We visited the beautiful cathedral city for a brief overnight following a ski trip in the Alps. We wanted somewhere with secure parking and within walking distance of the main town. There was only one review which curiously left a zero rating despite all amenities scoring highly - a dispute between managers and customers it seemed. With some apprehension we decided to give it a try and I’m so glad we did; everything about the place was beyond our expectations . The welcome was friendly and efficient; the environment stylish, super clean and modern but sympathetic to the historical character of the building. We especially liked the mid century /Scandi styling, hats off to the interior designer he/ she really got it right. The apartment was well planned, very spacious and peaceful. On departure the young man on reception allowed us to leave the car in the gated car park so that we could visit the cathedral. My only regret, I wish we had booked a longer stay.

A few minor points which did not spoil our stay but do bear in mind: The listing states there is WiFi in all areas but actually it is only in public areas. A personal dislike is sleeping on a plastic mattress protector, it was made more uncomfortable by the coarse, scratchy fitted sheet on top. We did not have breakfast or indeed any meals so cannot comment on their quality or value.

Very clean, good amount of space, very modern and comfortable. Liked the on-site laundry (one set of shared machines but were never busy when we were looking, €4 for each wash or dry), good parking availability, generous breakfast. Great towels, spacious bathroom. Bonus tip, there's a little cafe on the corner only open breakfast and lunch, simple, cheap and good, unexpectedly so. We had croque madame and the best french fries EVER. All locals. :) (Brasserie du Grand Fauberg) Also great patisseries in walking distance.

Location was very good for walking but confusing to drive to, don't use google maps! Parking card was a little worrying, it did work but always seemed like it wasn't going to! Kitchen didn't really have enough to cook with, 2 pots, no frying pan, bare minimum of utensils. No wifi but we knew that going in and had cellular data.

The breakfast was a standard continental and was well served on time at 8.30 am and plenty sufficient. The size of the room was exceptional. It was a flat/ apartment size. It was all very clean... Spotless even. The reception, halls, lift were high class standard.i.e. clean and of an high decorative order. The staff are super friendly and supportive. The residents enjoyed a chat with you. There is a convenient car park onsite that is secure. This is great as you are close to the city centre. (5 minutes walk away). Stately like looking hotel/ residence building. Very impressive.

There was no WiFi in room, only in common areas. You had to be back at the hotel by 8.00 pm or else you were locked out all night! Your credit card size room key didn't open the front gates directly. You had to press a button to get through to reception to open them which is Ok if the reception is ' manned'. The staff leave reception soon after 8.00pm. It is an old people's residence so you have to quiet after 8.00pm too. The TV in the room only shows French free channels. There is no air conditioning in the room so can get stuffy if you keep the windows closed in the warm summer to prevent mosquitos getting in. The duvet on the bed has a high tog so gets you to hot to use in the summer warm nights.

The location is fabulous literally a few minutes walk to the centre of Chartres. The facilities are very good - it is a very chic seniors facility.

We found the double bed to be a bit small for us - we've obviously gotten used to king size. Access was also a problem for us. The gates were locked and there is no way to access the property when we first arrived. I phoned the property but no one spoke English (fair enough in France) but we were stranded outside with no way to get into the property. It was eventually sorted and actually free secure parking in the centre of Chartres is a very good deal.

Difficult to get access to parking on arrival . Impossible to contact by phone using 02 number provided on booking confirmation . We could not make contact which was critical en route due to accidents & traffic. The reception closes at 8pm. The reception staff were unable to solve this & said it was because we were using a phone from abroad ….NO AN IPHONE!!! Having tried this number further when standing in reception the number still does not connect . This needs resolving it could be critical !

The Seniors residence is just that. It houses a number of senior citizen’s That being said, The facility is quite an amazing complex and a handsome property. There is a new addition on the property with very up to date apartments. Ours was very new and modern, clean, comfortable, and included a balcony. Staff was very froendly and quite helpful. a nice breakfast for a small fee. Location is quite good for walks into the main shopping and visitor area. Should not be overlooked because of the name.

This was a lovely place to stay. Spotlessly clean and super apartments. Very good value for money. We didn’t have breakfast. We’d have preferred a slightly later checkout than 10. It’s very early when you’ve already lost an hour if travelling from the UK. 10 minutes flat, safe walk to the Cathedral. Many nice places to eat. (We’d recommend Cafe Bleu, but best to book; online is easy). Free and secure parking. We had problems accessing the car park, the info provided suggested pressing the button, but which button? Non English speaking receptionist eventually helped. We also had problems when we returned at night the main gate was locked and the ‘scan card’ we had been given would not open it, even though the light showed green. Luck allowed us to attract attention. We found instructions in the apartment info as to how to use the keypad for visitors. We didn’t try it as we left next morning, but hope this may help others and saves the stress we experienced. To call reception and request the car park gate be opened it looks like you need to touch on one of the menus in the live display, icon looks like a book slightly open, touch Accueil, then click on one of the arrows and press green to call reception and the receptionist will open remotely. Also worth noting if you exit the car park via rue Gabriel Peri the gate here opens automatically. Apologies for the orientation of the pictures.

Lack of info as to how to contact reception to access the car park and similarly opening the main gate when returning at night and the scan card did not work.

On this occasion the receptionist was very helpful checking the entry / exit card. Make sure you check its working as on previous visits we’ve had trouble getting back in - as have other guests if you read the reviews . However all good on this visit !

The staff were exceptionally friendly. Perfect location and free parking. An easy walk to the historic centre and the Cathedral. Every single person, whether staff, resident or visitor greeted us warmly and we felt welcomed at all times. Not to forget how quiet the residence was, which we appreciate. The decor was tasteful and the apartment had everything we could need for a short stay. It was spotlessly clean, which we also appreciated. We won’t hesitate to return! Thank you!

Nothing-no negative points.

It opened a few months ago and the rooms are spacious, comfortable, and well equipped with a small kitchen area with a microwave and induction hobs. Big bathrooms. I did not have any meals so I cannot comment on these. Excellent location with secure parking. I understand there are some thirty residents at this stage. The building is very big and although it is a retirement home it caters well for tourists staying for three or four days who do not need necessarily the facilities of an hotel It would be useful to have some limited tourist information available; particularly a map of Chartres and environs. The cathedral is about ten minutes stroll away.
