Room very clean Nicely decorated Modern and spacious Good bathroom and shower Tram stop into the city right outside

No one on site to talk to, e.g. receptionist No lift, lots of stairs to lift the luggage up. We knew about this in advance and didn't mind, but mat be a problem for disabled/elderly guests. Not the hotels fault but worth noting - no taxis or uber drivers would accept a job to take us from the hotel into the city, despite it being only around a 10 minute journey. We managed to get a taxi back from the city one night, but it was difficultl, because the taxi driver had no clue where the hotel was or how to get there, despite us giving him a full written address and showing him on Google maps. No one seemed to know where this place was!

Breakfast very good and served by a lady who was very polite and helpful. The Family Suite has 2 good double bedrooms and a spacious lounge as well as its own en-suite. There is some limited off-street parking available which worked well for our three motorcycles. Hotel is within very easy walking distance of 2 tram stops for quick access into Freiburg. Make sure you buy a ticket on the tram. There is also easy access to the Schauinslandbahn cable car. The tram ticket to Gunterstal is also valid for the No. 21 bus that takes to you to the lower cable car station.

We asked for three separate beds but when we arrived the two doubles had been made up as 4 'singles', i.e. 2 single mattresses, sheets, duvet & pillows in one double frame. We solved this by carrying one of the made-up 'singles' into the lounge and placing it on the sofa bed. We were unsure how to access the hotel when we arrived as the restaurant was closed. We assumed the adjacent door was an entrance but it too was locked. We tried the intercom and a lady answered who gave us the information for gaining entry. Not relevant to the hotel - but motorcyclists beware that motorcycles are banned on the road up to the cable car at the weekends.

Breakfast was great! Nice setting and an extensive choice good food served at our table. The staf was really friendly. The room is very big. It's like an entire apartment.

We arrived on a Thursday, the day their restaurant is always closed for evening dinner and the key of the hotel had to be collected from a box. I was informed of this 2 days before arrival. Since we have young kids and were travelling through, we had been planning on possibly eating in the hotel so it would have been great to have had this information at the time I booked the room.

Great location and friendly staff. Parking was excellent but very limited. Room was nice but bed lacked some support. Tram to downtown was right in front of the hotel. Breakfast was plentiful.

Trash pickup at 630am was not pleasant but not the hotels fault. Breakfast was a bit too much. We were sat at a table with breads and butter. We only needed one piece and not sure what happened to the rest of the food? Then meats and cheeses arrived without asking. Then 2 eggs 🥚. Neither of us eat that much food. There were 3 other tables like this. I hate to think this food all went to waste. A buffet bar or made to order may have been better?

The reason I booked this hotel was because it had been so highly recommended for its food - which didn't disappoint. Both dinner and breakfast were superb. Although it's a bit outside the city centre, it's easy and fun to hop on the tram to get to the city. We felt the tram enhanced the experience.

Our room was ok, but our kids complained that the traffic was a little noisy.

We absolutely loved our stay. The place was perfect for us and our two dogs. The proximity to the tram was awesome and Günterstal is such a romantic valley. The staff was extremely nice and accommodating. The restaurant is also fantastic!

It was a little difficult to find parking but not impossible.

Hotel staff super friendly. Breakfast was great and dinner in the restaurant was delicious. We were given a huge family room including two bedrooms and a sitting room. We were very comfortable and throughouly enjoyed our stay. Beautiful hotel just outside of Freiburg. Very convenient if you would like to explore the Alsace region and the Black Forest

Curtains let the daylight in which woke us up very early.

Traditional small German hotel with exceptional staff and a fantastic included breakfast. The room was clean and functional. Lovely lady serving a generous breakfast. A friendly waiter carried our suitcase. A good spot on the edge of Freiburg with parking, yet walkable to the city and the forest.

Nothing of note.

The ladies that served us at breakfast were very nice and tried really hard to make us feel good. The location was nice, the tram passes right under the hotel. The bathroom was nice.

We ended up booking this hotel based on a review about how exquisite the breakfast was, when it really was nothing that a person alone can’t prepare, there were no pancakes, no waffles and only boiled egg. The coffee/cappuccino was ok. The room was old and we could hear everything from the stairs and the street.

Everything! The staff was amazing and so accommodating. It was nice being able to eat at the restaurant (delicious!) and walk upstairs to bed. The breakfast attendant was very friendly, competent and went out of her way to make sure everyone was happy.
