Unique property with a lot of interesting history in a great location. Easy check-in. Our room was spacious and comfortable. We had a relaxing evening sitting outside in the garden having a drink and enjoying the countryside. David was fantastic! He had nice recommendations for sights to see.

Our bedroom and bathroom were clean, but with the age of the property and the eclectic decor, it would be hard to keep it spotless. If you have allergies, you may be bothered a bit. But considering that the property dates back to the 1600’s (I believe), the ambience and character are well worth a few sneezes! We truly enjoyed this stay.

The Manoir is being restored by the proprietor and has character by the bucketful. The proprietor himself was a lovely character and really made our stay exceptional. The room was comfortable and furnished entirely in sympathy with the building. An excellent breakfast sent us on our way happy and hoping to return.

The property isn’t very obviously signposted; we drove past it twice, but probably our fault as we were looking for a small hotel rather than a chambre d’hôte. A big flashy sign would have been out of character with the property and its location.

This was our second visit, and unlikely to be our last. Wonderful architecture completed by decor of charm and elegance, without going over the top. A welcome that included our dogs, well catered to by the sizeable grounds. David an obliging and engaging host, who provided a fine breakfast.

Nothing really – I just don't want to risk smugness setting in. Maybe David could have forced another coffee on me.

Quirkiness of the building. This is the most unusual place we have ever stayed at. When you arrive, dont be put off by first impressions because you will be pleasantly surprised when you go into your room. Owner is very friendly and tried to assist with booking a restaurant but unfortunately as it was a Monday night, most of the local eating places were closed. Bed was very comfortable. We would stay here again as it was so different!

We had a room with just a bath and would have preferred a full shower and the water wasnt that hot. No bedside tables More choice at breakfast rather than just bread, jam and cakes but I am sure if we had asked, the owner would have been accommodating

This is a must see property, but for one night only. Frederic, the host was charming and funny if not a bit eccentric. He spoke a bit of English which could be helpful if you speak no French. The property is amazing in that it’s character and charm are unique. An eclectic mix of antiques and random ‘bits and bobs’ Our room was large with a huge bed. Breakfast (as said before in other reviews) was plentiful with delicious pastries and tarts. We ate around one big table with two other couples in the kitchen/dining room. Frederic got everyone chatting and laughing even though we were all from different countries.

The bathroom needed attention, the bedding was marked with a couple of stains and out bedroom door didn’t lock, in fact it didn’t shut properly, we had to put two chairs up against it whilst we slept. Although all of this probably adds to it’s charm!

A lovely quirky old 'manoir' set in a great location with it's own grounds. Ideal for North/south travellers and those with pets. All the rooms are decorated with old furniture, antiques and paintings, charming but not four star facilities. Breakfast was lovely.

The hand written wi-fi instructions were indecipherable and we had to ask what they were. More information on where to eat in the evening would have been helpful.

The Manoir de la Chapelle was wonderful, quirky and eccentric. Frederic, the owner was very welcoming in a teasing sort of way, with a good sense of humour. We booked a Comfort Room, which was large and beautifully furnished in a shabby chic Louise XVI style. The bathroom was tiny, but provided the basics of shower and toilet - how they got the plumbing through XVth century walls is amazing. Breakfast was great, especially if you have a sweet tooth. Whilst there are no restaurants in the village, Alencon is not too far away. We enjoyed our brief visit and would definitely stay here again.

Nothing, loved the eccentricity of it all, including the peeling plasterwork of the ceiling.

We were greated by Frederic the owner who was absolutely charming and nothing was a problem. He was very kind and hospitable and made us feel immediately welcome in his home. He booked a restaurant for us locally as we had arrived quite late on a Friday night. The house was beautiful and the bedrooms were really spacious and the beds very comfortable. My whole family thought Fredieric was wonderful and we will definitely be returning to stay there again.

An authentic French country experience. Lots of antiques and quirky corners. Excellent breakfast even with some special home made tarts. Frederic was very friendly. Large grounds with good parking. Great choice of bathroom accessories. Bed included an extra blanket so it was easy to select the right cover according to the desired temperature.

Stone turret staircase was fine for us, but those with mobility issues may struggle.

Lovely host, very helpful and friendly and made us feel very welcome. Beautiful countryside and interesting building with a lot of original features.

We visited in winter and I don't think that is best time to visit as it was very wet and we were unable to enjoy the lovely location. I think this would be a great place to visit in summer rather than in winter.
