This is the second year in a row that we've stayed here. It's a comfortable, charming place, easy to get to by car and free parking on site, efficient, helpful staff, and a generous and delicious breakfast. It has a full restaurant on site, a real plus. We understand it's an easy tram ride to the center. Our room - bed, bath, closet space, windows - was very comfortable. We would have liked to have had a small fridge and a hot pot in the room and more electrical outlets. Also, the room is not air-conditioned, but both our stays were during mild weather, so we cannot say whether the room is comfortable on very warm days. However, we like this place, will stay again, and feel it is a great value.

Cosy guesthouse around a 25 min walk from the centre. Sink in room. We booked a room with a shared bathroom, which was easy to access. The shower and wifi worked well. There is a tv in the room.Breakfast was included and was very nice. Included cereal, cold meats and cheese, yoghurt, fruit, juices and hot drinks. We could store our small bags before check in.The price was very good for the Christmas market period.

The distance of the guesthouse from the centre of Freiburg could be an issue for some, but there is a tram right to the accommodation.

Parked in front of hotel. Very easy access to the town centre by tram or a 20 minute walk. Good check in, and all staff were friendly and helpful. We had a double room with private bathroom on the top floor. It was very warm for both nights and as no air con we had to keep the fan on all night. We had dinner outside the first night and inside the second as it had rained. Both meals were very good. We were given the English menu, which seemed to be smaller that the German one. In fact, after we ordered we saw people eating pizza which wasn't on our menu. Might be worth just checking there are no pages missing. Good choice of food for breakfast.

No air con, no lift, no tea/coffee making facilities in room.

the room was spacious. even the bathroom shared, it was so quiet and also you have a sink in your room. it's very useful to wash your hands or your small pieces like fruit etc.

There was another Gasthaus Schützen 30 km outside of Freiburg, near Europapark in Google Maps. Unfortunately, we headed to the wrong one, that was my fault. Just, Please be aware that this host's name is "Hotel Gasthaus Schützen". The latest check-in time was mentioned as 22:00 but when we arrived at 22:05, the restaurant side was quite crowded and we managed to check-in. I believe that we can check-in even at 23:00.

The guest house is central. If you travel by train you get off the train walk to the tram. You can buy the ticket on the team. The tram stops about 50m from the guesthouse. The food served in their restaurant is value for your money. We walked around town and it was a very pleasant place to stay for a stop over. I would use it again.

Would have liked a kettle and fridge in the room.

Location great as Tram connection with remainder of city was great. Breakfast was very good. Could use changing up of meats and cheese. After several days of same product, ate out on occasion. Lunch and Dinner menue and quality was excellent. All staff was very friendly and engaging.

The tram stop was a short walk away " Maria Hilf Kircher". Three stops from the Hotel brings you into centre to " Oberlindenof", you can then to walk into the old town and to the Munster. Yo get to the Hotel from Basel airport you exit the airport to the French side there is a bus to Freiburg arriving at the Stadtbahnbrücke Hbf (Train Station) up the stairs above the track you will see trams running to various directions. Take the No1 direction Litten Weiller and stop at the " Maria Hilf Kircher" % stops from the station. You can buy tickets at the Station stop at other stops around the city also on some Trams. If you have a car there is space at the Hotel to park.

You had to run the hot water for some time to get warm.

Very friendly staff. Very clean comfortable room. Great Breakfast. Excellent access to public transport with tramstop at front door, though only 20-25 minute walk to city centre. Great Beer garden with an excellent evening meal. Great spot to start and finish a countryside walk! My Third time here in 4 four years

Nothing to dislike

Even though we had a shared bathroom it was absolutely fine to share. The shower was hot and powerful and the room was big. The food in the restaurant was really nice. We didn't stop for breakfast as we left early but it smelt good! It was also the best night sleep we've had so far on our road trip.

The only thing I would say is the shower clip wouldn't stay up so you couldn't adjust the height.

This is a restaurant/hotel property. It is is a Bavarian style that is more practical than stylish. There is no elevator to the upper floors and no a.c., but the rooms come with fans and temperatures are mild, most times. Great German breakfast!

Nothing of note. Don’t expect a fancy entry or stairway to the rooms.
