Hotel du Scharrach is very good in many ways. The rooms are comfortable - even quirky - we had a four poster bed, decorated furniture and air conditioning. WiFi was good. Car parking is excellent. The hotel's own brewery produces fine beers which we recommend wholeheartedly! If the full restaurant is not open then the brasserie - The Stib - provides equally good food. The breakfast was also good but a little expensive for what was offered. The hotel and the village are a little off the beaten track but a good satnav found the location. We stayed twice in four weeks so our comments are relevant to both visits.

The reservation payment and the automated access to the hotel. After booking with 'free cancellation' we received a demand for payment about eight days before arrival or the booking would be cancelled. Similarly during our four weeks away from home we had to watch out for the demand for our return visit. This is OK for card payments but not if you want pay cash. On arrival there was no one on site. Several difficult phone calls and answerphones in rapid French later we reached the manager who gave us the entry code and our room number which had a key card in the door. On both visits the manager insisted he had texted us the access details but we received nothing. A little disconcerting if you arrive at a deserted venue especially after dark!

We booked the accommodation on Booking because we went to visit the Christmas Market in Strasbourg. The apartment we paid for was for 4 adults and we spent there one night. The place is not luxurious but it was more than what we needed! We were surprised and pleased because the owner, Frank, waited for us and welcomed us - he was very nice!!! The apartment had 120 m²😳: 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, lounge with a big pool table, a big kitchen, a big dining room and a big terrace! It was more than what we need it! I must tell you that the accommodation is in a small village surrounded by wines. More than this, the village is sooo nice: old, French, renovated houses!!! Even the hotel is an old renovated French house! Anyway, the place was really cosy and comfortable, you could feel the French feeling! We had dinner and the prices were more than ok! The hotel has a local restaurant (very good Frech local food) and a brewery!!! They make their own beer! The place has a spa and a small gym, as well. If you are looking for something simple and cosy, this is the place to be!

It was a nice place to stay for the night.

This was advertised as a hotel open until 6 pm. There is not an open reception every day, which we did it realise, so check in was difficult as we arrived before 6 pm it was dark and and everything was closed. They had sent a message but we did not have wifi reception so could not read it.

The staff was universally excellent. They were incredibly responsive to any questions or issues. The apartment was HUGE and the beds were very comfortable. There were lots of pragmatic little touches that we appreciated. We used the balcony every night to enjoy the evening breeze and have a drink under the stars. Do yourself a favor and visit the brasserie downstairs, as the food, craft beer, and service there was a highlight of our stay. The location was wonderful, in a beautiful little town within walking distance of wineries and an easy drive from many attractions in Alsace.

There were some minor discrepancies regarding amenities in the listing, but the staff was quick to make it right. A few items were in the process of being repaired/renovated, but all the essentials worked just fine and the quality of the property will only continue to improve.

Very close from Strasbourg, huge private parking, big apartment with kitchen, dining, etc. The owner is very friendly and kind, it was Christmas and almost all places literally closed, but he helped us to book a restaurant on the next village for dinner. Thank you!

Beautiful place very spacious, staff was very kind

Checking in, there was no one there and the door was locked with a code. Only after calling the number on google maps (because no one pick up on the number from booking) we got the code.

Nice small cottage in a quiet village

Breakfast room too small and disappointed by lack of bread choice. There should be an extra coffee machine when a group arrives.

Good value for money hotel in quiet and pretty village. The bed was very comfortable. Helpful and polite staff. Excellent restaurant for evening meal.
