We returned with friends. Hotel used to be guest house of the Schloss, and has sweeping marble staircase with knight in armour- bring evening gown for photo! Location opposite Minster (historic 3 m "Menorah", free organ music on 2 organs some lunchtimes) and Burg with tapestries to rival Bayeaux. Walking distance to exceptional Museum (think small Louvre galleries, Rubens etc.). In house Italian restaurant, food good and convenient, service less so. Breakfast in ex ballroom.Braunschweig was obliterated in WW2, but all rebuilt. Market.

Parking outside hotel is not for exclusive use, so can be full, but later at night there are usually spaces. You just have to chance it - unloading can be done directly outside, and reception are very accommodating about this. Bar in restaurant was not available, and we felt the staff hurried us out at around 9.30 pm. This is nothing to do with the hotel, but you cannot really have a drink in the lobby though there is a sofa.

Hotel was a magnificent old property with lots of history Room was enormous with great views of the local square.

Shower was inside an older bath - it took quite a climb to get in. The bathroom was enormous with ample room for a separate shower. There were no tea/coffee making facilities - this could be a cultural thing, perhaps these are not usually provided in German hotels

Cool staff. Big room. Grand staircase with armoured knight. Excellent breakfast in ballroom. In-house restaurant with outside seating directly opposite medieval Kaiser residence and cathedral. Lively city with superb art gallery, shady park and nice patisserie shops. Ancient merchant hall (museum) with famous "Braunschweiger Elle" (standardised yard measure). Gothic churches. Cathedral has giant menorah and grave of Henry the Lion - free during Sunday service which was also great! Let your kids turn the crank for water vortex sculpture in pedestrianised street while you eat ultra fast Vietnamese food.

There is parking, but if there is a function at the hotel you may not get a space till late. The city was flattened in WW2, but you would not know it now. Hope for Ukraine...

Beautiful old hotel, carefully preserved but also made very comfortable and with modern amenities. I loved the lion statues outside. It was a privilege to walk up the wide classic divided staircase (lift available) and in the spacious halls.

Great location for the Christmas market. Right outside the door. Staff are nice, room very spacious and bathroom is comfortable. Great water pressure. Walk to many shops and restaurants.

Room outdated which is okay. Bathroom were few hair from previous guest. Bed not comfortable, aching hip after one night.

Beautiful hotel in a great location.

Breakfast was nice but they kept running out of items, when we asked for replacements, they were quickly provided so it was not a problem, however it was a bit awkward to keep asking for something to be refilled.

I was in a single room on the 2nd floor and could hear much of what was happening around me.

I stayed Hotel Deutsches Haus aline. The location was very good. Hotel's inside and building was very good. Generally it was a good experience.

At night I heart a lot of noices from kitchen or somewhere like that and the breakfast was not super good.

it is was clean and comfortable, the breakfast was really good, the location is perfect for enjoy the city center.

The person at the reception was acting weird. she was unfriendly and forced me to pay in advance at check in, while all over the world you can choose when to pay. my credit card was registered as usual. she gave me the feeling of not being welcome.

Really great location and a charming hotel

Quite dated and could do with a refurbishment. All the corridors and even the non smoking rooms smell of smoke. Breakfast is good but expensive at 19 Euro
