Facilities were well kept up, shared spaces were kept clean. It was nice to have kitchen space and dishes available. Wi-Fi was excellent. Being two blocks from the train station and grocery store was great.

Lots of stairs, no elevator - our room was on the 4th floor. Not a problem day to day, but challenging with luggage. The beds were decent but a little soft after a few days. The bathroom was very small, but we made it work. The room was too warm! It was fall, and with 55-60 degree weather, and the window open 24/7 it still was too warm in the room for good sleep. The provided floor standing fan was very helpful. On-site laundry room was a plus, though challenging with only one of three washers/dryer sets functioning.

Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The location is great, close to the train station and supermarket, and only a short walk away from the old town. The communal kitchen was well equipped.

The communal kitchen seems to be shared with the adjoining student accommodation. We found the kitchen a bit difficult to use because they treated it like it was their own kitchen without regard for others (leaving dirty dishes everywhere, noisy drinking games, standing in middle of kitchen blocking other people from accessing facilities, not moving when asked). This isn’t the hotel’s fault, but I think they should make a greater effort to enforce housekeeping rules in the kitchen.

Enough space in the room. Nice double bed. Bathroom basic but adequate and clean. Location is very good, with the tram 5 mins walk away, and it is just 1 stop (or 7-8 mins walk) to the main railway station. Getting around Freiburg is easy from here. If you purchase the digital Deutschland Ticket, you get a whole month's travel currently for Eur 58 on all regional trains, buses, trams and U-Bahn. All rooms are on the 2nd or 3rd floor, and the shared kitchen is on the 2nd floor. (No lift, so ensure you can carry your luggage up the stairs)! The kitchen is kept clean and tidy and fairly well equiped, so a great advantage for solo travellers and others who prefer to self-cater, or have the option for that.

The corridor leading to the rooms looks like a prison, but the rooms made up for it! I didn't actually interact with any staff, as reception doesn't seem to be open that often. I arrived at about 5pm Saturday, and had to go onto my emails on my phone to get the code for the key box. No problem, but some people might struggle. I checked out at 8am Thursday, and reception opens a bit later, so you can just put the key in the blue box on the wall at reception.

Great place to stay in Freiburg. The hostel is located on the opposite side of the station and the old city. However, it is easily walkable (15 minutes). There is a tram station nearby, 3 stops from the old city/ town centre. Basic but big rooms with private bathroom. A lot of families were staying with young children. We enjoyed bunk beds. A kitchen with all facilities can be accessed 24/7. Very handy. Staff were helpful. A decent-sized grocery chain store nearby, 3 minutes walk. Felt safe. Good communication.

Nothings. Rooms are on the second and third floors. There is no lift. But these are mentioned and communicated before booking. We had no issues. Parking is available for a fee, 8 euros per day. We did not use it.

We were pleasantly surprised at the good quality of the mattresses and the soundproofing; the coffee machine in the kitchen also proved to be a lifesaver. Lighting was soft and not headache-inducing. The decoration on the wall was charming. The staff were polite, and very tolerant of the slight mess we made of the bin (we had bought too many snacks to cram into our carry-on luggage). The location was excellent - exceptionally convenient for the town, the city centre, and also the nice Bäckereien of Haslach. Together with the value for money, this was the main selling point for us, so it was great that the hostel itself was also so lovely. Definitely our go-to base for future visits!

Very convenient location as it is right next to the train station, from which you can explore other towns in the black forest. It's also at a walking distance to the city center, and where the main attractions are.

Just be mindful that the reception has limited hours, especially weekends, which means we had to rely on train station lockers to leave our luggage for the day after we checked out. It's not a huge problem, but it's better to know in advance.

I stayed for 13 days in the apartment. I had a lovely stay. The area is central which is a plus point. Overall a perfect place.

My apartment wasn't cleant throughout my 13 days stay. Fortunately, I hardly was in the room so it was okay. The area gets a bit lonely in the evenings & night to return back. Only drawback is that there is no lift facility if one has a heavy suitcases to carry up 3 floors.

The apartment was spacious and a good distance from the old town. It was also quite close to the train station and there is a playground in the area which is a big plus for families. The kitchen was stocked well enough with pots, pans and dishes.

The walls are quite thin so if other guests are noisy at night particularly in the hallway, you can hear everything. Also no basics like pepper, salt, oil for cooking.

The place was much nicer than we thought it would be. It was very comforable, spacious, and clean, and the common space was really homey. The location was great, quiet, but not too far from the city center. All around great!

There was nothing we didn't like. If you haev trouble with stairs our room might not be for you since the stairs were very steep.

Nice location, near the railwaystation, not far from oldtown. Good bathroom, table and beds. We came after the receptions opening hours but got really good instructions and it was easy to come. Fridge in the room!

Very hot during the night even if it was not very hot outside. We must keep the windows open during the night and then it was loudy - during the evening and before the midnight because of people and really early in the morning because of birds. Would be nice to have a microwave in the shared kitchen.
