Staying here was a fantastic experience! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with a great local feel that made it easy to settle in. It was my first time staying in a hostel, and I wasn’t sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised by how comfortable and inviting it was. The location was ideal—just a short walk from the main city, yet far enough to offer a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle. The staff were absolutely lovely, which is no surprise in Japan, where hospitality is always exceptional. The facilities were spotless and rarely crowded, making for a relaxed and enjoyable stay. The common area felt like a cosy home kitchen and dining space, perfect for unwinding, and the street views added to the charm. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable, giving us plenty of room to relax. Having an extra couch was a great touch—not just for lounging but also for keeping things organised. Overall, this place is a perfect blend of comfort and convenience. Whether you’re a first-time hostel guest or a seasoned traveller, it’s a wonderful spot to stay and unwind. Highly recommended!

Our bedroom was directly across from the shared bathroom, and with the empty hallway, sound traveled straight into the room without obstruction. On the first night, I was exhausted and went to bed at 7:30 PM, but I was kept awake by the bathroom door constantly banging. They do provide earplugs, though I didn’t use them. A soft-close mechanism or padding on the door would make a big difference in reducing the noise. Additionally, a designated quiet time or a reminder for guests to keep their voices down in the evenings could help create a more restful environment.

The bar and cafe vibe was adorable and the staff was very kind. The bathrooms and bedrooms were very clean and there’s a good amount of space. It’s very social if you actually talk to people. I had a couple friends say otherwise but they didn’t realize the dorm-only lounge was on the second floor. I had plenty of good interactions in the bar area regardless. I ordered food a couple times and it was delicious, especially the braised pork and the mapo tofu. Overall highly recommend. I ended up extending a night.

the location of the property was absolutely perfect. so close to all the main attractions and the river and ample shops train stops etc nearby. the staff were so helpful and pleasant to deal with. the bar downstairs was really nice offering a good selection of drinks and coffee and a really tasty reasonable breakfast. the bathrooms and showers were spotless as were the bedrooms sheets etc. the kitchen facilities were really good and catered for everything

i thought the room was very loud at nighttime with its very close proximity to the main road and the walls were quite thin but otherwise it was perfect and we would stay again

The staff were very thoughtful & had great restaurant recommendations, they really took the time to consider whether you wanted food or food & drink, as well as the day of the week & time of day! The ‘classic ‘ brunch was delicious especially the hummus with the sourdough bread!! Of the japanese hostels we’ve stayed in, this was the most secure for storing baggage before check-in. They tagged the bags, kept them locked away & provided us with a corresponding number. The shower room is very spacious & has one shower head over bath 🛁; the shampoo, conditioner & shower gel were lavender and camomile scented. There is plenty of room under the beds to store luggage & a small locker to store some valuables (though we didn’t end up using it).

The air conditioning didn’t work & made the room hotter, we had to keep the door open & turn off the air conditioning. Thankfully, the fan worked and it was cool enough with the fan & no air conditioning for the second night.

Amazing location so easy to travel around. Nice common areas. Bathrooms were so clean and constantly checked on by staff. Lots of amenities! Really good vibe for solo travel. I met people to do things with but also was able to be alone when I wanted.

My mattress had a dip in it - obviously formed from how many people slept on it so it was not comfy. They actually swapped out a mattress from an empty bed after someone checked out in my room while I was there so I know they’re onto it but the one I was assigned was horrible. Hopefully got replaced though!

Location was good, staff was very friendly and I liked that the whole floor was for women only. Not only the bedroom but also the bathroom. The showers and the bedroom were good and the kitchen was big and offered a lot of options to cook.

It's a bit more expensive than other places I stayed at. My mattress could have been better. It's good for one night, but the second night I almost slept on wood because the mattress conformed so much to my body that it had completely sunk in. Also the bedroom is a big small compared to the number of beds.

A huge shoutout to the staff at Len. Wonderful people! Everyone was so helpful and friendly. The atmosphere, the coffee, the food, the drinks, all great. The common area upstairs on the second floor is a cozy spot to meet new people or get some work done. New Years: I'd like to add that I really appreciate how Len had a countdown and sold soba for the New Year. My friends and I didn't plan to be at Len to celebrate the New Year, but Len was doing everything right so we ended up staying. Thanks for such a great time, everyone!

Great location, comfortable bed and the staff has amazing suggestions on where to go in the city. Nice bar to work/talk to other people. Just is a great overall hostel.

My last night the person above me in my bunk threw up over himself (due to drinking too much). This has of course little to do with the quality of the hostel but still left a sour memory on an otherwise great stay, but wanted to highlight that during my stay there was a mix between solo backpackers and younger kids with the intent of drinking only.

Excellent base for our trip to Kyoto. Len is such a lovely hostel with a cool vibe which extends to its friendly staff and the bar/restaurant downstairs. It has excellent facilities including a coin washer and dryer, and basic kitchen/food supplies in the communal kitchen (e.g. free-to-use rice + rice cooker, soy sauce, cooking oil, tea etc) and the bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean and comfortable. It's also within walking distance of several public transport links for getting around the city. Would definitely stay here again.

The vibe at the hostel was so great - lovely downstairs bar/cafe area with amazing coffee, and the first floor common area for guests was cute too. It was really easy to get to the golden pavilion via the 205 bus which leaves a few hundred metres away from the hostel, and to visit the inari shrine via subway, also only a five minute walk to the station! All in all, great!! We really enjoyed our stay here, the staff were really kind, they let us leave our bags in the hostel after we’d checked out, and everything was lovely and clean. It was a little noisy as our room was facing the road but earplugs were provided so that was great! I wish every hostel was like this one!!
