If you like 'bijoux, quirky, eclectic' this is your place! A fabulous old townhouse with enormous character, filled with an interesting collection of art, furniture, crockery etc. The room was spacious (ours even had a little balcony), excellent bathroom facilities, lovely garden for el fresco dining (delicious food!!) and situated in a quiet neighbourhood for a decent night sleep. It is conveniently near the motorway as well, with the option of a stroll along the river, a drink in a cafe and a quick stock up on wine in a local supermarche for the return to the UK! Best of all is the incredibly welcoming, friendly staff (THANK YOU Charles and Carina!!!)

Leaving....It was pretty near perfect to be honest. If there is anything that could be improved it would be the sofa bed, slightly too small for two adults .. but we loved our little 'sleepover party' with the 4 of us (mum and 3 daughters)

What a great find. Looked up a place to stay on our road trip and this came up by chance. Near the motorway, free secure parking, beautiful building, large comfy rooms, few mins walk to centre and staff that couldn’t do enough for you. Breakfast was great too and they even sell lovely local wine (a case of which we took with us). So good we booked again for our return trip and they made us a delicious room service meal. Outstanding hotel and service.

Lovely old traditional french Villa, oozing character and history with beautiful large rooms, oiled wooden floors, panelling, marble fireplaces, shutters and traditional furniture. Very comfy large beds and lovely bathrooms. Charles in an excellent host and passionate about his property and his food! Charles had kindly booked us in for dinner and accommodated me not eating meat at short notice. We have stayed here once before but this is the first time for dinner and breakfast. Both were excellent but dinner was so filling I didn't really need breakfast (we didn't stop for lunch!)! Nice to chat to fellow guests too. Close to the A26 for travelling to and from Calais. Great to have secure gated parking and a garden. We will definitely stay here again. Thank you Charles.

Arcis-Sur-Aube didn't seem to have very much open (especially on a Monday in Winter) so the meal and lovely bottle of wine at the Villa were very much appreciated.

Fabulous building with lots of history. Friendly staff, good location just off the motorway. Will use again without doubt.

Did have trouble with my Aston Martin getting into the parking area as there was not enough clearance. However with some wooden planks and help from other friendly guests we dealt with it! Think this could be remedied by a little work on the driveway just inside the gates. Clearly this is not normally an issue as there are many pictures of other sports/classic cars at the hotel.

The villa is absolutely gorgeous but the hosts are the standout feature of our stay. We had dinner and breakfast there, both were wonderful and the people are so very lovely. The evening meal was delicious and very reasonably priced. We sat around a big table with other guests which I have done and enjoyed at other large houses in Scotland but sadly my french wasn't up to the job of great conversation 😆. You feel like both family and a guest at this fabulous house. We will be staying here again.

What an amazing find , very old building that was very clean , staff friendly, and spoke as if they knew you nothing too much trouble and the owner prides himself on your stay being the best . Home grown food and your food explained when served . The detail on everything is spot on . I asked if I could have a photo of my car in front of the house, and he helped me get that picture. Top marks on our stay, and thank you all .

There is nothing here to dislike

Our fabulous host, who made us so welcome. His knowledge of the area and the time he took to share it with us. His breakfasts The room was beautiful and a great size with a huge double shower and a bath. Lovely balcony looking over the gardens. The building is stunning. There is secure parking.

That we didn't get to experience an evening meal made the owner at the property.

Beautiful, characterful villa decorated well. Excellent, friendly host explained the history of the house. Large bed, with sofa bed for the kids which was perfect. Had wifi, but we didn't' use it as only there for a night. Had 2 x 7.2Kw car chargers, which were simple to operate using the website.

Dining room lighting could be better - I'd suggest LED lights on the table would be more pleasant. The dinner was good, but not exceptional. Everything was made in house though.

Loved the villa with its eclectic mix of art and furniture. The renovation work has been done with care and passion and it shows. The location is excellent whether travelling north or south, the welcome warm and informative and the whole villa is spotlessly clean. Great breakfast as well!

Nothing to dislike.

The Villa is gorgeous and decorated inside in keeping with the period. Our room was very clean and very comfortable. There is a relaxing lounge area where we had aperitifs with other guests before sitting down to a wonderful evening meal, which was cooked to perfection. Breakfast consisted of a continental buffet and eggs and bacon cooked by Charles himself. Charles was the perfect host. Nothing was too much trouble. He and my partner enjoyed long conversations over their mutual interest in motorbikes. This was our last night in France after a 4 week trip, and it finished the holiday off perfectly. I highly recommend Villa Primerose
