Pretty hotel right next to the pedestrian town centre. Rooms are clean and smartly decorated. Friendly owners and good restaurant. Buffet breakfast has wide choice of food. Hotel car park off street. Great place to stay for the Wagner festival, with a shuttle bus to the opera house (or you can walk there in 25 minutes). Museums, bars, and restaurants just a few minutes walk away from the hotel.

Air conditioning in room would have helped because it was very hot weather! But the room windows open wide so you can get plenty of fresh air.

Excellent location, friendly staff. The restaurant was lovely and breakfast was one of the best we have had. Some things to be aware of if you are travelling to this hotel: the lift only goes to the third floor (there are four floors), so request a lower room if you have mobility difficulties. The parking can be a little bit tricky - we always found a spot (though occasionally had to park in an electric charging spot which we felt a bit bad about), but it can cause some anxiety when returning to the hotel late and not being sure about whether there will be a park. Also be aware that there is no air conditioning and the room did get very warm particularly after a few days of high heat. There was a fan provided which kept us comfortable, however. We stayed on the top floor and the celiings at the side of our room were very low, requiring us to crouch when getting into bed, and occasionally my 6’1 husband would hit his back! None of these points are big negatives, just things to be aware of if you are looking at this property. None of these points were anything we felt needed to be raised or complained about because we had a lovely time and were comfortable, but others may like to know about these things. It’s a very cute place in a fantastic location, and if you are travelling for the Festival the restaurant is open after the opera and the staff arrange a shuttle to and from the festspielhaus. So overall a wonderful place to stay and recommend!

A family-run traditional hotel with character within a short walk of downtown Bayreuth. The staff was very nice and helpful. Like many others, I was in Bayreuth for the annual Festival. The hotel arranged transportation for us to (and, if desired, from) the Festival Theater (Festspielhaus) and kept their associated restaurant open for after-opera diners. The rooms are comfortable and very clean, even if somewhat simple. But the breakfasts are ample and suitably lavish in the German style.

As I knew when I made the reservation, the hotel does not provide air-conditioning. Albeit, each room was provided with a fan. In spite of being a somewhat spoiled North American, I found that the room did not get too hot for me, even though there was a heatwave during my time in Bayreuth.

What a delightful hotel this is. It used to be an old mill and still has elements of its history. It is close to the centre of town and has its own parking lot (for a small fee). Our refurbished double room above the restaurant faced the street but was very quiet. It was spacious with enough room for two large suitcases, had a desk and small lounge. It was simply but adequately appointed with plenty of power points, storage etc and a wardrobe and hanging space. The beds were very comfortable and the heating was excellent, with the option to open a window. The staff were very friendly and check-in was easy. Breakfast was excellent, lots of choice and very fresh. But the real surprise was the restaurant. In my humble opinion, it is worthy of a Michelin star. I had the best cream of asparagus soup I have ever had. Followed by sea bream fillets perfectly cooked with a red rice accompaniment, this was a special meal. My wife had the Frankish dish of boiled beef, root vegetables with a potato dumpling. Delicious! Excellent hotel and great value

Shower is small and no elevator

A lovely hotel about a 15-minute walk from the train station. Lilly in reception was extremely helpful and friendly when I checked. Lilly was ubiquitous serving me a drink while I watched the football in the lobby and my meal in the restaurant afterwards. Farsad who served drinks and food was also very pleasant and helpful. My apologies for not knowing the name of the lady in reception the following morning. She provided me with invaluable information about taking a bus to the Eremetage. The food was also excellent—especially the lukewarm goat’s cheese with honey and a cornucopia of trimmings [one of the best starters I have ever had]. Very, very highly recommended.

Welcoming staff in all areas of hotel, wonderful, full of choices breakfast included in tariff and well organised shuttle taxis to the Festival which was the point of my stay. Well appointed single room with plenty of power points. Very close to Villa Wahnfried, Richard Wagner Strasse and main street in Bayreuth. Hotel is an easy walk from the Hbf. After several Festival stays at this hotel it has maintained it's great standard over the years.

Would have liked a second choice, like BBC World of English language channel on the television. Only had Al Jazeera.

Charming historic property, a manageable flat walk from the train station or the town centre. The included breakfast with many options can be eaten outdoors or in.

If you have dinner on the lovely terrace, beware certain options (eg pork with gravy) that may attract flies. I noticed other tables had no problem. It’s still a nice place to eat.

Great location, only minutes walk from town centre. Staff are friendly, helpful and multilingual. Very good breakfast buffet, plentiful and with a wide range of choices. Very good restaurant: one of the best in Bayreuth. Hotel arranges taxi and minibus rides before and after the opera performances and the restaurant remains open for late suppers for guests. Rooms are compact but beds are comfortable.

Rooms at the back of the building suffer from noise from road and mill stream. No tea/coffee facilities in room. Bathrooms are very compact and shower cubicles a little awkward.

The host kindly acknowledged our request to have a quiet room, and indeed it was really nice and quiet. :) The room was pleasant and comfortable. As it was a weekend, we could park on the street for free. The location is great for discovering Bayreuth on foot.

The breakfast is available in the usual hours, however, we advise to take into account the hotel's recommendation (coloured code) as when to have it to avoid the busiest times.

I really enjoyed and would definately stay again - not least for going to the Festspiel. The hotel even offered a shuttle service (though I walked there in less than 30 mins) and kept the restaurant open for opera guests to have a late dinner upon returning. Bayreuth is not big, but the hotel is also super convenient for walking around, and very short distance to the Wagner museum and the park.
