Candie is a regular stop for us en route to Italy, and it never disappoints. The rooms are period-decorated, very comfortable and with all your favourite extras - Nespresso machine, good toiletries and plenty of hangers (not usual in many French hotels!). The main chateau has the larger rooms. Set above the city of Chambery, the views are spectacular and it is very quiet. There is a lovely swimming pool and walks through the extensive grounds is a real pleasure after a long day in the car. All the staff are friendly and very helpful.

The restaurant seems to be having some trouble with deciding exactly what it wants to serve - it has tried to do over-thought-out 'modern' dishes at high cost; this visit the menu was simpler, but still heavy-handed - I hope it will work out what it wants to be soon.

What a lovely hotel. The grounds are stunning, pool lovely and relaxing with an honesty bar. The restaurant in the evening was lovely, we ate there twice on the terrace. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff very helpful. They were knowledgable with gluten free. We booked a suite and it was enormous. We had a wonderful two nights staying at this beautiful chateau. Its also an easy short drive to the lake which is stunning.

Breakfast wasn't great for gluten free. They did provide Gluten free bread but it was placed with the normal bread so as a celiac I couldn't eat it, due to the cross contamination risk. I did say could they place gluten free breads in a different location but the next morning it was the same.

Breakfast price was outrageous (expensive) for small appetites.

Beautiful castle and grounds. Great rooms and facilities. Nice restaurant.

Quiet and relaxing few days. Staff very welcoming and helpful.Our room was very spacious and clean . Lovely touches like robes and slippers and Occitane shower products. We enjoyed relaxing by the swimming pool and the Tiki bar at the pool on site. Towels and refreshments available at the pool At e dinner on night one . Appreciated the helpful wine suggestions by the staff. You could eat breakfast in the breakfast room or outside...plenty of selection and options available.

Nothing....I loved our stay!

The location is beautiful. The building outside is amazing. The breakfast is faultless. A great selection, well presented, hot when needed and tasty. Great staff at breakfast too. Car park is convenient. The desk staff are also really nice. The bedrooms were spacious and the duplex room layout was good with our older children. Also good value for the stay. The kids also enjoyed the hotel cats room. Very sweet.

The room was a little bit tired and dated and the bed was too soft for us. The bath taps are tricky to juggle to get the right temperature for showering. A shower would be better.

Beautiful junior suite with lovely bedroom and bathroom - really comfortable bed and a deep bath. Great views from the bedroom. Only bizarre thing was the €20 ikea coffee table - not in keeping with the other furniture at all.

The restaurant was a real let down. When we arrived no one showed us to our table and we had to get our own menus. Everything was in semi darkness and there was no table lamp. My husband had to go to the desk to ask someone to take our order. There was nothing wrong with the food but it was not “ gourmand”. Just a bit disappointing. Breakfast was much better.

Completely untrained and incompetent restaurant staff. I did explain this to reception after asking for the restaurant manager who was not there. Food was good But....we were served our desert before the main course and had to wait 1 hour 10 minutes from ordering to actually recieve our main course. Reception told us that adjustments would be made to the not unsubstantial bill the next morning....but nothing was done. Could have been a good stay but we were badly let down. I repeat I did try and resolve this problem while we were there but apart from a bottle of wine given to us nothing was done.

Not cheap, but for the size of room, swimming pool (outdoor) and excellent breakfast - even hot soya milk - this is a very good option. Plenty of parking, and beautifully appointed 'chateaux' style rooms. Lady at breakfast was really nice. First time I've tipped at breakfast!

Couple of plug sockets didn't work but a minor gripe.
