The location to the markets and the cathedral was perfect. Beautiful view of the cathedral from our hotel window. Room was large and spacious. Christmas gift bag with treats left at the door was a nice touch.

Had to roll our luggage through an alley to another building up and some stairs before reaching the elevator. The floors creaked in the room. Not a big deal, just annoying. The deep tub was hard to get in and out of and not slip resistant. Would have preferred a walk in shower but in all fairness didn’t specifically request one. I’ve since learned most hotels in Europe have the same deep tubs.

Thankyou for a wonderful stay with Oberkirch. The team was very attentive with all aspects. We arrived by car into the town center pedestrian area and without any warning from us, the garage doors opened and we were welcomed in. Great staff. Beautiful rooms next to the Minster at the center of Freiburg. A good night's sleep and then a sumptuous breakfast in the beautiful traditional dining rooms overlooking the (very rainy last morning) central square of Freiburg on which nearly every day a wonderful food market is situated with at least 30 stands selling great local produce. The location of the hotel is excellent for exploring the old town of Freiburg. The building is charming and full of character although well modernised. Our room was very spacious, beautifully furnished and very comfortable. The bathroom was very good with a large washbasin, lit mirror etc.

We would have preferred a separate shower rather than having to climb in and out of the bath and mess around with the multi folding screen. Having to walk around the corner for breakfast would be unpleasant in bad weather. The breakfast was very good with a wide range of food available but it was difficult to communicate with the staff about what cooked eggs were on offer. We felt it was overall a little too expensive for a room overlooking an internal courtyard and other buildings and having to go to the other building for breakfast.

Nice place and good breakfast. My room was tiny, though, it was the only one they had left. I would like to repeat the experience in a wider room. Looks like they have some with views to the Münsterplatz, which has to be great. Staff was very kind and pleasant - and multilingual! A special treat in Germany. Situation cannot be better, right at Münsterplatz.

Only downside in my case was the size of the room, but I was unlucky about as they were fully booked. I tried to get an upgrade to no avail.

Right in center of town which was really wonderful! Really friendly staff who seemed to really care about customer wellbeing. Building is really pretty too, and right next to cathedral!

Center of town meant it was quite noisy and wasn't entirely prepared. They provide earplugs though, which were good. And although it wasn't an issue as public car park close by (a street away, costing €30 a night), there is no parking at hotel which was not clear when booking.

A lovely hotel in a superb location next door to the Historisches Kaufhaus and facing Freiburg Minster. I had a superb evening meal in the hotel restaurant on my second night. Special thanks to Mr Sczesny, in reception, for informing me that breakfast was included in the booking-otherwise I would have missed out on two wonderful breakfasts, excellent sparkling wine included! Very highly recommended

The hotel takes you back in time. The building is old but that makes it good! The rooms are supercozy. If you love spirit in a hotel, this is a great find. The location is perfect. The staff is super friendly, helpful and kind. The rustic but chic style is inviting. We will come back again for sure!

The breakfast needs an upgrade. Better not purchase breakfast but eat outside somewhere nice in the town. Freiburg is such a lovely town.

Location is superb right near the beautiful Cathedral. Interior of the hotel and its rooms is in the very cozy classical style. The breakfast is very good, plus champagne. The stuff is very friendly. We felt ouselves like at home.

We heard the noise at nights through the window, probably because of contsruction work in the street. But that didn't bother us too much, because on the whole our stay in Freiburg was of a high quality.

Very spacious room with a wonderful view of the Münsterplatz. Great central location, making it very convenient to access the city and (with good public transport) the lovely surroundings and the Schwarzwald.

Overpriced considering the bathroom was very small and extremely dated (& didn’t feature in the photos for this category). €25 for breakfast is steep, especially when they serve until 10.30, yet by 10.00 the buffet is almost empty.

We had a great room - they upgraded us when they realized I had expected they have their own parking. They do but it is limited number of spaces and at a charge. The Schlossberggarage is a very manageable walk if you exit the parking from the back at level 0 and just keep heading straight in. They allow you to drive in to drop luggage, but it is stressful to drive through the crowded pedestrian area. But back to the upgraded room - worth the price! I would go for that if I get a chance to go back. We overlooked the Cathedral courtyard. Breakfast was wonderful and had great staff. I liked that the pastries (cinnamon rolls, chocolate rolls, etc.) were delicious and not large - quality over quantity.

That I only had one night there!
