The location on a lovely square with lots of nice restaurants and bang in the middle of the (fabulous) historic centre is absolutely great. The hotel, although hosted within a relatively old building, was renovated to a high standard quite recently. Our room was the suite, which was very quiet, spacious, and renovated recently. All members of staff were very welcoming and helpful.The hotel also had a limited number of (free) secure car parking.spaces. I noticed there was a Type 2 electric car charging point within this parking area.

For those with heavy luggage, you should know there is no lift. The breakfast was a tad overpriced in my opinion and I frequently see better breakfasts in similar-standard hotels. Also the breakfast room's deco lacked charm (why these green and red ceiling lights?).

Best western Chinon is bang in the middle of the town,overlooking the main square ,we were fortunate enough to have a room with a small balcony so a Birds Eye view. We would love to revisit as was an overnight stop en route further south,missed the Tour de France by a. day,unfortunately! Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel ,not just for its central location, but the Staff are so friendly and genuinely helpful, even had our car parked for us in the hotel secure parking garage ! Breakfast was a great choice ,of eggs bacon sausage, toast,baguette,croissants,pastries,cheese hams fresh fruit choice of yoghurts,nuts fruit ,coffee tea fruit juice ,plentiful and the cheese was locally sourced and awesome, Beds and linen of good quality and good shower products (ritual ), usual tea coffee water in room,very nice stay and comfortable ! And a delightful roof top bar to cap the night off !

Fantastic location on a charming square filled with restaurants and very close to a parking area and the lifts up to teh castle. We were given a very warm welcome by the staff and our room, though small, was perfectly clean and had everything we needed for a night.

Instructions for finding the hotel could be clearer: I had to ask at the tourist office as the hotel was half hidden behind trees and restaurant umbrellas. We weren't very impressed by breakfast: the selection of fresh fruits, yoghurts etc was poor, it took a long time to clear tables, there were no plates or glasses when we first got there and I had to ask a member of staff to fix the coffee machine. Maybe it was a timing thing, as we came after a large group, and it was about 9.00am on a Sunday morning, but we felt it could easily have been better.

A charming historic hotel located on the main square of Chinon's historic centre. While the hotel building is old, rooms and breakfast room have been tastefully modernised, but overall, the hotel retains some wonderful period charm. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and the breakfast was excellent - a huge range of high quality options were available every day. The square immediately outside the hotel features a 6 bars and restaurants were excellent food and drinks were available. Fantastic

What a fabulous hotel, situation perfect for restaurants and bars.Spent one night only, would have loved it to have been more. Our room, a standard double was spotless and big enough for one night.Staff were very, very helpful, even helping to park our car in the underground carpark at the hotel.Breakfast was really good, choices of cheese, breads, ham, yogurts, fruits and even bacon + eggs...No complaints whatsoever.Perfect little roof terrace at the hotel to finish the evening.Thank you "Hotel de France" perfect start to our holiday...

Nil not to like.

I have nothing but praise for the 2 guys that own this hotel. They are absolutely charming and perfect hosts. The room was brilliant, overlooking the square with a small balcony and very well laid out. Breakfast was superb in fact we think it was the best breakfast we have ever had in France. They even managed to get some gluten free bread for my wife

My only negative comment was regarding the hotel garage, there was no availability when we checked in. There is a public car park close by, but I had to keep checking the car and moving it during the day. Maybe some additional information on the Booking.com website regarding parking would be appropriate

Reception staff were all very welcoming and efficient including the canine meeter greeter! The hotel is in a quiet corner of the main square so very little disturbance from passers by or traffic. There seemed to be a much larger selection for breakfast than we ussually experience with several local specialities eg. the house home made yoghurt and the very Chinon tarte des vignerons plus other items. There is ample parking just through the adjacent archway which was free on Sundays and up to 09h00 on other days. From 9 you need a ticket, even for free periods.

Lovely welcome from the staff, room fresh and very clean. The location was great and overlooking the square was very atmospheric. We were not bothered by any significant noise, just background chatter of people enjoying the facilities which we found pleasant. Breakfast facilities were clean and well organised and offered a good choice. We would not hesitate to stay there again and would recommend it to others

Everything was exceptional. Staff has been extremely helpful throughout. The suite was amazing. Comfortable and clean, with a lot of luxurious touches (different bottled water, dressing gowns and slippers). They included little touches for our baby too (special baby toiletries), which I have never seen in any other hotel before. Amazing. Can only recommend.

the only thing we didn't like was the music in the breakfast room. it is intrusive and unnecessary and seemed particularly inappropriate as it was mostly rap and contemporary pop, not a good fit with the demographics of the hotel visitors. I'd prefer no music at all.
