Amazing breakfast, lovely spacious rooms, helpful staff. Overall really wonderful hotel, would definitely choose to stay here again when I hopefully get a chance to return to Kyoto.

We loved everything about our stay. The beds were fantastic and oh my gosh, the food. We stayed all over the world and the breakfasts, lunch and dinner is fantastic. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The bakery in the lobby added such a nice vibe to the hotel - and can we just say - the rooftop bar was the spot!!!! The music that was playing throughout the hotel at all the various spots is amazing - and I know you clearly put a lot of time into the detail - all the way to the music and the aroma in the hotel, I wanted to bottle it and bring it home (and the breakfast fruit with the best Egg Benedict I had in my life 😉).

The hotel is well appointed with so many beautiful features. I will highly recommend the property. It's 5mins walk from the Keihan Main Line, and easy to get around.

The whole vibe of the hotel was very relaxed and modern. From the moment you walked into the hotel you were warmly greeted by the hotel staff with a smile and hello! The same experience with the restaurant staff...everyone made you feel welcome and appreciated you. The decor, smells and music made it feel very high end. We had the breakfast included in our price and that was exceptional value for money. Very handy for public transport too. Would stay here again if I'm lucky enough to visit Kyoto and would definitely recommend.

This is a wonderful hotel in a perfect location in Kyoto. We loved our superior room which was huge in comparison with other we stayed at. Everything from approaching the hotel to check out went smoothly. The cafe/bakery, rooftop bar and the restaurant were all top notch. Great breads, coffee, food and drinks and friendly service. Many sights and temples are within walking distance from the hotel. We enjoyed our walks in the area both day and evening and we would definitely stay here again next time we are in Kyoto. Highly recommend.

Design of the hotel and rooms are very modern and tasteful. Bed and pillows were really comfortable. Staff is polite and helpful Rooftop bar ambiance was so nice,food and cocktails were all very tasty. Attention to detail was obvious from quality of products on the room to the little helpful booklets about instersting places in Kyoto.

I loved the design of the hotel and the overall vibe. The rooftop terrace was great to relax after a day of visiting. Of course rooms were very clean and nice to have coffee and tea in the room. The bakery in the hotel had one of the best donuts ever!!

I did not love the location. Its a bit far from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. If you are travelling with kids and need to eat you will need to take a taxi or walk 20min. Its also near a busy road which does take away from the charm of kyoto.

The hotel, the rooms and the facility were great. Everything felt very modern and chic. The quality of the food made up for the lack of variety and we understood the compromise was necessary to ensure an excellent standard.

The hotel dinner experience. Firstly, incredibly overpriced due to the meager portion sizes - honestly had to double check if half our food wasn't missing because the servings were so small. Also, when I tried phoning to order the call went unanswered. When I went down to order directly I saw firsthand the dining receptionist was just letting the phone ring unanswered while managing patrons in person, therefore it could be a staffing issue. Ultimately I'm probably nitpicking because other than that snafu everything was exceptional.

We stayed 6 nights and I cannot think of a better place to stay in Kyoto. It is NOT in the city center, so it is quiet and it IS 10min walk from Kiyomizu-dera temple complex. Actually, you can do all Higashiyama attractions by walking from the hotel. We did not use public transportation in Kyoto. Walking to the city center takes 15min from the hotel. Hotel itself is great! It offers big, clean and comfortable rooms and it also has a very pleasant lobby with bakery, so you can buy fresh bread, pastry etc. every morning. The restaurant serves great breakfasts in the morning and local IPA in the evening :-)

Nohga Kiyomizu is a very sleek hotel close to many of the historic attractions in Kyoto: Kiyomizu Dera, Sanjugangendo, Gion, and a bunch of the other temples and shrines in the hills on the east side of the city. It's also a short walk from the Keihan line which means there is easy access up and down the eastern side of Kyoto to main hubs such as Sanjo, Shijo, and also to nearby Osaka. There is a very cute bakery/cafe in the lobby, there is a fabulous rooftop with a bar and restaurant, the breakfast is incredible, and the staff is incredibly friendly. They also speak English and can help with shuttles to Kyoto station, making reservations at nearby restaurants, etc.

This is less a problem with the hotel specifically, and more that Kyoto is a victim of its own success - there are TONS of tourists and this hotel is in a VERY touristy area. If you are hoping to feel like you're doing the "local thing" by staying here and want to avoid overhearing English, French, German, or other European languages, you will be disappointed. This hotel is almost entirely filled with tourists.
