partaken of the steak buffet. The range of food offerings was stunning. Also, the food was superb, both Japanese and Western. There is something there for everyone. Also, I went to the Garden Club to swim and use the bath/sauna. The facilities were superb. I was delighted, too, that the club was not crowded at all. The staff went beyond the call of duty to make sure I enjoyed my visit. I will go back, to be sure.

Last time, we had a room with a check-out time of 12:00. This time, it was 11:00. We liked it so much, we wish we could have had an extra hour there... does this even qualify as a "negative" point? In an inverted way, it is a compliment to the hotel and its staff.

We had a great stay! The staff were friendly and welcoming, and we were pleasantly surprised to receive a free upgrade from a double room to a twin room. The location is also good, just a short walk from the station, and everything was clean. Highly recommended!

Great value cheap hotel right next to the station (if you're sick of lugging those heavy bags) and walking distance of the castle. Otherwise it's a pretty standard 'business hotel', very clean, modern and comfortable, with all sorts of amenities offered, but a small room especially for two people!

Rooms are small, but we expect that and get used to it. No communal lounge, which would be agood feature for places witlh small rooms.

The location was stupendous... right in front of the station. The entrance was decorated tastefully for the holidays, and the directions to the reception area were easy to follow. The room was modern and tidy. The view was outstanding, and the bath in the room was exceptional. Finally, the breakfast more than met our expectations. The diverse range of food offerings is bound to please any palate.

The reservation from Booking.com stated that "breakfast was included." Upon checking in, I received just one coupon for breakfast and instructions that I should take care of my child at the reception for the meal. It seemed odd as the reservation clearly stated that it was "for two people." I wrote a message to the hotel, but no one answered it. Therefore, to avoid problems, I PAID for my daughter. Perhaps I missed something, but I am fairly sure that I did not. The issue was swept neatly under the hotel carpet, and I heard nothing more about it. Be careful if you check in with a child.
