Everything you need is there. This is not a luxury hotel, but then you're in the heart of athens, spend very little ad a full breakfast is included. Love the wooden elevator too.

Location excellent. Road noise but not unbearable. Breakfast sufficient. Bread, cheese, ham, coffee etc but was sufficient to get the day off to a good start. Bedroom was cleaned daily. Really enjoyable stay.

Not too much to be honest. Maybe wouldn't like to be wandering around the neighbourhood late at night.

What an amazing hotel, and for such a budget-firnedly price. Extremely well located in the centre of the city, right next to Monastiraki Square, and such attractions as Hadrian's Library, the Roman Agora, central museums, Plaka and so many shopping and food options. The room was very well maintained and upket, and the housekeeping staff were kind, effiencient and thorough. A brilliant option, especially for budget-concious travllers, would happily recommend this place to anyone and everyone!

A bit of noise from the street, but being in the centre of a big, late-night city like Athens its very much to be expected. No fault of the hotel at all.

Pros: - Great location - Good price - I liked the old looking building - The breakfast was very below average, but hey, it had breakfast included which is great! All in all, the location is great, the staff were very pleasant, and i liked my stay very much.

Cons: - The bathroom was very small, which made it a little bit unpractical. - The head shower didn't work well. - The faucet was loose. - When showering you had to make some gymnastics so as not to wet everything around. - When in the room we listen to every noise from the interior of the hotel. There are some things that could be better.

Close to restaurants and shops/markets. Had air conditioning Had a lovely old lift. Had complimentary breakfast. (Enough to get you started) Beds were comfortable Our room was quiet

No kettle in the room and I do enjoy tea and coffee. No refrigerator however as long as there are trustworthy guests, there is one on each floor. The roof area has a magnificent view of the Acropolis but is bare, no tables and chairs. Not even bench seats. Would have been nice to sit. We were told by 2 male staff that there was no luggage room to store 1 bag whilst travelling the islands however on our return one male staff said yes there was one and showed us (105). So that was disappointing.

It's mear the metro, Acropolis, Monastiraki 's nicest but also worst parts. Breakfast is no prize winner (nothing fresh like tomatoes or cucumber) but it starts the day. Lift is an asset, room's are big with high ceilings. Even mono-grammed towels & bedding. It's a nice old building with creaky wooden floors . Once upon a time it must've been magnificent. But still friendly for guests who want value for money on low budgets.

There's no fridge in the rooms, at least not mine. So no cold drinks! No bar either but the area is full of bars, restaurants, tavernas, etc.

The price-value ratio is very good, just be mindful of the noise level on the side of the road. The place is old but clean and atmospheric, and the rooms functional for a few nights' stay. AC works ok. Service was friendly and breakfast simple but quite sufficient and timely. Location is excellent in terms of shopping, restaurants and sightseeing. The street Cecil is on felt safe and 24 hr reception. You can decide whether you leave your key there or not while out. Did not use or ask about safes for valuables.

I had trouble sleeping / woke several times even with earplugs on due to the road noise outside and other people making noises in the corridor at night, but that's Athens for you. Sound insulation is poor all around. Water pressure in rush times somewhat weak but understandable. A fridge and an ironing board would be nice add-ons to the room.

The location is incredible. Only a 5-minute walk to Monastiraki, Plaka, and the Agora. It’s very close to the Acropolis as well. There was also a 10-storey Hondos Center nearby. The area is generally safe and full of vibrant restaurants and supermarkets. The room and bathroom were basic but very clean. Mine was on the roof, so whenever I opened the door I saw the Acropolis which was fun. The air conditioner was great in this hot weather. The staff were nice and helpful. I left my luggage and collected it after almost 6 hours. So it was stored safely!

I couldn’t connect to the wifi as I was on the 4th floor so you need to improve that.

Hotel Cecil was an old fashioned hotel which one could call retro or shabby depending on your point of view. Personally I really liked the vibe that made me think I was stepping into a space which hadnt changed much in decades and reminded me of earlier trips to Europe. It had a working lift which even though a quirky cage, did the job. The location is unbeatable - about 100metres from Monastriki station which is on the train line from the airport and within walking distance of most main sights. Staff were helpful, onsite 24 hrs a day and more than willing to give advice and any help required. Beds comfortable and although breakfast not gourmet, it was more than adequate.

Room a little squeezy and shower pressure not that great. But I would probably stay there again as these disadvantages certainly didnt outweigh the positives.
