The staff were incredibly friendly and the hotel was beautiful and so, so clean! The views and surroundings were stunning, I’ve never stayed somewhere so picturesque.

It wasn’t explained anywhere that we could see (it may have been and we missed it because it would’ve been written in German) that no food other than breakfast is available. Not normally a problem, only an issue for us as we were using public transport so a trip to the town to get shopping to cook meals for our stay was a 1hr+ round trip so just something to bare in mind for any other people looking to stay here.

Beautiful location and property, close to enough attractions and towns but still in the mountains and feels very private

Aware it was off season but the restaurant was only open Thursday-Sunday which wasn’t told to us when we booked which meant we had to drive out 20-30 minutes minimum to find food. The cleaner also only came once during our whole week stay, really poor service and they didn’t even clean or change our dirty coffee cups we had been having to wash in the bathroom sink for 5 days. Room had a kettle but no tea or coffee so had to go and buy our own

Beautiful location in the middle of the Black Forest with walking routes around the Schauinsland. Freiburg im Breisgau is only a half hour drive away. The continental breakfast had excellent pretzels and the restaurant is excellent, though closed on Mon - Weds, so make sure to bring food for those days or be ready to drive elsewhere. The staff were really helpful in offering tips on places to go. The sauna is lovely and quiet - you can sign up for a slot each day.

Hypoallergenic bedding is available but the default pillows contain feathers and down, so if you're allergic, tell the hotel in advance. As the beds were already covered in feathers, I ended up sleeping on the sofa bed on the floor below.

Beautiful location. The room was really great. The spacious room and the small kitchen suited us perfectly. We had dinner in the restaurant one evening which was lovely. There is outside space for the children to run around and swings to play on. Everything was exceptionally clean and modern. Beautiful views

Car is definitely needed as the hotel is high up the hill, so to get anywhere there is a 20min drive down windy roads. Not a problem for us as we knew this when we booked but worth knowing. We would definitely stay again.

A beautifully located guesthouse in the clouds. Spacious and very clean room. Lovely young lady checked us and also served us dinner. Parking out front. Comfortable beds; wide balcony with views (probably if not fogged up!)

It is isolated so very peaceful but takes a while to fins( after a beautiful drive mind you). Kitchen closed at 6/30 on Sunday but we were hungry so wanted to eat early. Didn’t seem to be open at all best night but we had eaten downtown. Quite remote from shops etc but lovely countryside

This was the perfect escape from your day to day. If you want a place where you are going to get away and be surround by trees and hiking trails withing a few minutes drive. This place is for you! It had a wonderful sitting area with floor to ceiling windows that was perfect to read or do a craft project by when the weather turned a little less ideal for hiking.

The hotel is for those looking to escape so if you want more night life and bars this is not the spot for you.

Very large family room with excellent facilities, very clean too! The bed was very comfy even though a bit soft. The location and views from the balcony and breakfast room are very charming and very peaceful. The forest hike is right on the doorstep. And you can walk to Schauinsland from there. The sauna and view from the sauna looked great - although we went in summer time so we didn’t use it.

The self service element at breakfast wasn’t for me, I think it would be nice for the staff to come and clear the food plates. Also a few more pretzels at breakfast would be great as they were very tasty but only 4 of them each morning. We stayed Monday to Wednesday and sadly the restaurant wasn’t open meaning we couldn’t get snacks or dinner which we would have really have liked to have tried.

Gorgeous location in the Schwarzwald with plenty of hiking and mountain bike trails at your doorstep. Excellent apartment with a great bathroom and a beautiful view from the balcony. Nice sights in the area as well such at the mining museum. Great breakfast and Flammkuchen evening for hotel guests.

The furniture in the apartment wasn't entirely practical. For example, we missed a comfortable sofa for watching TV. The staff was super friendly and chatty but we missed a bit of 'gezelligheid' in the evenings in the hotel. The guests didn't really interact with each other.

Comfortable, clean, spacious room with an equipped kitchen for basic meals, big balcony with an amazing view, friendly welcoming staff. The breakfast buffet is variated. The hotel is inside the beautiful black forest and wherever you look you see green landscape.

Been in the summer and the room at night is hot even though outside is chilly. But when leaving the window wide open it resolves it.

We stayed in a junior suite with a quirky staircase to the bedroom. The accommodation was light and airy with a stove-top and fridge - enough to prepare a a light meal. As we were self-catering, we didn’t eat in the hotel. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and our balcony enjoyed the afternoon and evening sun. The accommodation is walking distance to the Schauinsland cable car down to Freiburg. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
