We’ve stayed here many times and love it for its location on our way to and from Austria. We believe it has a fantastic restaurant but unfortunately every time we stay it is closed due the nights we are there(I think Sundays and Mondays and possible Tuesdays closed for dinner. ). Nice staff but don’t expect a reception area in the evening if you arrive after a certain hour.

Unfortunately on this occasion, for the first time they got our rooms wrong. I had booked two extra large beds rooms as we had family also travelling with us. When we arrived(unstaffed after 4pm with entry instructions)we found that only one of the rooms was a queen size bed and the other a standard. It was too late to tell anyone so my husband and I gave our room up for our family and I didn’t sleep a wink. At breakfast I did complain and was given €35 off the bill but was a disappointment this time. All other times have been fantastic so I don’t know what went wrong in the booking system on this occasion even though I had emailed the hotel to confirm everything. But the hotel is lovely and I do recommend it.

Really beautiful hotel on the outskirts of Saverne next to woods and a very short drive (or a slightly longer walk, if you fancy a steep climb home!). The room was spacious with a large bed. Peaceful and lovely staff. Great breakfast.

The bathroom - no door and a massive window straight into the room. I don’t know who on earth thinks this is a design positive, it’s not!

The place is well located. Quiet, close to the town center of Saverne. and the room is clean. Te room is well decorated and equipped with modern lighting system. The breakfast is very unique; never seen before , in 30+ years of traveling around the world. Instead of a traditional buffet , we have a choice of menus (3 or 4) that we have to select the day before. And it is well prepared, as ordered, and all is fresh, delicious!

Our room was direct under the roof, with the shower and the sink directly in the room. Only the WC was separated. We were expecting better comfort for an hotel of this category. No problem for one person occupying the room, but when we are 2 persons in the room, it is annoying: Not everyone wants to shower just in front of his partner!

Location was excellent, not far from town (15 mins), and a short round walk to the local castle. Room was very modern and clean with open plan bathroom and private toilet. The shower was hot and roomy. Facilities included safe, fridge with drinks and a coffee/tea maker. If you require milk you do need need to request it at the reception desk. We had a view over the court yard although I requested view over garden. The on site restaurant was out standing but you do need to book it as it gets very busy in the evening. We had a delightful stay here. Breakfast was ordered on arrival and delightful when served in the morning. It consisted of 3 main choices which you could change daily if desired. Staff were excellant and helpful.

thought they might provide milk for the tea and coffee but this was no problem and delightfully provided when requested from the young lady in reception. A little upset we did not get our request for garden view but it was fully booked on our first night.

Beautiful hotel and spacious room

The hotel restaurant was closed and given that we were on bicycles and we had been riding all day . . and this hotel is on a hill outside the town center, getting back into town in the rain was not a great option. You might wish to check ahead of time to ensure that the restaurant is open before booking. Or if you have a car this is not an issue. The hotel however is vry nice and staff was superb.

Breakfast was excellent. Hotel about 1/2 hour walk from town - would be longer back as uphill. Drove to town - plenty of free parking. Hotel has good restaurant which seemed very popular. The room we booked was quite small so I would book a more expensive room if going again. 29 deg when we arrived but aircon was very efficient.

Would have preferred larger room (see above) and also prefer to walk to town. (Was told there were no taxis.)

Lovely Hotel with a very comfortable room, air conditioned. The restaurant is excellent and I recommend dinner there. We were there on a Thursday for the Bissele, small sampler plates of their menu, which gave the opportunity to try many fine dishes. The view and garden are lovely and it's a very relaxing location

La Garenne situated up on a hill just outside the centre is perfectly situated in observing the country side and town from the hotel. We were fortunate to have a top floor room which provided excellent views. The private parking an added treat. The hotel restaurant has a great menu and the wine list of Alsace wines was just perfect for us. We look forward to a future stay here

Our visit was in March and so the hotel was not fully open. Repairs were being done and the restaurant was closed. Despite this , Rime ( spelling) was terrific and looked after us very well as did Pascale at breakfast. The breakfast was excellent !

We liked very much the location that was quiet on the foot of the forest and at the same time in walking distance to town centre. We travelled with dog so good walking possibilities, hotel itself is very dog friendly. We also liked the atmosphere in hotel, the old restaurant with the huge fireplace, wooden tables etc. Food is the chapter of its own - breakfast were very good (served, you need to choose from three options day before, all of them plentiful). But the dinners! Real culinary experience. We have booked the larger room and were very satisfied with its size, we had also huge terase that unfortunately stayed unused as it was cold. Also bed was very large and comfortable, just the good balance between firm matrace and bit soft top layer. Double duvet could be problem for people who are not used to that.

Possibly the only one negative was not very good cleanliness of the room upon our arrival - particularly the storage space (sort of wooden boxes instead of wardrobe) was really full of dust, also the space under and behind it. Also as we were staying in the hotel longer (11 nights) and had lot of stuff as we did hiking, we were missing more storage and also some hanging near door - like for coats etc.
