This hotel is conveniently located near the main railway station and walking distance of the old town and the medical hospital. My second stay here. Room is fine, obviously predominantly German tv channels, room was clean and all you need during a short stay. Breakfast: wide selection of food, you need to pay extra for the breakfast.

Well, it is a basic hotel so actually nothing to recommend. Putting a coffee/thee machine in the room would be nice (included in room rate) albeit their is a mini bar (pay per item).

We needed a hotel by the main train station. This one is literally in front of it. I had seen the pictures and was afraid it would be a bit too outdated. It is considered a 3 superior star hotel which sometimes is a tricky classification... but it ended being a very nice surprise. The big room 12 (and some of the other ones) has been recently refurbished and I'm glad to say with no carpet on the floor! The bathroom was also a very comfortable size with a huge sink, bath/shower. Everything worked perfectly. I would only make a remark about the towels that were way too old. The white sheets though were new and very clean. Breakfast was good. Not fancy, but has the basics one needs when on the run. The employees were nice. Special mention to the young man who was on duty the day we left. It is a small hotel, fully booked. I compared the room with the one ate AC Marriot and was very happy we chose this one!

They have two big nice windows in the room that look straight to the Hbf but NO curtains that protect from the light that comes from outside. It is almost impossible to continue to sleep when dawn comes. I just cannot understand they invested on refurbishing the room but left this HUGE detail out. Fix this and I will go back for sure.

We had been touring in Germany and had stayed at this hotel the week previous. We were due to fly out of Frankfurt early the next day so we wanted a hotel close to Mainz station so we could get to the airport in 20 minutes by train. Hotel Hammer's location made it ideal for us, being directly opposite Mainz Hauptbahnhof. We stayed in the penthouse on the 6th floor, and the room was spacious, well laid out and equipped with a really comfortable bed. We had stayed in 5 other hotels as part of our week's cycle tour and this had the most comfortable pillows! Good breakfast too. Lots of great restaurants within walking distance too.

Would have liked tea making facilities rather than a coffee machine but that's being very picky!

Close to Mainz Hbf, good restaurants and grocery stores. The rooms were so nice! The staff was fantastic the whole time. Evening desk person, Freshteh Azizi was so pleasant and helpful! Freshteh assisted with restaurant reservations, providing ice at night, pouring cocktails, and arranging sauna time, always with a smile! The room was well stocked and maintained.

Nothing, I would stay again.

The location was perfect for anyone desiring proximity to the central rail station. The lobby was small but adequate for our needs. There was a bar which we didn’t use. Some patrons might find these features inadequate, but they were fine for us. More options for restaurants in the immediate neighborhood would have been good. The desk clerk was particularly helpful when we arrived and apologized that the rooms weren’t yet ready even though we were very early.

The location was excellent, the room was everything you would expect. The front staff was exceeding nice. We stayed here twice, once at the start and once at the end of our trip. Access to Frankfurt Airport is very easy with the S8 [although you can't buy tickets in advance the trains were frequent and far from full]. On our first stay the staff helped us mail a package to Italy. Just an all around great place to explore Mainz from.

Friendly staff, good size room, air conditioning (this was great since we were on the 6th floor and it was very, very hot), pretty good breakfast. Mini bar was nice and while expensive, prices weren't exorbitant and I appreciated having a cold beer after checking in. You can briefly park right in front of the hotel for loading/unloading and there's a parking garage down the street. Even though it's next to the train station you really don't have any noise and there are many restaurants and shopping options within short walking distance. Staff showed us a cheap parking option nearby.

Décor in some of the rooms was pretty dated... 6th floor rooms had kind of a 70's Vegas vibe with purple shag carpet. AC would shut off on its own every hour or so. Elevator is small, slow and only goes to 6th floor... 1st world complaints.

The welcome letter says that Hotel-Hammer wants "to attract guests who feel at home with us." SCORE! This place is great. Just steps across the street from the Mainz train station. Someone to welcome you at the front desk 24/7. They cheerfully held half of our luggage for two days while we went off on a side trip. The breakfast buffet is excellent—abundant, artfully served and delicious. Pizza, tart flambé and lobby bar are available 24/7. Mini-fridge in the room, too! What more could you want?

What I liked was EVERYTHING! We spent our first four nights of our month-long stay in Germany directly across the street from the Mainz train station. A great place to make your jet lag a memory. The sauna can be reserved between 4 and 10 and it's a fabulous way to reset your body clock. The staff is UBER friendly! SO helpful! We stayed this year because we had such an excellent stay last year. We'll be back next year.

What I don't like is telling everyone how great this place is! It's already hard to get a last-minute reservation!

The location is great and the staff super helpful and friendly. Overall, the room was good, well structured and clean.

The ventilator in the bathroom super loud which was kinda annoying. Would have been nice to let some fresh air in the room so it does not smell like cleaning products everywhere, but I did ask an early check-in so maybe with some extra time that would have been possible. The pillow was not the best. I think it is a bit overpriced.
