Wow, what a location. Thankfully we did our research and had read other reviews that we needed to park outside the village as you'd only every get the smallest of cars to the hotel. A quick phone call when we parked up (cemetery car park is free 24hrs) and they sent a nice chap (Eric?) down to pick us up in a little Fiat 500. The walk up/down to the car which I did in the evening is hard work. The restaurant/food was amazing, really enjoyed that and a stunning view of the sea and beyond. The next morning we ventured further up into the medieval village and up the castle, really worth doing. They have a tiny pool (indoors technically) but has jets/waterfalls and a resistance pool allowing you to swim in it. The hotel itself was stunning and multi-levelled, our room was across the road, when we entered the hotel we'd need to go up two different stairs to exit the street above, it reminds you how steep the location is. Staff were amazing, made us feel very welcome, special thanks to Fiona who went the extra mile to ensure wedding anniversary was extra special. The room was stunning, ours actually had two air-con units, which we really appreciated as it was close to 40c that day. Very comfortable bed, secure (we slept with balcony doors open). Will stay again!

Nice location and beautiful landscape. Nice historical building, good restaurant wjth beautiful landscape. Good hospitality.
It was slightly difficult to access to the hotel. We had to park our car at public parking lot ,and had to call hotel shuttle service.

Wonderfull, elegant hotel in a lovely beautiful village. We had a great view from our room towards the sea. Easy parking (robotic) at the entrance to this beautiful hilly village. We called the front desk and within minutes one of the hotel staff came to pick us up to the hotel. We paid about 12 euros parking there from 15pm-11am . (Apparently you can park at the cemetery at the entrance to the village free of charge and they will pick you up from there). The restaurant is very good! Very kind and helpful staff.

Our bedroom was not in the main house but on the other side of the road directly underneath the restaurant. I think this room would be perfect for disabled guests (which we were not) as it has a hidden door, low light switches, wet room style shower and a very high toilet and grab rail. I loved the balcony and the views over the valley. The bedroom is smart and stylish, comfy bed and pillows and in the inspiration of the artist Johannson( a painting directly painted on the wall of his work ). The beautiful, charming interiors of the main house. Dining in the fabulous restaurant at night with the roof rolled back and the delicious breakfasts.
Being under the restaurant made it a bit noisy if you want an early night as staff are moving furniture and clearing which can be heard from below. Also there appears to be renovation work to the building next door which we could also hear in the mornings. Otherwise I could not fault anything.

Exceptional rooms with great views, spacious and very comfortable. The rooms, the hotel in general, and the hilltop village it sits in were all absolutely beautiful and atmospheric. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent.
My room had a strong sulfurous smell when I returned the first evening, and I was moved to another available room upon request. Breakfast (which I didn't try) and dinner are both quite expensive, in addition to the price of the room itself. The village is only accessible via very narrow streets, meaning normal-size taxis can't drive all the way to the hotel and some coordination with the hotel shuttle service is useful. The walk from the train station was almost 20 minutes, the second half of which was very steep.

I loved staying at Chateau Le Cagnard as it was so beautiful and steeped in history. The vista from our room was breathtaking as was the dining room outlook and the interesting hilltop town of Cagnes-sur-mer is a must visit! Our room was also very spacious with a great functional bathroom. We had a delicious dinner in the restaurant and breakfast the next morning was equally as good. The only thing I would say to people who are thinking to book is remember that this hotel is in an ancient building and although it is magnificent ( and has a lift ) there are a few steps to be negotiated.
Nothing!

The view was lovely - over the valley below and beyond to the Mediterranean. The location was difficult to access as expected. Not recommended for anyone with mobility issues. The room was a little quirky in design and layout but comfortable overall. The breakfast was excellent. Sitting out on the terrace for breakfast, and dinner if you have it, is well worth it if the weather cooperates. Although the indoor pool is small it does have multiple massage jets.
After pickup on arrival by car, you are basically on your own to figure out how to access the hilltop village from your parking below the village.

We had stayed here many years ago and were looking forward to returning. We were not disappointed. We were very kindly upgraded to a beautiful spacious bedroom with a small balcony. Dinner in the restaurant on the open terrace was very good. The Sisteron Lamb was delicious and also the perfumed carpaccio dessert. The reception staff were so kind and helpful with recommendations. We can’t thank enough the lovely young lady who personally drove us down to meet our taxi to the airport which was unable to reach us in time due to extreme weather which had caused a very bad traffic jam. Thank you again! If you are looking for a tranquil stay away from the crowds we would definitely recommend Chateau Le Cagnard. There are also a couple of nice friendly restaurants in the village square with a good menu choice.
Breakfast on our second morning was not as good. There seemed to be some items missing from the previous morning. The tables also were not adequately prepared for the guests which was not very inviting.

My partner and I had a lovely stay at Chateau Le Cagnard for the last 3 days. The hotel is in this medieval town on the top of a mountain and looks down over the valley so you have this amazing view through the valley. Perfect for watching the sunset with cheese & wine on the terrace. The staff at this hotel make the stay fantastic, we had a few requests and they helped us out perfectly without complaint. The room had a heap of character and was very clean.f you're looking for a hotel to stay at that is central to all tourist locations (like Nice, Antibes, Chateau Le Cagnard, Saint Paul De Vence) this hotel is great if you have a car as everything is within 20-30 mins away.
Everything was great at the hotel and would definitely recommend & stay again. The only issue we had was a light sewage smell in the bathroom each morning but you sometimes get that with multi-level hotels. Also, be mindful that the hotel has a lot of steps and you'll need to park your car down in one of the carparks and organise a collection (free) by the hotel staff as the roads are very tight and you can't drive up to the front of the hotel.

The staff were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. They even dropped me to the station each morning and I could call them to meet me off the train after work. Bed was very comfortable, room quiet and large.
The only down side was not having access to internet from my room, so my data roaming charges are significant. I was in a house in the village and the wifi did not reach. It would not have been an issue if on holiday and just a daily check in but with alot of prep to do for meetings not so good. Then again this is not the normal location for a business traveller. I would have no hesitancy coming back despite the lack of internet in the room as the hotel more than made up for that issue.
