A very pleasant small hotel in a traditional German style in a quiet neighbourhood of Freiburg. The old town is reachable in 15 mins by bus. The staff is very kind and welcoming, the breakfast is hearty and tasty. The room is quite small but has all the necessary facilities. Last but not least, a very reasonable price. Definitely recommended.

The check-in process could be quite challenging (please read the instruction sent by hotel on the check-in day carefully and everything will go smoothly). Apart from that, the bed could be too short for taller persons.

Perfect location for my visit, lovely breakfast and the staff was so nice that they prepared my room for an early check in when I called to request. My single room was very small but very comfortable. I would stay again.

I traveled light, but note that single rooms are on an upper floor so you have to carry suitcases up stairs.

The location of the property is perfect with a pedestrian path through the woods across the street and a bus stop right in front. The staff is friendly, welcoming and able to communicate with us English speakers. The bed was comfortable and we slept well with no disruptions. Breakfast was lovely. We would stay again. .

We've stayed at Grüner Baum for 3 nights during our trip to Schwarzwald. It is located a little bit outside of city center, in a peaceful quite green zone, and with a beautiful view to hills/forest (at least from our window :) ). The room we had was big enough for 2 adults and a dog; the bed was very big and comfortable. NB: no fridge in the room, but it's OK. There is no AC (as in all places of Black Forest zone we've stayed in), but there's a fan, so you wouldn't die from the heat :) Anyway, the nights are pretty fresh there, as it's windy and the temperature gets around 18-20, so you won't need the AC. The breakfast is good, you have some varieties of cold cuts, cheese, fruits and veggies, juice, bread... and the most important thing - you got a really good coffee / cappuccino!!! The staff is super friendly and helpful!

Such a lovely place, room was so nice and comfortable, really enjoyed our stay.

Unfortunately there was no staff on site to explain anything nor was there any information in the room so we missed our breakfast and had to go out. Only when we came back there was another guest who asked why we never ate, we said because we had no idea where to go or times. A man said there's a note on this door which was so tiny and in German?, which we don't speak!.

Breakfast staff were really good and the room was clean

Unfortunately the WiFi didn’t work well at all. I couldn’t get it in the room or breakfast area. Tea and coffee is located in the corridor on level one so not the easiest when you are on level 2. Parking is only on the street with a few spots.

We were in transit and we enjoyed stay in this place. It offered convenient location, nice area with free parking. We got good breakfast - all what was needed to rest before continuing holiday trip.

Lack of air-conditioning

Location was good, a very good restaurant , very good staff, nice breakfast.

Nothing we didn't like. But like a lot of hotels in Europe, they don't have disabled specific rooms, which has a leg amputee I now take my own shiwer stool.

Clean room, clean bathroom, good breakfast, considering the price and quality its 10:10.

Only bad thing its the location, no transport goes there so you need to go by foot 1km.

Although located in the suburbs of Freiburg , the integrated transport system (tram, bus, rail on 1 ticket) makes it easy to get around both the town and the lower reaches of the Black Forest ( a zone 3 day travel ticket is €9 per person). The property has a good restaurant with friendly staff.
